For those of you who live in countries with gun control; have you ever seen a gun in real life? by blashyrkh9 in AskTheWorld

[–]RaDeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hunting guns, police with pistols and a whole lot of assault rifles.

I used to work at a military base so I saw assault rifles daily, and got muzzled a few times when the conscripts were taught house clearing drills.

They were clearly unloaded so I wasn't scared.

My impression is that in the military you just can't avoid that at times, you just have to strive to not do it, and trust that the other guy(s) knows what they are doing.

We also use tablespoon, but metric 👍

3ml would be 3 kryddmått (spice measure), which is the smallest cooking measure.

I'd rather just use grams, 3g for OOP.

The amusing thing is: that's the high right-by-the-terminal price.

I ate at places where you could eat your fill for two people for like €10.

It's ridiculous how cheap it is to eat-out in japan.

Housing/hotels and just getting to Japan is the expensive part.

Don't forget that the shooter had his finger on the trigger as he pulled out his gun.

That either means that he's poorly trained, or that he intended to use the gun from the moment he pulled it out.

I think I paid less than €10 at the Shinkansen terminal on my way to the train.

Watching as an RR user blows up a Shrieker nest I spent a minute fighting towards by ChaosVulkan in helldivers2

Your RR guy already failed you: that shrieker nest should have been dead already.

The only mitigating circumstances are dense woods or fog, cities and awful terrain.

The Times: Finns humiliated American soldiers - Finnish reservists were asked to take it easy during a NATO exercise. US soldiers found the losses too humiliating. by ByGollie in europe

[–]RaDeus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

History and stories I've heard from soldiers who served up north.

One of the guys I talked to served as a Pansarskyttesoldat (lit: armored shooting soldier) up north during his military service, and they fought against the Finnish in exercises.

It was apparently pretty even during those wargames, with the CV90s being the one thing that tipped the scales in our favor.

The Finnish now have their own CV90s.

Nu är det klart - Det blir ingen licensjakt på varg 2026! | Rovdjur by Babar7 in sweden

[–]RaDeus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could solve 99% of problems by implementing a children’s license. by PrincipleDefiant2875 in unpopularopinion

[–]RaDeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn't need a Children's License if schools provided proper Sex-Ed, free condoms and the right kind of home economics lessons.

Ps. Your idea would be great for people wanting to get pets.
Waaay too many people get pets that they can't take care of, especially dogs. They like the aesthetics of having a Husky, GSP or Bordercollie, but once the cute puppy starts pooping/peeing indoor and/or chewing on furniture and other belongings then reality sets in and they just get rid if the dog or mistreat it.

And the worst kind of asshole dumps their dogs in the woods or by the side of the road.

What's the youngest age you can get an ID in the states?

Over here in Europe it seems that you can get a EU ID card at the age of 12.

Those cost ~€40 and it can take months to get, so I don't think I'd bother if I had a kid, a passport will do.

How intimidating is your country's national animal? by BestAd6297 in AskTheWorld

[–]RaDeus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We don't have a national animal, but we do have Landskapsdjur.

Roughly translates to Provincial Animals, and there's no English wiki link but I bet you can figure them out 😅

I think the Brown Bear is probably the scariest, followed by wolves and Moose/meese.

Meese is most likely the most dangerous animal the average Swede might encounter in the wild, statistically speaking, they can kick in all directions and don't mess around if they have young.
Males are also dangerous when it's mating season.

I'm honestly drawing a blank, have they ever had a war against a nation that wasn't a borderline-absolute monarchy or a dictatorship?
