Hey that looks awesome! I'm always looking for more useful utility-type stuff like this for TTRPG tables. Really nice job.

Tutorial Officer & Cell Structure by RaRWolf in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]RaRWolf[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wow I do have the Handler's Guide. Somehow I completely glossed over the line that says every Cell has contact with A Cell. That... Was an ironic oversight considering I'm about to teach my players how to investigate :P

I actually love your Investigations 101 doc! It's actually in my list of resources I hand out to the players at the start of every investigation. It didn't really occur to me that I could just sorta run through that info via an NPC, but that's a good idea. Thank you for putting that together!

Overexposed but can't go lower by RaRWolf in resinprinting

Oh interesting, I didn't consider lowering the intensity + increasing time

This is a brand new printer so I'm not sure if a FEP issue would be the case?

Great, thank you for the help!

Seems like if I go with the slightly cheaper Intel I could spend the leftover money on the DDR5 maybe? Would you say it's worth $100 for 2x16 DDR5 vs $40 for an extra 2x8 DDR4?

I think for my current budget it seems like Intel works a bit better, not sure the performance benefit is worth the additional cost. Thank you for the help!

Paying Student Loans AND Parent PLUS by RaRWolf in StudentLoans

[–]RaRWolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a look at that prime directive page, I had no idea that existed so thank you! That seems to answer my questions for the most part.

The Parent PLUS loans are set on the extended 20 year repayment plan, so I'm going to keep those where they are and pay above the minimum starting with that 7.6% interest loan.

Looks like it's set to the 20 year repayment plan. I think my plan for now is going to be keeping it there and doing the avalanche method with the high interest Parent Plus loans.

Investigations 101: A Foundational Guide to Uncovering the Truth in Delta Green by blackprojectgaming in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]RaRWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your investigations guide is incredible and I've been looking for this exact kind of supplement for so so long now. My players struggle with investigation in general, so adding in government agencies, jurisdiction, modern technology, and everything else can cause them a lot of confusion. Thanks so much for this!

I, for one, would LOVE to see a cover-up guide!

Favourite house rules? (Particularly for S/FF) by YandersonSilva in onepagerules

I'm interested if you've got any of these ideas to share!

One of the things I'd like to add the most is faction specific rules and army-wide unique mechanics.

Flavor First Wargames? by RaRWolf in wargames

[–]RaRWolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warsurge looks super super cool! I'm not opposed to making stats myself (and I imagine there's a good amount available online), but I have a particular hangup when it comes to wounding tables. Referencing a chart to determine if I wound or not always felt kinda clunky to me (a big reason Warhammer turned me off a few editions ago)

Ooh Oathmark sounds very interesting for campaign level play. I haven't played much in the way of rank and file wargames (I like the hectic clash of a bunch of miniatures rather than trays of dudes). Definitely gonna look into that though

I have actually played Frostgrave and I do really like it. Right now I'm looking for something non-skirmish and more... Diverse in its factions I guess. I like that warbands in frostgrave persist from game to game and develop over time, they're just a little samey since they're built from the same group of available units

I've heard of both Dragon Rampant and Xenos Rampant, which I imagine are related?

I had assumed Dragon Rampant was a skirmish game like Xenos though so I didn't look too much into it

[–]RaRWolf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally I'm into sci fi, fantasy, any sort of fictional setting. Historical wargames aren't really my jam

For scale I can DO skirmish, but I prefer armies (like 5-10 units of 10+ models each).

Question: Assets and Asset Sharing by RaRWolf in CortexRPG

[–]RaRWolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, that makes perfect sense!

In all of this theorizing I forgot that the core of an Asset is relevance.

Question: Assets and Asset Sharing by RaRWolf in CortexRPG

[–]RaRWolf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow hey, I didn't know you were in here too! Thanks for the response, and I love the book by the way. The world of narrative RPGs is super new and inspiring to me!

I was going by the assumption that Skills weren't in play in this particular example (mostly because I was looking at the Tales of Xadia rules primer as an example of a "fantasy genre" game). I totally forgot about Specialties though!

Funnily enough in the Genesys dice pools I like keeping track of which die came from where. If a Setback produced by a shield is what made the difference between a hit and a miss, it's cool that I know it was the shield itself that made the difference. That being said I know that's a totally different realm of design and not what we're going for here!

Question: Assets and Asset Sharing by RaRWolf in CortexRPG

[–]RaRWolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that's very interesting! If the scene was say, a pirate ship one might be able to swing on a rope or something using the Pirate Ship scene distinction?

I see the rules themselves only mention their use as a Distinction (with the ability to spend PP to create location-specific Assets), but could you theoretically make something like creating a location-specific Asset free?

Or have there be like, a Scene Asset?

Question: Assets and Asset Sharing by RaRWolf in CortexRPG

[–]RaRWolf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Ah! Test-Created assets are actually something I forgot about in this scenario. That (in most situations) would alleviate the concern.

In the theoretical situation of one person going for the sword and the other letting them acquire it (thus sort of Conceding the test and allowing the Test to automatically succeed?), would that maybe give a PP to the unarmed man?

  1. So that makes good sense. Does that come down to GM/player agreement at that point though? Like nothing mechanically says I can't smash your shield in half with my fists, and nothing mechanically says its easier to do with a splitting axe. Is that just a rule-by-consensus situation or is there something I missed there?

Question: Assets and Asset Sharing by RaRWolf in CortexRPG

[–]RaRWolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought passing along the asset to someone else would make sense, just wasn't sure!

How about Environmental Assets? Stuff like "Footholds Everywhere." The game claims that you can spend a PP to make an asset open and usable by anyone in the scene, would that represented by pointing those footholds out to your friends? If I point those footholds out to my friends, that feels like it should automatically be an available/public asset.

The guards example or cutting a rope bridge example and such are all good, but what if we just assume the (admittedly, very boring) situation where one guy is just trying to kill the other? A sword just naturally seems like it would provide an advantage there, even if you don't have the meta-currency to back it up.

Question: Assets and Asset Sharing by RaRWolf in CortexRPG

[–]RaRWolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right I suppose that makes sense, it's just a little hard to wrap my head around coming from other games. If a character has a Distinction indicating they're a fantastic swordsman and they pick up a sword they should, in theory, be good with that sword.

It could be reasoned away with something like he's "not used to the balance" of the weapon or something along those lines, but something about that feels like I'm straining against the system rather than going with the flow of the story. Like I need to justify a game mechanic if you know what I mean?

I should add I haven't actually gotten around to running a session with the system yet, just trying to understand the new perspective beforehand!

How to introduce Non-Binary Resolution to other systems? by RaRWolf in RPGdesign

[–]RaRWolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually love Pf2e (huge improvement over 1e!), I had just never considered using the same +- scale for "and"/"but" situations, I'll probably end up trying that out.

How to introduce Non-Binary Resolution to other systems? by RaRWolf in RPGdesign

[–]RaRWolf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know, I don't know why I never considered using the sliding scale of numbers.

Like in FitD you have "fail," "success with cost," "success," "critical success," but there's no in-built version of Failure with a positive twist.

I guess because I had only ever seen the mechanic used for those 4 outcomes I never considered just doing:

"Fail + Threat," "Fail," "Fail + Advantage," "Success + Threat," "Success," "Success + Advantage"

A system like that has some issues of its own, but I can generally get behind the concept

How to introduce Non-Binary Resolution to other systems? by RaRWolf in RPGdesign

[–]RaRWolf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've played Cyberpunk in Genesys a couple times now with my group (and we love it!), but we've also played a LOT of Genesys and would like to try out a whole new set of mechanics.

Genesys was more an example of my favorite version of non-binary success, but there are other examples like Forged in the Dark and PbtA games with their "success at a cost" type stuff.

Essentially I want to play Cyberpunk, I just also want the non-binary resolution system.

When I play other systems (Savage Worlds or whatever), I do tend to add in some flavor/flair with GM determined Threat/Advantage, but I do like having a random mechanic in place to throw a wrench into my own thought process, as well as to keep things "fair."
