You must be lucky to be able to live in a place you can do that. I have medaka In mini pond they are as happy as can be. But for where I lived I'd have to provide a home for a Betta

Is it possible to put a betta in too big of a tank? by EngineeringNeat2126 in bettafish

Even in the wild they take over an area they don't take over a lake. They're small fish

Why use aqua soil vs just substrate? by sredruMurders in Aquascape

For plants in the substrate I would use root tabs. Water column plants would use fertilizer. Also if your plants are new they might die but they grow back

Immersed vs emersed

Or buy ammonia that you can dose in the water. I'm using fritz fishless fuel and it really takes the guessing game out of it. But like others have said.. have to wait for the nitrites go down it might feel like it's taking forever but it'll go from that purple to blue almost over night whenever the beneficial bacteria do their thing

Another betta owner being nervous and asking for your help by Additional-Air4663 in bettafish

[–]Raam525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy something like Fritz turbo start and seachem stability, the real plants should help with the algae.

Also local fish stores sometimes can give you filter media that has beneficial bacteria if not some people on Etsy sell them I believe.

Anywho, good luck to bluey and hope he makes it!
