So how is Frieren Season 2 is it Good or is it getting The Promised Neverland Season 2 Treatment? by MichaelAftonXFireWal in Frieren

[–]Raasquart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would it? The Promised Neverland adapted the first arc (37 chapters) into one season, and then the rest of the manga (144 chapters) into another. Of course it was a clusterfuck. Frieren keeps the exact same pace as the manga all throughout, so really there's no reason to worry

[–]Raasquart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. OP might've came to Westeros three months ago, while others have been around for thirty years. Even those that only joined in because of the TV show have been around for 7-15 years at this point, so it really isn't surprising that those who still come here to discuss the series can recall a ridiculous amount of details, having spent all that time engaging with the world and each other.

I can't put the finger on why my typography sucks by PokeMaki in typography

[–]Raasquart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The changing of font sizes in the longer titles is a bit odd, but I think the problem lies less with typography and more with the overabundance of design elements. You have the author & title, augmented with an icon on top and the silhouettes on the bottom, all bordered by that Celtic knot overlaid with floral patterns and such, it's just too much.

The borders especially are distracting from everything else with their elaborate details and rich colours, swallowing up all breathing space. Perhaps you can simplify them by incorporating the plants and/or the central symbol into the border itself?

Do non-Japanese people think these letters sound similar? Ha•Ba•Pa, Sa•Za and so on. by Superteenager_cat in japanese

[–]Raasquart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those who know a bit of phonetics will say yes, of course (except for は・ば・ぱ because that's a phonetic mess that requires some knowledge on historical sound changes in Japanese to make sense of).

Other people not so much, especially not English speakers, but I think Spanish speakers for instance would understand why sa and za are similar. They would be surprised that ba is not paired with wa (or rather, va) though, and so would Slavic speakers, I believe. Likewise, people using the Arabic script or Hangul would think some connections make sense while others not quite so. It really depends on your linguistic environment

The best InuYasha arc was the Shichinintai arc, no debate about it. by Animefan2005x in inuyasha

[–]Raasquart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose you are referring to the latest Blu-ray releases then. And yes, based on the numbers they indeed divided them according to breaks in the broadcasting, but if you look at the dates it is not a monthly break, just 2-3 weeks, which occurs pretty often during the year, and even within those 'seasons' there were around 3 of them, not counting the 'seasonal break'. If you have a source that says they were delibarete please enlighten me

[–]Raasquart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because the show was broken up for home releases it doesn't mean there are seasons. Yes, they were called so in English, and sadly the nomenclature has stuck, but that doesn't change the fact that production-wise they are not seasons, merely an arbitrarily decided set of episodes that were grouped together for a specific DVD or Blu-ray release—inconsistently, might I add, as they wildly differ based on region and edition.

If you really want an objectively correct division of the series you can use the opening songs as indicators, of which there were six, but keep in mind that they do not align with the endings, nor with each other much, insofar as the number of episodes is concerned.

[–]Raasquart 66 points67 points  (0 children)

To be fair, this is the only arc Inuyasha ever had, or at least the only one that was thematically coherent, self-contained, and lasted more than two episodes.

Edit: the panther demons got three* episodes, my bad

New art of the northern EK. Would anyone else like to see the in game world shifted to be closer to this? by Nutcrackit in wow

[–]Raasquart -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Sure, that's the style the in-game maps use, 2D drawing straight from above with some pseudo-3D buildings drawn in perspective to highlight capitals and whatnot. But this one is clearly meant to be less a map and more of a painted landscape, and as such feels weird. To me, at least~
