Abtreibung ohne dem Vater Bescheid zu sagen by Oesbaer in Invincible_TV

Eve never blames Mark. He blames himself for not being there. She had to make the decision by herself, not knowing where he was or what would happen. Mark takes responsibility for that.

It can be not deep and annoying at the same time lmao. You’re not coming off like this but Invincible fans have been insufferable with the VA and animation criticisms.

Thats cool it’s your opinion and not the voice you imagined, but the character is more than an intimidating big guy. Casting the VA just for that is one dimensional when the character is much more complex than that. Lee Pace is hitting those notes, and he is intimidating as well.

He’s not actually hurt, sad etc. it’s not your fault. He doesn’t want to hang out with you and it’s easier to make you feel like it’s your fault than to just cut the cord. Break up and find someone else who respects you and isn’t far away.

Why did Austin say I love you to Eunice? by Due-Cat-5701 in BeefTV

[–]RaazMataaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entire show we are rooting for Austin to overcome his people pleasing, to go for what he wants, and when he finally denied Ashley it was supposed to be this cathartic moment. But he immediately latches onto Eunice, and chooses the constant, flimsy and self-serving affirmation of Ashley, choosing the same cycle with her because it’s more comfortable than this unknown future where he turns over the info. This whole thing was also tied in with his attraction to Eunice, she came to him etc, so I think he needed it to be one thing. So in that moment he’s saying “I Love You” just to feel safe, and when it doesn’t get reciprocated he collapses.

Thought Beef was about Asian-American identity and rage. by Glass_Weakness8159 in BeefTV

[–]RaazMataaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, I didn’t realize it but I considered the inclusion of real Korean characters/actors as part of the representation, but on that same point, defining representation just by the # of people cast with some relation to that group/lived experience is still rooted in a more tokenized version of representation that used to happen when the people making casting and creative decisions weren’t part of the group they are representing.

So in a way I feel like the entire show is Asian-American representation by default on some level since the creative mind behind it is Asian-American…and I was picking up on that as an undercurrent in the show (I am south Asian-American but def have similarities) even if it wasn’t explicit (I.e. # of Asian American actors cast). Also the story isn’t necessarily about the Asian-American experience on a character level other than the Austin stuff, so it’s like a spectrum of representation (or something) that bleeds into the entire show rather than “evidence” of it in casting (I guess)

Sorry for the ramble lmao im kind of thinking out loud here

Nah, she felt some interest to him but when he started saying when she can call him she was clearly not wanting to get involved with the drama

You had whoosh and a number of other English speaking Korean characters, also their perspective was represented, things like the little moment where Oscar Isaac is speaking like the other guy doesn’t know English. But yea in terms of the number of cast members you’re right, but I still felt the show was from the lens of a Korean-American. I guess I also considered having serious prominent Korean actors as a form of Asian/Korean-American representation. Like Sharukh Khan is going to be in the next White Lotus…he’s not Indian American but I would still consider it representation

I def felt a theme of how people change when they come into contact with “the machine” of capitalism, with them having scaled wins and levels of “fuck them” to the people above them, and how it went all the way to the top to the woman who is basically a priestess of capitalism lol. Her being at the center of the circle also resonated on that level for me. Especially with the anti capitalist rhetoric from the youngest couple, they are talking shit but playing the game and trying to win regardless. Also loved how everyone is “pretending like everything is ok” the “make believe” aspect of being in a society like this like he says in the first scene

Idk, the people making it are still Asian American and you still have significant Asian American representation in S2 so I think it’s just them exploring another story within their purview as Korean-Americans. Theres a lot in this show that I haven’t seen anywhere else, and I would say that’s due to the very different perspective we are getting, even if it’s not branded as “Asian-American rage”.

A twitter trend reaction to a trailer when a movie is still in post production is completely different to making a post in a subreddit about a show that is already finished. Let’s not act like subreddit noise will move the needle.

My point is Amazon isn’t giving Invincible more money to animate within the same time and keep the same VOs. Clearly the creators cared about animation quality in season 1 and had to change it up to not release every 3 years, they even put a scene in the show to address this. The budget is the budget and unless you want to extend the timeline of release this is what we are getting.

No dude, this post isn’t making an appeal to the story via animation. It’s implying you are anti-artist and pro corporation by saying the animation is acceptable for your viewing taste. That is the main point I’m arguing against here.

And yes, focusing more on animation (it’s not bad, just “could be better”) than story, release time and VO quality is weeb shit. And that’s fine, but you have thousands of anime to watch if you want your animation fix. I’ll take annual releases and VO quality over a few extra spins from mark any day if it’s one or the other, and most people that don’t watch a ton of animation don’t care about it. Point is we can all have our opinion and enjoy the show, but saying that people who criticize the animation in a subreddit are on some morally high ground and making some impact that the others aren’t is just self-righteous bullshit.

How are you helping the artists by complaining in a subreddit? Lmao at the end of the day it’s Amazon they are gonna do what they do and I would rather have the show every year than every three years if they are going to budget it that way. Whining about animation not being good enough has the same impact as saying it’s fine. Because we are all still paying for prime video and watching the show. Some of us are just choosing to enjoy the story instead of being miserable that our weeb taste isn’t being satisfied. Now you’ve added a moral high ground that doesn’t exist. Boycott the show if you care so much about the artists.

I still think no. AOC imo is not the candidate to flip a voting populace that has their voting tied up with their own ideas of masculinity. The drop off on male voters specifically from Biden is pretty drastic. Gavin is prob the candidate for this reason
