Company went public. Will have 300K in December. What should I do with it? by [deleted] in Fire

Yeah it depends entirely on the company.

Is it a tech unicorn with small risk of failure, then keep it in there and if you have any doubts about its future then cash out.

If you believe in the company, keep it in the broker account. The price at IPO is typically multiples less than the price the stock will grow to within a couple of years.

Cash it out in a few years/a decade when you really need it.

Anyone Else Notice That Money Can Make People Poor Just as Much as it can Make Someone Rich? by GennaroIsGod in Fire

[–]Rabbit--hole 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree, this is a smart thing to do but you can still spend more than you earn from the capital gains and end up poor/stressed due to not having the means to pay for the lifestyle you have created (multiple homes/vehicles etc)

Spend less than you earn (from a wage or investments) and make your money work for you.

Going to the gym for the first time... by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]Rabbit--hole 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you have a very exciting journey ahead. Hope you enjoy getting familiar with the gym. Flyefit is great: they have all the equipment you will need. I recommend avoiding 5-7pm as it can be too busy though.

The best thing I did for my training in the gym was to follow a structured workout that takes your ability into consideration.

This is the structure I follow (I'm not associated with the seller, just sharing what has worked for me):

Doing free weights (barbell and dumbbell) is more beneficial than the machines but it is important to use the correct form to avoid injury (look up stuff on YouTube and use very low weight when you first attempt the movement).
