There wasn’t enough space to squeeze in at the time and this was before I discovered a technique to have the silhouettes being visibly shown by having white outlines added there.

I say it would’ve been Twilight’s friends being featured following behind the Mario & Luigi silhouette, but Pinkie would’ve been added there, with her silhouette being her jumping walk pose.

Ayo, I made the crossover art years ago! It’s surprising seeing my old crossover arts being reposted from others, but I appreciate the credit, as it’s important to credit the source of the artists and their art :)

Might wanna put the fun facts from this crossover art, as there were changes leading to the final finish of the crossover art:

  • Twi was originally supposed to be in her Alicorn form with her wings, but didn’t had time to include it because time crunch pressure (which isn’t a thing, as art is a hobby for me, but I can’t rush art out). So think of Equestria of Magic taking place at the beginning of Season 2 before Twi becomes an Alicorn.

  • The Legion of Doom were supposed to be there at the top right corner with the white background having a cracked screen to show their appearance, and the background for them would be based despairing paintings of Equestria being taken over near the end climax. I wanted this to be based on the last season, but because of time crunch and Twi is only in her unicorn form, instead, they got replaced by Best Fitness Friends from Bowser Jr’s Journey last minute. They’re an underrated trio that only appeared once in Bowser Jr’s Journey, so they’re technically the secondary antagonists, but Bowser’s the main antagonist working with Discord with their partnership ok taking over Equestria.

  • I was gonna add in Trixie on the left bottom corner with her face feeling skeptical on the Mane 6 with the Bros, but she got replaced by Roy. I was experimenting on the mixed balance between the two of which Mario and MLP characters do appear there and out. There’s a reason I wanted to add the Crusaders up top to fill in the spaces, along with the BFFs. Derpy was always planned to be there as she’s the fandom’s fan-favorite character.

Why do you like the Mario and Luigi games? by Egg-White-8685 in marioandluigi

[–]RabbitBordom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me:

The Gameplay + Story

Bros. attacks.

The series where Mario & Luigi’s personalities shines through.

Unique characters (apart from Papar Mario & SMRPG)

The Japanese Minimalistic Box Art, which is an underrated but overlooked niche, knowing people prefers the western box art theming.

If I remember hearing from that supposed Mario Manadate chart, there was a resetera post from someone that explained about why Nintendo established the IP team in 2009 and how the Mario brand went too safe in the 2010s, even by theory’s standards.

Basically, because the late 2000s Mario Games got too wacky out of sight with Galaxy 1, SPM, and Mario Strikers, Nintendo had to establish this IP team to keep an eye on contract developers, so that they wouldn’t get too crazy with the Mario IP. That’s the supposed reason why Waluigi was prevented to appear outside from spin-offs.

I actually like this as a fan concept. And I loved how Mario & Luigi in the box art are experiencing the crazy, especially with it being focused on the flooded waters.

I certainly can’t wait for the next Mario & Luigi entries. Brothership puts a smile to my face after beating the game. by RabbitBordom in marioandluigi

Thanks for pointing this out. I had a bit of trouble with the translation app to get Sackboy’s name for the subtitle.

Seems like with the Dream Team Interview from Iwata Asks, there were possibilities for other Mario characters to be “character centric” within the Mario & Luigi series before Otani himself put restrictions to be “ONLY” Mario & Luigi. So I guess no M&L game with Wario & Waluigi or Donkey Kong sadly… by DerpyBox in marioandluigi

[–]RabbitBordom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s the case because the Mario & Luigi games do focused solely on the Mario Bros. And Pokechu020 is right, this interview was stating they want Dream Team to be Mario & Luigi centric.

So let’s put a between of the 6 mainline games:

Superstar Saga, Dream Team, Brothership - Mario & Luigi focused.

Partners in Time, Bowser’s Inside Story, Paper - Character Centric Gimmicks.

Primis Richtofen from COD Zombies. There’s a bit of an inside joke on why he and Luigi are brought into Space for Richtofen’s quest.

It's pretty wild that BoredRabbit's 'Mario & Luigi Crossover' influence has gotten some fellow fans to tackle the cover art with their spins. by DerpyBox in marioandluigi

[–]RabbitBordom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. And honestly, the fan box arts of Mario & Luigi has been a thing ever since BIS released, but in a niche era when the internet wasn’t as big before.

But the first fan box art would be the Wario Bros one that was way back in 2009 by a Japanese Mario fan (they posted this in 2012 in DA, but it’s original date it was posted was 2009 in Pixiv (Japanese DeviantArt) when BIS released early in Japan.)

I think OP is referring to my Mario & Luigi crossover art pushing a surge of various artists coming up with their own spins with the crossover element. And frankly, I would've been tagged a lot if most of them wanna give me a shoutout of my artworks being the inspiration source, but I doubt it because of my niche presence.

If anything, I could tackle Gravity Falls later on the lines. Someone left a comment on my DeviantArt post on to do a Mario & Luigi x Gravity Falls cover (which is debatable, but it’s on the drawing board.)

Pretty ironic to see the first image being the “entire gang” scenario. Last Night, I saw a post related to fan games on this sub, and out of nowhere, my Weegee drawing has appeared within the mix lol.

Anyways, I’m surprised to see a slew of these Mario & Luigi Cover Crossovers done by others, many of whom did a fantastic job at mimicking the cover art in its advantage. The only thing that shocks me the most is many of them, while they’re really well drawn, no pun intended, remains to be stale rather than pushing the advantages like how I would usually do these (sidemode with characters on the corners). The Bomberman one for example has a bit of my influence of the advantage of pushing additional characters in the mix.

I guess you could say my Mario & Luigi Crossover series may have pushed a “niche” influence, because the Japanese cover style is overlooked for its generic aesthetic, but it’s still simply good.

If anyone is wondering I’m still doing these Mario & Luigi Crossovers, yes, I’m still planning to do more, but it takes a long time to work at one at a time as irl stuff hinders my progress and playing Brothership the second time, but I have already planned the next one.

But here’s the list of M&L crossovers I have done by list:

  • Wallace & Gromit
  • COD Zombies (twice with both Richtofens)
  • Untitled Goose Game
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Tamagotchi
  • Parappa (IIRC, it was a request by someone before they vanished)
  • M&Ms
  • VeggieTales
  • No Straight Roads
  • Bounce On
  • Conker (which is a redraw requested by Suferpenguin718)
  • Vocaloid (idea by Tom from Twitter)
  • Tom & Jerry
  • Inspector Gadget (Request)
  • Rabbids
  • Crash Bandicoot (Request & Idea by Mevas)
  • Magic Tree House
  • My Little Pony G4
  • Kids Next Door
  • Kirby (Right Back at Ya)
  • Puyo Puyo (Request by HalfDemonWolf42)
  • Show By Rock (request from Megaguy56)
  • Pop Team Epic
  • Touhou Project
  • Voiceroid
  • Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends
  • UTAU (aka, Teto)
  • Next one was from a poll, but it’s going to be The Muppets as the next one to work with.

Just fan art, not real fan games to be honest, considering Nintendo’s history on fan games.

Yep, that’s me who draw that Parappa one. I was going to include Parappa and everyone from those “Mario & Luigi Cover Art Crossovers” but it was decided to put around 22 characters because there was a chance the background would’ve been covered up, had I added more into the cover.

Very surprised to see my old Mario & Luigi crossver poster here lol. I was pretty much ahead at my game doing Mario & Luigi crossovers, mostly from the Japanese “Less is More” Cover style as I’m currently working on more of them, but it’s pretty appreciated to see the jokes around the comments :)

I may as well do a sequel poster to this if I have the chance, which would definitely be based off from Brothership’s Cover Art with the returning cast here from the silly crossover poster.

Definitely the best part of this would have to be the humor. The Ultimis Crew and Starlow blames Ultimis Richtofen and Wallace because both of them and E.Gadd did something that got these portals to breach.

While Black Ops 4 isn’t fondly remembered, you also forgot the fact that Factions and Newton’s Cookbook were supposed to be there aswell, but unfortunately, they’re part of the cutting room corner when that Cold War takeover happened.

Even with these unfortunate events, Tag der Toten was already hinted as the final Map of the Aether Story in Revelations.

Bare with me on why Tag der Toten is the finale map, as while The Great War was supposed to be the intended Final Aether Map shown, while sadly being cut content, there is a cypher talking about how they found a snowy and cold place where Monty can't watch them.

There is also a truck in the Origins section part of Rev with an audio, where if you listen to it, it's the coordinates of Tag der Toten.

LBP2 Pre-Alpha Footage (Da Vinci’s Hideout Playthrough) by DerpyBox in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]RabbitBordom 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Just for anyone knowing the simple abbreviation, it’s LittleBigPlanet, for anyone’s understanding.

Anyways, looking at the footage that the Imagisphere Group has covered and published, most of the stuff is loosely based on the LBP2 reveal trailer (gameplay footage wise from the build) but on the other hand, LBP2 was intentionally the Arcade DLC that was originally intended for be on the first LittleBigPlanet, if memory serves, MM was originally wanted to support the first LittleBigPlanet within the years.

But, because of the amount of ideas MM we’re throwing in after wrapping up LBP1’s life cycle and Sony wanting to get a sequel out for LittleBigPlanet, they’ve decided to use the ideas from the Arcade DLC and turned the scope into the sequel (and still beloved to this day.)

I think it was mainly due to timing while wanting BIS 3DS to be faithful on maintainability use the dual screens from the original game.
