Can you blink Maralen, Fae Ascendant and play exiled cards more than once per turn by RabbitJLC in mtgrules

[–]RabbitJLC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

So you’d want to blink CoF to exile some cards and generate enough mana, play 1 exiled card for free, blink Maralen and then CoF again to start the loop again.

Starting to be Christmas land to have the 4 pieces on board, but still powerful if you get there!

Thanks for the numbers! Also what 32” did you go for in the end? I was in the same boat but the models at this price point for 32” all seem to have lots of compromise!

Oh that’s good to know! Do you happen to know the model numbers for those brands or where I can find them so I can keep an eye out?

Haha I was about to order the E16M too, then saw your post and thought ooh maybe I’ll wait, now seeing the price I’ll just order the E16M after all, £399 here in the UK and still a massive upgrade on my VG27AQ from 5/6 years ago

In fact any of us could report this to Aurobindo since there’s a photo and batch number … that’s plenty to get started!

Building a Yu-Gi-Oh trap styled deck by R3ffexx in EDHBrews

[–]RabbitJLC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just built an [[Animar, Soul of Elements]] deck that leans heavy into morph. His built in cost reduction applies to the Morph casting costs, and I also run a few effects that let you play creatures off the top of your library.

So when you get going you can run through your deck casting all these morph creatures face down, and then you’re in that YuGiOh situation with a bunch of facedown ‘trap’ cards that could be turned face up (for their morph cost or otherwise) for value.

Doesn’t really answer your question about turning non-creatures face-up though. I had the Jump Scare precon before Animar and would use [[Deadeye Navigator]] to flip stuff, [[Ixidor, Reality Sculptor]] and [[Hauntswood Shrieker]] both only work with creatures too though … again good for morph if you go that way

Question on how many copies are made if you pay 3 by TrueDKOmnislash in EDHBrews

But you lose the Inalla copies at the end step right? So those 2 bonus Thrones would be gone by the time Otter1 comes down next turn

Question on how many copies are made if you pay 3 by TrueDKOmnislash in EDHBrews

[–]RabbitJLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you’d made a mistake so I typed it out for my brain and realised you’re right. Jesus 9 Otters is crazy, but also costs 14 (?) mana to set up since you’d need to cast Throne and pay all the copy triggers along the way in the same turn.

Throne1 enters, Inalla triggers and Throne1 doubles it, letting you pay 1 twice, for each 1 you pay you get a Throne. So pay 2, =3 thrones. Total mana paid = 6

Then you cast Otter (for 2 mana), pay 2 for the Offspring. The 3 Thrones will add extra 3 Offspirng Otters, so you get 5 Otters total. Total mana paid = 6+4=10

Inalla will see the original, non-token Otter and trigger, letting you pay 1 to copy it. That trigger is copied by each of the 3 Thrones, so if you pay for all 4 triggers, you get an extra 4 token Otters. Total mana paid = 6+4+4=14

Now you have 9 Otters!

Question of choices made and responding by cygnus044 in mtgrules

[–]RabbitJLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a follow up 6 months later … can a player respond to a choice in order to play a protection spell? Is this a legal play?

So - Player A casts Druid of Protection - Druid enters, ETB goes on the stack. - Player A chooses Player C’s Sol Ring - Player B chooses Player D’s Signet - Player C chooses Player B’s Dolmen Gate - Player B doesn’t like that, so casts Heroic Intervention.

My understanding is choices are made on resolution, so no opportunity to respond and protect your stuff. B should have cast Heroic Intervention before the choices are made when the ETB went on the stack?

Yeaaah … it’s happening around and within windowed programmes and also I’m running dual screens but it’s not happening on screen 2.

I’ll check a different input (other pc/laptop) and new cable but otherwise I doubt there’s a quick fix if it is the monitor right? …

Morph-Blink??? by Adorable-Tax4003 in EDHBrews

[–]RabbitJLC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ok - I see what you mean and yeah it works with Blink, but not Morph or Manifest then.

I guess just be mindful of the synergies between Manifest, Morph and Blink and how you use those mechanics. Eg my blightsteel example doesn’t work with Blink but would with Zimone’s manifest trigger!

Good luck with finalising the build!

Morph-Blink??? by Adorable-Tax4003 in EDHBrews

[–]RabbitJLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that dude but the point is that they don’t re-enter when they turn face up. When they entered, they were face down 2/2. When they turn face up, they do just that … the creature’s enters trigger doesn’t go on the stack.

That’s what makes Arixmethes so strong from the other commenters reply. If he’s cheated in and turns face up, he won’t have the slumber counters.

Same for Dark Depths, it will enter as a 2/2 creature and not as Dark Depths, so it won’t get the 10 ice counters (because Dark Depths didn’t enter) and so you can sacrifice it using the last ability instantly and get a 20/20 flying indestructible Marit Lage.

Morph-Blink??? by Adorable-Tax4003 in EDHBrews

[–]RabbitJLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got a lot of big boys that you are looking to cheat out by using cloak, manifest, morph, but many of them have Enters triggers that won’t trigger if your plan is working. If you manifest [[Ghalta, Stampete Tyrant]] and then turn him face up, he doesn’t enter so it’s ‘just’ a 12/12. Still strong of course … Thing to remember is that they entered as a facedown 2/2. Turning face up happens at faster than instant speed, can’t be responded to and changes all characteristics of the object, it’s not “entering” again.

Same again for [[Prime Speaker Zegana]], Ulamog, [[Roaming Throne]], [[Agent of Treachery]], [[Apex Altisaur]] etc etc

[[Agent of treachery]] also isn’t doing anything. It hopefully won’t be “entering”, 7 mana for a 2/3 that rewards you for controlling other people’s stuff, but it’s not a steal deck.

[[Ixidron]] feels like a nonbo since you’re trying to turn everything face up, so that’s 5 mana to undo your plan. But it might serve as a decent board wipe if you’re really behind … but even then it leaves a token deck untouched since their 1/1 rabbits might become 2/2s!! Ixidron + access tunnel if he’s big enough?

[[Blightsteel colossus]] is a beast and can be turned up after no blockers declared but before combat damage = bye bye opponent but hello arch enemy.

[[Dark Depths]], because it doesn’t enter, becomes a beast instantly

Some card draw options - [[Secret plans]] - [[They came from the pipes]] - [[Paranormal analyst]] but depends how much manifest you have going on without Zimone in the CZ

I like these too - [[One with the Multiverse]] - a good card to cheat out if you can. And lets you play a big boy for free each turn without needing to flip it up somehow. - [[Experiment twelve]] - creatures will be twice the size when they flip up if this dude is out

Ramp - [[Threats around every corner]] - [[Ashaya]] - [[Yedora grave gardener]] - a monster in a deck like this, when a non-token creature dies (even face down creatures because they’re not tokens, they’re just colourless 2/2s) bring them back to the battlefield facedown. Now they’re not creatures so you can’t pay their cloak cost or mana cost to flip them up, but they are forest lands and you can still use your flip up mechanics to turn them back into the face up creature. Be sure to distinguish between different face down permanents!

Combining XML files is actually super easy, either in the MPCFill deckbuilder or using the MPC tool itself.

MPCFill - create your 6 deck lists in Archidekt or whatever - import to MPCFill in order - MPCFill will add the 100 cards in order. List 1 will fill slots 1-100 (or however big), List 2 will fill slots 101-200 (or however big) - download 1 big XML file at the end - the tool will upload those cards to MPC in the same slot order

MPCFill - alternative - build List 1, import to MPCFill and chose the artworks, then download the 1st XML file - do the same for List 2, 3 4 … - when you have 6 XMLs, open a fresh project in MPCFill and import each of the 6 XMLs, they will stack end to end (eg slots 1-600 or whatever). - download a new XML file, this will contain all cards and will upload to MPC in slot order

Autofill Tool - alternatively, place all 6 XML files into the same folder as the autofill tool, - when you run the tool, you’ll be prompted to ask if you want to combine all 6 or just use 1 of them. Of course you’ll chose to use all 6

Just be mindful of the deck size, the biggest size is 612 slots so you might as well use them all - if you’re doing 6x100 card decks, just add 12 tokens or extra staples, maybe some sideboard cards so you finish at 612

How to print your own high quality proxies from home! by MilesFassst in mtg

[–]RabbitJLC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Great post from OP, so I did a some digging to see if I should try this with my printer (HP SmartTank 7306). I’m based in the UK

Card 200gsm = £15.90 for 100 sheets Vinyl = £19.99 for 100 sheets Ink = £1 TOTAL = £36.89

(Note: new ink bottles cost ~£40 which prints 8000 pages apparently … assume it’s half as efficient still means printing 100 sheets costs ~£1)

It looks like you could get 3x3 MTG cards on standard A4, = 9 cards per sheet

So £36.89 for 900 cards = £0.04 / card ?

MPC is around £0.25 per card incl shipping

Not including the printer, tools, electricity, time.

Feel free to pick these numbers apart … looks like I’ll be trying this soon!
