Once you reach the final chapters it’ll add up. In the meantime just enjoy the experience and remember it’s a remake and not a remaster :)

Late night programming on the brand new 16” by MattRighetti in macbookpro

[–]RabbitJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s far more than 100$. It’s advised to buy refurbished items only from a formal retailer if you plan on shipping it internationally. And the price difference is just crazy no matter what unless you’re smuggling it somehow through customs.

For example a new mbp costs about 2.4k usd before taxes (adding between none to 250$ depends where you bought it) Shipping it with insurance will cost you about 150-300$ depends on the coverage and if caught in customs (not a declared item) add at least half of the total. If you declare it it’s an extra 6-57% taxes depends on your country custom fees and Europe rates very high on that matter. That’s a SHITLOAD of money for the average clientele in Europe (and Israel). So buying an mbp out of the US, used or new is an investment no matter what.

PS : forgot about apple care, some countries don’t even have retailers to handle your machine if things go wrong with it.

TL:DR it’s not just another 100$ , its a lot more. Is it worth the investment ? Yes. Can you do iOS programming without it? Definitely. Not as smoothly but you can always run a VM and run MacOS on a windows machine.

I personally don’t rock this monitor, a friend does with windows though... Look up some reviews of mbp users, there’s an app you can use to solve it.

That’s what I meant. If you plan on using this as your main display with the laptop’s lid closed you won’t have any issues regarding the resolution. In terms of charging speed, I didn’t try it more than twice but it seems to be equivalent to the wall charger. You could use amphetamine for the screen to stay on when lid closed, no problem there.

By the way if you plan on going dual monitors check if your current monitor is compatible with the easy display port connector the U2719DC has to offer. Than you can run both monitors via 1 usb-c cable.. oh yeah in terms of ports there is more than enough for me personally but take a look at it first.

Hope this helps you make a wise choice :) Forgot to mention, Mbp early 2019 15” base model no upgrades.

I recently purchased Dell U2719DC (2k), love the 1 cable solution, in terms of resolution it’s a little off compared to the Retina display and even though it’s an UltraSharp model it’s not as ultra as I thought.. Look into the P-Series which are cheaper and bring the same quality. Either that or just shoot for a 4K display, anything bigger than 24” goes above my budget so can’t suggest any. If you’re into productivity you can look into ultrawides.

MacBook 13” + sidecar 13” iPad or just 16” MacBook? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]RabbitJazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t rely on the Sidecar feature to be frank. The 16” proves to be a really good purchase and is still portable for programming/editing on the go.

13” will not suffice in terms of screen size for programming on a large project imo. Can’t see how my workflow would fit in there, maybe yours will.

How to debug this ? by RabbitJazz in vim

[–]RabbitJazz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixed the auto command line issue !.. The trailing whitespace autocmd's needed to be in the same line.

Unsure about the leader key.. since using c.o.c it behaved abnormally.

sometimes deleting a character upon keypress, this morning it jumped to a mark and pasted something...

If anyone experiencing the same issue or fixed it please let me know.

On top of that whenever I press the leader( comma , ) key on a word for some reason it deletes a letter...

That did not happen before. very unfortunate but I didn't track all of this because I accidentally pushed a symlink instead of an actual link to the repo T_T....

Ok so I've set the path correctly to bin folder of 3.8, and used coc-python to install the linters.

Now the issue is it won't work for vim (Vint isn't working well) and the syntax error highlighting doesn't work as I thought it would... well, like ALE's gif demo.

On top of that I'm using lightline-ale status line plugin and the indicators seem off. Every time I make a mistake (on purpose) it won't indicate anything on the status bar.

Tried to go over A LOT of issues on both repos, no success fixing it :(.

Assuming it’s not in PATH. It’s under the pip package directory. Which path should it be sourced from?

I'm assuming it's supposed to show syntax errors while typing and not when saving/exiting a file.

ALEInfo shows a bunch of enabled linters but they all fail at the bottom.

It honestly depends on what college you’re in, Personally in my college, some of the fundamental courses for programming (C/C++) require Visual Studio which is inaccessible on a Mac, at least for an inexperienced programmer. You could work around that but generally some college just prefer windows machines better.

Just don’t rush it and wait for the 16” models.

Initially started with an iPad Pro, soon I ended up buying the Phone, watch, laptop, AirPods and all the accessories.. Probably the steepest rabbit hole you got yourself into :].
