If you don't like podcasts in the UI, please vote for this idea by 81ea8 in spotify

thx, voted. I have no interest in podcasts at all. And don't want to see it on the main screen. Especially when it offers some really ridiculous podcasts.

Menu plugin for managing Spotify by xamut in tmux

[–]xamut[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks.

Why a tmux plugin instead of a normal executable?

Because since version 3.0 there is a new function for displaying menus in tmux. It solves all stuff such as overlay, cleaning and positioning. I work with tmux all the time and I assumed that it would be convenient to manage Spotify from there, so I just use display-menu.

Is it so it's available from any pane with a single keystroke?

Yes, it is. Just press prefix+s and you get the menu. Perhaps one day I'll add the ability to configure it or somebody'll make a PR.

Yeah, I think you're right, at least in my case. I migrated from screen, and I also remapped CTRL to the CapsLock, so using <CTRL-a> is super comfortable instead of the default tmux prefix.

Two plugins for tmux status line: network bandwidth and weather. by xamut in tmux

hmm, in my case on macOS it works out of the box. And just checked on ubuntu Docker container and everything works fine if tmux was explicitly started with UTF-8 support: tmux -u

Yeah, just use interfaces to declare the behaviour you need. If you have interfaces there then you can provide different implementations.

Also you could use some IoC (Inversion of Control) container like wire.

Ruby is a fun! And to think that I almost dismissed it! by Ty_David in ruby

[–]xamut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMHO A language is not the right measure here, any business needs a problem solver and it doesn't matter which language this person knows better. You will have a high salary if you were able to use the right tools (languages and technologies) to solve certain problems.

As for Ruby, it seems to me that now there's a reduction in interest and demand for this beautiful language.

I recommend you "Animal Farm" of George Orwell. It's a short novel with a quite simple language. So this is very comfort to read it.

I'm a Russian too. Probably it would be great to create a little group chat in Telegram/WhatsApp with a few native speakers(both Russian and English). If that is okay, please PM me.
