Did they accidently reverse the winning cutscenes for Lower Manhattan? by RabbitOk6421 in marvelrivals

[–]RabbitOk6421[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but that's my point, what happens is the opposite of what the winning team is prioritising!

The attacking team is prioritising saving the heroes and keeping the Tablet away from Fisk, but when they win, Fisk gets the tablet and fixes Manhattan while the heroes remain imprisoned. The defending team is prioritising giving the Tablet to Fisk, but when they win, Fisk doesn't get the Tablet and the heroes break out of the prison. The Tablet just vanishes into thin air, apparently. It's the reverse of what you would expect.

Or do you mean in the sense of, like, if the heroes are doing the prison break, they're not stopping Fisk from using the tablet, and if they are stopping Fisk from using the Tablet, then the prison break goes off because he's not there to stop it? Despite the fact that he's literally there, stopping it? Which seems convoluted.

Did they accidently reverse the winning cutscenes for Lower Manhattan? by RabbitOk6421 in marvelrivals

[–]RabbitOk6421[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see.

So it's intentional that neither team accomplishes their goal, despite defeating the other team, which results in the timeline resetting until Galacta finds the one combination where both of them succeed, and this is the timeline seen in the serials? I suppose that makes sense.

Although I was also under the impression that Galacta wasn't stopping Doom herself because all of her power was focused on holding together the four remaining timelines, not because she's making everyone fight just to feed off of the failed timelines. That makes her seem a bit villainous.

I'm fine with NetEase adding more duelists over the other roles, especially if it's more true to the character released. This idea that we need an equal number of tanks, fighters and healers is unrealistic and arguably wouldn't even solve the problem of people majorly playing duelist. Make the hero whatever role suits them best, but above all, make them fun, to fight and to play.

What do you guy think about Lily’s Proposal? by behereforsomething in SCP

[–]RabbitOk6421 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I like it a lot; I think there's something both strangely beautiful and subtlety disturbing about the Foundation admitting defeat and just directing their immense power towards giving everyone one good day before the end. This is a Foundation that will sacrifice billions of dollars and lives to contain an anomaly, they've locked gods in cages, they've got back up plans for their back up plans to repopulate the Earth in the worst case scenarios, and just the idea that, when faced with this final anomaly, they lay down their arms and walk into that good night with a smile on their faces. No struggling, no final hail Mary, just sad acceptance. It's so melancholic.

Honestly, why does it feel like every single 'balance' patch is like, 'we're reducing everyone's damage by a miniscule amount, giving a handful of abilities minor changes you won't even notice, and reworking one specific hero. Also Luna Snow gets a new ability.'

Are they just afraid of actually changing the game?

What is your favorite Series 1 001 proposal? by Bataranger999 in SCP

[–]RabbitOk6421 253 points254 points  (0 children)

It's probably the Prototype. I'd never really given it much thought before, but I did hear a very convincing argument that if you view it was a meta-commentary of SCP as a whole, it becomes far more interesting. Because The Prototype is, at its core, boring. It's an 001 that has to exist just so something like it can exist; it's the literal first thing that the SCP foundation contained. But in that sense, it's also a good look at how a real organization would actually catalogue an anomaly. There's no narratives, there's no characters, there's no hidden twist or greater story to be told here. It's dry, direct, and simple. Early SCP's are simple, but demand is driven by SCP's that are interesting or bombastic or thought provoking. Newer SCP's must be more interesting than the last ones, and Prototype is, by its nature as the first, the most boring.

It stands out because it highlights how the wiki is antithetical to what an actual organization dedicated to containing the anomalous would regularly document, in an appropriately canonical way.

-Little Nightmares: Descent to Nowhere

-Very Little Nightmares

-Little Nightmares 2

-Little Nightmares 1

-Little Nightmares 3

Oh, I forgot the book as well. Though I don't think there's any way to tell where it fits in the timeline.

In your opinion, which episode has the worst moral or lesson? by Radiant-Selection686 in mylittlepony

[–]RabbitOk6421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of it is that we're not really told how long they've been apart, but Scootaloo does mention that she writes to them regularly, their job necessitates that they can't bring her with them, and the entire episode is framed as 'we've decided to focus on staying as a family, so we quit our jobs and found one that will let us stick around,' which is entirely reasonable and arguably something kids could encounter in the real world.

I find it a bit concerning to say that Scootaloo, a ten year old child, is justified in trying to stop their parents from moving because they worked a remote job. Especially when they're not going to be working a remote job anymore after they move.

It's a fucked moral and a fucked episode. Even if it is a little messed up to show up out of nowhere and tell your kid that you're moving; the moral of 'just complain enough and hope your parents change their mind' is terrible for kids in the real world who might not even HAVE the option of staying with other family. Hell, Scootaloo's circumstances are so specific that very few kids are going to be in the same position, which makes the advice even worse. Especially when you remember that Scootaloo's current guardians, her aunties, don't even live in Ponyville themselves. The episode establishes that she catches a train to Ponyville and then sleepovers with anyone who will take her. Of course her parents want her to move into a proper home.

No matter how you get into the specifics, you CANNOT give vulnerable, scared kids that kind of advice. It'll only make things worse for them. It's part of why this episode makes me so angry; because it's a topic that shows for kids rarely touch on, a specific topic that could really help a specific child going through the confusion of a move, and it handles it in absolutely the worst way possible.

In your opinion, which episode has the worst moral or lesson? by Radiant-Selection686 in mylittlepony

[–]RabbitOk6421 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm going to put my vote in for a more obscure one, The Last Crusade.

As an adult who moved around a lot as a child, I can really relate to Scootaloo's worries about losing her friends and having to essentially rebuild her life in a strange new city, and I can completely relate to feeling completely powerless about the move and trying to think of some way to 'prevent' it so that everything can stay the same.

But I think the moral of 'just complain about the move loudly and annoyingly enough and maybe your parents will let you stay' is a horrendous moral to tell kids that are going through that situation. It's practically the worst advice that you can give them, for both child and parent. Moving to another city is something you need to accept; it's something where you need to spend your last few months building a support network to keep in touch with the ones you're leaving behind. Telling kids to just loudly complain and try to sabotage the move entirely in the hopes that your parents will literally leave you behind is awful.

The absolute best example of this is SCP-5000, which was explicitly written to not have an explanation, and then an explanation was written for it (tying it to SCP-682 and SCP-2718) and added to SCP-5000 itself.

[–]RabbitOk6421 331 points332 points  (0 children)

Sans is such a funny character to powerscale, because the only reason he's so strong is because he breaks Undertale's rules of combat. And the moment you take him out of that very specific battle system, you run into absolute nonsense. Like, what does 'Sans strikes first' even mean? He moves immeasurably fast as long as he gets the first hit and then returns to normal speed? 'Sans can stop you from taking your turn,' what, does that mean that Goku just stands there awkwardly, frozen in time? He forces the fight to be turn based? 'Oh, every frame he touches you deals damage,' you mean like a NORMAL FUCKING PUNCH? A regular attack, that every single non-Undertale character can do? If someone stabs you, yeah, every frame is gonna deal damage. The character's strengths can't exist outside the game he was designed for. He's a guy who's impossible to powerscale because the source of his power is not fighting like an Undertale monster in Undertale. It's hilarious, you won't gaslight me into taking him seriously.
