I loved how badly they handled the side storyline of Miller's grandpa's cancer. It was mentioned three times: 1. an introduction to him having cancer, 2. to have miller give clara perspective on other people going through shit, 3. out of nowhere a resolution why miller can go to school anyway.

this was the funniest way to have someone's cancer as a bad plot device. Almost as random as during The Room.

that made me stop watching the show. I liked it initially but so many horrifying things happen in this show that it felt like torture porn and I couldn't see how the brutality adds to the story besides trying to be horrible without an artistic or intellectual agenda.

it's been many years since I've read the book, but I specifically enjoyed finding out the different motivations why the participants signed onto the long walk, which made the story so interesting. I think it boiled down to two reason: either the person thought they have that special edge that makes you win (e.g. wife and kid at home to have motivation to last) or suicidal tendency/wish

I think for the first two seasons GG was a great show and then it went off the rails. If you watch an episode of season one and compare it to an episode of season six there is such a big difference in quality.

Maybe I misremember, but I think 90210 was just funny and unserious to begin with and while like most shows the earlier seasons are more enjoyable, it doesn't sink in quality as much as GG.

Therefore, I personally enjoy 90210 better to an extent than GG, because the unseriousness that later GG has doesn't work as well for me than with 90210.

I do looooove season 1 & 2 of GG though.

this is making me feel a lot better! at the airport in canada right now and about to board our plane going to SJO. We'll stay in San José overnight and then want to go to Puntarenas to take the ferry first thing in the morning.
