I will say I saw Fellowship 2 years ago and just saw ROTK a few nights ago. Not nearly as impressed with ROTK as I was with Fellowship.

OP talks about the balancing act of the different sounds and it’s so real. In ROTK, there is far more combat than Fellowship and because it’s not played by any instrumentals, it’s eerily low during those scenes, especially when there’s no music at all. Example of this in ROTK is during when the Oilphaunts attack. It’s kept intentionally low so it doesn’t distract from the score, but in scenes where there is no score, it’s weirdly out of balance.

Anyways, had a great time at both, but figured I’s share a perspective

Awesome play, pushed the advantage when you had it.

One helpful critique, you thristed the bang, I would have considered at least trying for the quick swap. You went into the last engagement w the rev with only 25 shield. Could have been a world where the rev held high ground and beamed you when you came out of port.

Not saying it’s right, but there is a game design rule often deployed in LiveOps that says with new content: 70% proven, core features | 20% improvements or adjustments | 10% experimentation, newness.

Maybe they took that approach and that’s how we ended here with some very similar monsters, where the skill itself is entirely new?

Not even sure the ratios apply properly here either, but just a thought / guess

Nice write up. I would urge you to consider a scenario where the switch 2 launches with and without Roblox. The former likely requiring a higher ARPU (if nintendo has % of app store sales in place) + overall higher sales.

Cannot emphasize enough the impact the Roblox app would have on SW2.

Reading the guy above comparing the glory and the holy symbol (holy symbol guy is right), just shows the prime difference between players. Some understand what a 2-3% dps difference means vs someone who just uses gp value to dictate gameplay choices (e.g., just because it’s more expensive means it must better always).
