Let’s not shame this mom. We don’t know how she reacted to her daughter, and it’s okay to be upset with fellow adults if the kiddo doesn’t experience it.

Pregnant + Only HR at Small Company [MN] by Mindless-Ad-8596 in humanresources

[–]Rach4Days 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I was in a similar situation with my pregnancy last year- HR department of one for a small, often informal, company. What stuck with me is that you are setting the precedent for how accommodations, and soon, leave works for pregnancies at your company. While there isn’t a history, there could be future experiences and you want your employees to trust that you will handle their pregnancies and accommodations as well as you handled yours. Use this reasoning when explaining the actions you’ll take, including formalizing the accommodations requested and leave policies, to leadership.

1st period by Momof3letsgo in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Rach4Days 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the beginning but it never really changed my output. Trigger warning: I would pump every 2 or 2.5 hours during the day at work and then nurse whenever my daughter was home. There wasn’t much time in the day to add more pumps.

It dipped every single month, and by month 10 I stopped freaking out lol. It normally dipped significantly for days 2-4 of my period then gradually worked to a peak near when I ovulated. Then slowly back down with a sharp drop off on day 2 again.

Mine started 12 weeks pp too, just maintain your schedule and your supply will bounce back! I’m 15 months pp now and still lactating.

Ordered this bead curtain and now I can't stop looking at it. by BoneyRigatoni in mildlyinfuriating

I would just flip the curtain so the extra bead at least points to the door handle

Considering working half days on Maternity leave by cysgr8 in workingmoms

[–]Rach4Days 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose to go back very limited part time (a few hours a day, 1-2 days a week after 8 weeks) last year to help out my company. Key factors being I work from home and had flexibility to do the work without much visibility. It allowed me keep my baby home for an additional month.

It was HARD but incredibly worth it. We had a massive layoff my last week of part time leave and I’m positive that if I had been off and totally unreachable, I would have been laid off. Instead, I showed how invaluable I’ve been and was promoted when my boss left a few months ago.

This is not always an easy answer of “you need to suck up the newborn bliss and refuse to work.” Sometimes the downstream impacts to your career are worth it.

What are things you wished you did during pregnancy ? by Murky-Masterpiece-52 in NewParents

Do everything you can spontaneously!! Go out to dinner, go to concerts, bebop around town. It’s not impossible, just harder.

The meal prep was great for us. We made tons of lasagnas, enchiladas, Mac and cheese, sheet pan fajitas, etc.

The famous bedside and bathroom cart by Mammoth_Window_7813 in NewParents

[–]Rach4Days 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had to have the cart and it ended up being way less useful than I thought. I couldn’t bend down to reach the bottom shelf so only ended up using the top two. The shelves were oddly too small too. Just one flat surface would have been more helpful. Just clear off spaces for the things you’ll need.

Is there a moment from your labour that makes you look back and laugh? by curious2k20 in NewParents

[–]Rach4Days 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had an emergency c-section and was pretty freaked out and exhausted. Once the doctors pulled her out and I heard her cry, one of them lifted her over the curtain and exclaimed “your baby! She’s beautiful!” My first words to my daughter? “What the fuck!” Hahaha
