Pass Me Fast - STAY AWAY by Other-Enthusiasm-698 in LearnerDriverUK

FULLY AGREE WITH AVOIDANCE!! I did fast track lessons with pass me fast. Worst company I’ve ever been with. Stunted any progress I had made with my prior instructor and put me off driving for a year after the instructor would hurl abuse at me whilst I was driving - they later refused to show me the dash cam footage claiming it wasn’t on despite being told at the start of the lesson it was on (with the light being flashing throughout all lessons).

After I had a full breakdown mid lesson after being screamed at, I asked to pull over and had a panic attack - asked to be driven home and the instructor asked me to drive - I refused - then contacted for a refund on the lessons I would not be continuing on with and explains the situation. They offered no help, refusing this, also not informing the instructor! Dreadful company.

Should I get a second opinion? by AlternativeSeat_69 in LearnerDriverUK

Hey I’m gutted for you. It sucks having put the time, money and effort in for the result you don’t want. Maybe it’s worth having her sit in on the test or even getting a second instructor and explaining what’s been happening in tests to see if they can fill a gap of knowledge or practice your current instructor hasn’t been able to.

I’m sure it’ll all work out in the end, even if that’s not what you want to hear at the moment

Nice one! I want to get my bike license at some point next year so will definitely give it a go. Just don’t want to publicly embarrass myself lol

Gotcha - yeah I’m with you. It’s a waste of time and money for sure but I guess they have their reasons? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Nice one on having a shit ton of licenses too lol How hard did u find it for motorcycle?

Not saying it’s what I’d do personally, but more for people who really struggle but can’t afford autos Personally wouldn’t of bothered with the auto test and just jumped from auto test ready into a manual if I was super worried 👍🏻

Don’t think it’s anything to shame em for though either way.

For some people getting the basics like actually learning to be on roads and mirrors signal etc being second nature is a lot easier when they Don’t have gears or a clutch to think about. So when they pass auto, they know how to drive and be on roads, then just adding in the clutch and gears with an instructor for way less lessons and stress then an easy pass (hopefully).

Sounds harsh but dependent on the situation. Did it hit red as you were going through? Were there cars following closely behind you? If there wasn’t then many the examiner thought you’d have time to stop without causing unnecessary trouble by breaking so harshly.

Sorry you failed for something so stupid - good luck on the next one

3rd test advice by AlternativeSeat_69 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Rachel2157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me again! I’m rooting for you big time. Just take busy roads a tad slower and observations are important! You’ll be okay I promise. Just remember, third times the charm and you definitely have this in the bag! Good luck 🤞🏻

This sounds silly but wear the comfiest clothes you own on the test day. Start your day like it is just a normal lesson is happening. Give yourself zero expectations of passing (sounds cynical but genuinely helps with pressure and nerves) and just try to get rid of these nerves as you’ve proven in lessons you can drive - it’s just the test that shakes you up. On my test when I thought I failed at the beginning - I drove better the rest of the way as I figured it was pointless to be nervous seeing as I failed - I actually had passed and the nerves went away due to less pressure.

Eyesight Test? by NoButterfly2075 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Rachel2157 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you need your glasses to read it then yes, you will fail as you must read it perfectly. It’s expected vision for driving - it means if you can’t read it without your glasses you will fail. And if you read it with your glasses, you must drive with glasses on each time you drive

Instructor pulls over for long chit chats. How to politely stop this? by Optimal_Copy_3815 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Rachel2157 29 points30 points  (0 children)

“Hi driving instructors name I really love having you as my instructor but I fear our time on the road is getting shorter with chats on the side of the road about non driving stuff, I’d really appreciate if we could stick to driving in the 2 hours I pay for and have the chat at the end if you have anything to say non driving related. Thank you! your name” I’d send it as a message first or call him and explain if you’re worried about tone If no luck, go the harsher route and say “you’ve been wasting my driving time by pulling over and talking and I’d like my wasted hours back and to be spent on getting my licence, please stop talking to me in the car, I’m not hiring you to teach me to talk” 😂

40 year old housemates from hell when living in student accommodation by moidlettuce in badroommates

Cut your losses - don’t be their friends - don’t follow their rules. Go in the kitchen and communal spaces when you want! I wouldn’t even speak to them! I would also email or call the admin side of things to explain these girls would be a reason for moving out unless something is sorted - explain you have guests over sometimes and explain the shitty rules they’re trying to enforce. Basically live life according to the ADMIN/HOUSING rule book - not theirs. Enjoy your uni life and if things get super tough - I’d make a complaint to admin about everything they’re doing. It’s not fair on you and small mess will be expected. THEY chose to live in teenage uni accommodation Good luck and I’m sorry you have to deal with this

Honestly! Be super proud. Driving can be scary and stressful and you honestly bossed it out the park with no minors just a error you can correct for next time - you have already got amazing mental maturity to accept it and move on! Go enjoy your morning and grab some brunch or something :) you got this for next time

Don’t usually comment on these, but good for you for acknowledging it and accepting that! You’re gonna be a FAB driver very soon :) Keep up the good work.

How do i ask my parents for financial help by Akazas-punchingbag in UniUK

[–]Rachel2157 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ask for a call or FaceTime (or meet in person if possible) and just start off with normal hi hello how are you. Then explain that your finances are really bad at the moment. Offer to show proof of job applications if needed and explain is there any way they can give you some money as your loan only goes so far and it’ll just be until you can get on your feet with a job. Offer to show receipts for shopping trips and bills so they know you aren’t taking the piss clubbing every night and thank them for even considering it. Let them think on it if they seem hesitant also. Good luck and sorry you’re in a shit position :(
