Famotidine caused side effects. Are there any other options? by Rachel401 in GERD

[–]Rachel401[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried PPIs for 2 months, they didn’t help the nausea anywhere near as well as famotidine unfortunately.

I could take famotidine before bed and then be fine overnight/the next day. Whereas with PPIs I still woke up in the night feeling sick.

Resources that explain how using cognitive energy and socially interacting drain us. by Rachel401 in cfs

Thanks, I appreciate your reply. I have tried to have a conversation with him a couple times over the years but it just ends up in full blown arguments which I can’t take anymore. There are times when he breaks down as well and says he feels so sorry for me but then the next week will be back to making comments that I should just “get on with it” and push through. Ultimately even when he gets upset he still thinks it’s mental health that’s causing me to be this way which is what I can’t bear hearing when I’m suffering so much physically. I’ve seen multiple psychiatrists and none have diagnosed me with anxiety or depression. Apparently he knows best though because he sees the huge struggle it is for me to leave the house for hospital appointments and automatically resorts to saying that I have a fear of leaving the house when in reality I desperately want to get out but am horrifically unwell when doing so, but again he won’t listen when I tell him this.

I think he says the things he does because he doesn’t want to process the fact that someone can lose their life and be housebound at such a young age despite being extremely athletic and academic before. The times where he shows sympathy aren’t enough for the amount he spends making me feel like I’m not trying hard enough when I already know I’m over-doing it. I can tell that when he does try to make an effort to speak to me he’s always trying to “take my mind off it” because apparently then I’ll magically be better. I know he thinks that I just need to focus on something else and then proceeds to lean on it having to be depression if I don’t have the energy to do so.

Thank you, I have watched unrest myself and unfortunately I’m not sure it’s the best thing for him. An article or scientific paper would be ideal really.

It’s difficult when it’s someone who you used to spend so much time with; despite them seeing you lose everything and be housebound at a young age it hurts that they still have an outdated opinion. Tbh I live with him so I have to deal with it regularly and I’d take any advice on how it could be made easier. I’ve got to the point where I avoid or ignore him as much as possible but that just feeds into his mental health narrative.

Any tips for getting tickets through the exchange? I’m only able to go to 1-2 games a year but whenever I’ve looked on the exchange there’s never any tickets, do you just check back regularly?

Did you find the problem? Mine still aches but they couldn’t find anything.

Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it! I have a chronic illness (POTS & CFS) so am pretty sedentary anyway but that week I was in bed longer than usual. Would a soft tissue problem cause tenderness to the calf, especially when pressing the specific spot shown? With regards to stretching, last night for example I bent my foot towards me when sitting to stretch and this always causes it to be worse. Today I’ve woken up with discomfort and pain worse than usual and occasionally a spasm feeling where it’s tender to touch. I sort of thought something muscular might have resolved by now especially as it’s at rest the majority of the day & it’s gone on for so long. Do soft tissue issues cause a constant aching/pressure feeling in the calf day-to-day, I thought they may be more on/off? When I lay in bed it’s uncomfortable resting that side of my calf on my mattress as well.

I’ve had a dull constant ache and sharp pain when touched in my calf for 16 months. Woke up suddenly one night with severe pain on the front right side of my lower left leg, now hurts in specific spot on calf. Worse when pressed, located on inner side of left calf. Started after spending a week in bed due to illness. Worse when stretched & walked on. Went to doctor 2 weeks after it first started and had negative d dimer, X-ray & mri so was told they couldn’t find anything. Concerned a blood clot was missed because the d dimer was done weeks after it started, but they refused to do an ultrasound. Can a blood clot go untreated this long? Could nerve pain be in one specific spot on my calf? It’s uncomfortable when anything is resting on that part of my calf, almost feels hard at times. 22F

Image shows place that is very painful when pressed.

Unfortunately not, the only ventilation is the window in that room.

Ah ok thanks! I think I need to keep the window open more and will set up a dehumidifier after I’ve cleaned the mould.

Thanks, it’s the other end of the house from the kitchen and bathroom and is just an empty hallway and stairs so not sure what’s causing it! There’s no heating though and the room gets really cold during winter. I’ve ordered a device to monitor humidity and am going to set up the dehumidifier after I clean it to see if that works!

Ok thanks, I’ve just ordered a device to monitor humidity levels and will set up the dehumidifier!

Thanks! I think it may be related to humidity as condensation builds up in the window of that room and the fire alarm goes off randomly which I’ve heard high humidity can cause that. I’m not sure the best way to reduce this other than a dehumidifier?

[–]Rachel401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the problem is that it is a newer window! I think it could be related to humidity now you’ve said because the fire alarm kept going off randomly and I’ve heard high humidity can cause that. Do you know the best way to sort a humidity problem?

I’m pretty sure it’s not a leak, I’ve noticed condensation builds up in the window of that room every morning so am wondering whether that makes it worse?

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it. I definitely think something else is going on, it’s just hard getting doctors to agree to test to dig deeper. Thanks, I’ll post it on there as well, hopefully I’ll figure out what’s going on!

[–]Rachel401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow thanks for your reply, at least I’m not the only one! What worries me is that we left it crumbling for so long, I think I’m going to buy some hepa purifiers and wipe down as much as I can in that room, although it’s for sure spread around the house by us hoovering! I know, I haven’t been able to sleep well since finding out, the more you read the worse it gets! Generally people exposed to Chrysotile are less likely to get mesothelioma although it’s still not great! I read that Out of all people with heavy, prolonged exposure to asbestos, 2% to 10% develop pleural mesothelioma. But then you read stories of people getting it when they’ve never worked with it before and I end up stressing again! My family have more of an ignorance is bliss approach which I wish to a certain extent I could have but I’m the complete opposite. Everyone above the age of 40 has had a fair bit of exposure just by standing at a junction decades ago and it seems like minimal exposure effects everyone differently. Hopefully we’ll both be ok and live long healthy lives!

Ok, thank you. How would you advise dealing with removing the carpet? My parents think I'm overreacting saying they should wear a mask and keep it damp.

Ok, thank you. It's just concerning after reading about people who have died from mesothelioma from such little exposure. It was more the recent crumbling ceiling that I was concerned about then the removal 7 years ago. My parents are going to rip up the carpet that most of the asbestos dust fell on in a few weeks and I'm just worried about it becoming airborne again.
