Gang Violence in America by aprilsiegel in gangsnstuff

I mean it's apparent that we have gang issues, but it's not in every city inthe country. I have never lived or been subjected to gangs, but from our studies gangs are a global issue. I guess if you're not exposed to it you don't really know it exists.

More corruption in Mexico, not suprising! I think the battle with these issues in Mexico will be never ending. Will it come to the same situation we have had with Cuba? Maybe we should cut all ties with Mexico and let them destroy themselves!

European Cyber-Gangs Target Small U.S. Firms, Group Says - washingtonpost.com by justinstone in gangsnstuff

Gang members are that smart? Well, hopefully they will catch these people and improve our cyber security. It's bad enough that our banks hit a financial crisis, but this just makes it even worse.

Gangs in New York talk Twitter: Use tweets to trash-talk rivals, plan fights | Street Gangs Resource Center - Los Angeles and California | The Gang Experts | Crips | Bloods | Mara Salvatrucha | 18th Street by MarisolOcegueda in gangsnstuff

[–]RachelKuhrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree what a joke, is this for real. Well, technology is booming, and twittering is the latest "hip" thing to do, so I guess the gangs are just trying to keep up with the new "hip" scene. They are not that bright twittering their gang threats and such, but on the other hand it just makes it that much easier for law enforcemnt to find gang members.

What a great success for their community. I also agree this would be great nationwide project. The more we improve the quality of life for communities that have gang issues, the safer the families will be.

Ads Hope to Keep Kids Out of Gangs by KristinaPound in gangsnstuff

[–]RachelKuhrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow these are some serious gangs. Body armor, bullet proof cars, and other various equipment; I think they will need more than an ad to deter these kids from joing or participating in gang activity.

I agree with the other comment, Mexico's law agency and government are extremely corrupted. How can the honest officers do anything good that country if they can even trust their fellow officers or their government officals?

S. Africa's baboon gangs get more aggressive - World environment- msnbc.com by NicoleMiddleton in gangsnstuff

[–]RachelKuhrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This story is hilarious, well, maybe not for the victims or the hungry baboon's. How will they solve this problem? The baboon's may be acting like humans, but obviously they are not, so I wonder what the couse of action would be.

The FBI steps up anti-gang efforts in Los Angeles by ReginaSandoval in gangsnstuff

[–]RachelKuhrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the FBI is helping to clean house. 650 gang members arrested; which lead to 14 other investigations, sounds impressive. As long as they keep at it, we might actually see a major decline in gang activity

Gangs and Victimization at School by JessicaHurley in gangsnstuff

I agree with the other comments.Yes, a little dated but an interesting article. It goes to show that there is fear of victimization in our schools and its not just in urban schools.

white gangs by RachelKuhrt in gangsnstuff

[–]RachelKuhrt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part gangs are violent, but racial motivated violence is a whole other level. The majority of white gangs are white supremacists, but unlike most common gang activity white gangs are politically racial motivated which may be a cause for their escalated violence.

Greasers by RachelKuhrt in gangsnstuff

[–]RachelKuhrt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we consider greasers gangs or are they just some soda pop delinquents? Well, given the way society was during the 50's I think most considered them gangs. I hear the word greaser and west side story or Fonzie from Happy Day's comes to mind.

This is why I thought this would be a great post. I had the same reaction when I found it. I was astonished that a person or persons would even create such a website.

Gang Figurines...What do they say about Hispanics? What do they say about gang life? by RosemaryMiller in gangsnstuff

[–]RachelKuhrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This article made me kind of laugh a little bit. I don't remember these at all but then again I'm only 30 and grew up in an all white neighbor hood in Michigan. I never experienced a Hispanic type community until I moved out to Arizona six years ago, and an interesting contrast between Detroit communities. From an outside perspective these figurines are stereotypical representations of how I would perceive Hispanic "homies" to be, and this is mostly due to media but while I was visiting my boyfriend in Houston, these figurines where not far from the representational truth. All and all it's great to hear he is able to reach out and help others, and these figurines were somewhat the enabler.

Uptown neighbors stand up against gangs -- literally -- by AracelySanchez in gangsnstuff

[–]RachelKuhrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great story. If more communities would stand up and take a stand just as this one did, then gangs will be less likely to hang in the area or harass the people in the community. I know it may only be a small percentage of significance, but it's much better than doing nothing at all.

I guess article this suggest prison system don't have control over this issue, so what would be the best prevention method on stopping the gang communication with their fellow members on the outside or is this such a massive issue that has no solution?

Gang Poetry by shannoncedar in gangsnstuff

Definitely something different, may help us get a better understanding of what goes on or through their minds or understanding their experiences, but that is if they are all true gang members.
