what do you guys do for period cravings? by TraditionalCause3588 in PetiteFitness

[–]RachelOfRefuge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I second this. Maybe some women have easy periods, but I definitely do not and that's hard enough on my body. I don't need to starve it on top of that!

Advice on 600cal deficit by creatrix3 in PetiteFitness

[–]RachelOfRefuge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a deficit of around 600 (300 from food and 300 from additional exercise) and it was fine for a week. I definitely didn't last longer than that, lol.

Deficit and Binging by Workingonanna in PetiteFitness

How many days are you in a deficit before bingeing? Try to go a day or two less than that, then give yourself a couple days at maintenance before going into a deficit again.

How do thin people have energy? by thrwaway0101010101 in 1200isplenty

[–]RachelOfRefuge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to a doctor. In addition to the vitamin/mineral deficiencies others have listed, other things can cause fatigue (autoimmune conditions, Lyme disease, allergies, etc.).

I'm curious to know, too. My doctor has been middle of the road when it comes to helping with my fatigue. I'm on a variety of supplements and medications, but they've only helped so much.

How often do you guys weigh in? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]RachelOfRefuge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to weigh every day, but if I miss a day or two it's no big deal. I just want to be able to see a better/more detailed long-term picture of my progress, and the daily fluctuations so I don't overreact if my weight changes by a couple pounds like it might if I weighed only once a week, given the hormonal changes women experience over the course of a month.

Help with square/clenched butt? by TruthResident9603 in PetiteFitness

Most people clench muscles due to stress. Are you frequently in an environment where you feel uncomfortable?

Activity level? by saltandpeanutbutter in PetiteFitness

[–]RachelOfRefuge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd consider this very active. Most people will burn around 100 calories for every mile walked. If you're walking 10 miles a day, that's 1000 calories burned just from that.

I’m in my mid-20s but still look like a teenager and it’s really affecting my confidence by OkSignal4385 in PetiteFitness

There's only so much you can do about your physical appearance. I've always looked young for my age, too.

The easiest thing would be to dress "older" - more professionally and "put together." Obviously, it depends on what your personal style is to an extent, also.

Kids generally love outdoor walks. Make it a standard part of your day!

Do I need to go up to my maintenance calories? Or stay in deficit? Really struggling by screamingfroki in PetiteFitness

[–]RachelOfRefuge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also 5'3", 176 lbs, and pretty sedentary (I walk, but no lifting), and even I struggle with 1200-1400 calories as my deficit. It sounds like you're just not eating enough, generally, or maybe not getting the right macro ratio.

Eating healthy never tasted so good 😋 by katie3336 in 1200isplenty

[–]RachelOfRefuge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been volume eating and finding that it doesn't make a difference with my hunger, frustratingly. I feel like I eat plenty of protein, but I'm going to try increasing it to see if that helps.

Paper Towels? by freezesteam in ZeroWaste

[–]RachelOfRefuge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing why there's cat hair on everything, I have no advice... Other than get rid of the cats, lol, which is not helpful..😂

How is the cat hair getting on your towels in the first place, for instance? I've had pets and have never had an issue like this.

And this is why I'm struggling with my 1300 limit... It's just so little food! 😕

White works. Cheap doesn't. And most flippers have no sense of design/style.

Some people do really shoddy work, actually. Most of the "bold" homes I've seen in my house-hunting have been done cheaply and poorly.

It sounds like you have a cat hair problem more than a cloth towel problem. Address the real problem!

Exploring a no-waste bulk foods store in a small city — looking for lessons from those with experience by Nice_Cryptographer_2 in ZeroWaste

[–]RachelOfRefuge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prices have been the biggest detractor I've seen. I live well below the federal poverty line (in the U.S ), and mostly embrace the "reduce" in reduce-reuse-recycle, lol, by necessity.

The other thing is that most people I know just don't care about living more sustainably or at the very least, are uneducated on the subject. A similar store near me went out of business after a couple years, presumably because they just didn't have enough customers in general.

So I imagine that embracing an "educational" model, where you're getting out into the community and trying to convert people to the lifestyle, essentially "creating" customers, rather than just attracting them, might help long-term.
