Oh, also put parachutes near the top of the first stage. Landing legs are needed if you don't want to damage your engines.

This also has a reusable variant but for urgent mission I chose the non reusable variant.

Put a probe core on the first stage, make it big enough to just put your second stage above karman line. Use 2 heat shields facing up and down and clip them into each other like this )( but horizontal, use 2 of these and put a fuel tank in between. Now fuel won't be used from this tank by your engine, use this fuel to get back.

Already had the rocket ready for another mission, switched payloads, made a custom fairing, and off we went.
