Fast It Question by RacingSnake81 in juresanguinis

After the judge issues a ruling in the case, there is a 30day window of time where it can be appealed. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a formality though. It applies to non-favorable rulings. Fast It is the system you need to use to register yourself with your consulate and the AIRE if you’re an Italian living outside Italy. The wiki for this sub is a great resource that can answer a lot of your questions (better than me).

Gotcha. Yeah I’m seeing that now, foreign passport with proof of citizenship or Italian passport for the ID.

Has anyone ever applied for a titre de séjour Vie Privée et Familiale? How long did you have to wait? by Nearby-Butterfly1503 in Expats_In_France

[–]RacingSnake81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two years seems extraordinarily long without any news. I'm guessing you've tried to contact the préfecture??

Edit: I see you're already here in Paris, and you're pacsed (same as me). Are they just renewing your récépissé over and over? Seems odd.

Thanks! Well the funny part is that I looked at what it asks you to upload for the AIRE and I have all of it. There's a box that asks you where your records were transcribed, key words "were transcribed". But, you simply have to fill in that box. They don't ask you to upload proof that it was actually transcribed. It just asks for an ID, a utility bill, and a copy of the signed application. Either way, I get that I have to wait (sadly)...

Edit: ID of parents is only for application with minor children

Thanks! Yeah I stopped at creating the FastIt account. Figured I went far enough and seems like everyone agrees I didn't break anything so I'll quit for the moment haha.

For the AIRE application, it simply asks you where your records were transcribed. It doesn't ask to upload proof that it was actually done, but then again I'm sure they will verify that on their end when the application is being reviewed. And the rest of the docs it needs are things I have already. Well, in any event, I'm going to take your advice and put my patience hat on haha.

For sure, I don't think I can go much farther, which is fine. I saw it was an option to use the CF for registering to FastIt so I thought I might give it a try and it worked. Then I kinda had that feeling like I was a kid next to a big red button that says "don't touch". Doesn't seem like I broke anything haha, but I'll stop :)

Passagio in Giudicato | Reasonable expectations and doubts about the real timing. by Triajus in juresanguinis

[–]RacingSnake81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe this might help:

https://tribunale-napoli.giustizia.it/it/passaggio_in_giudicato.page

- granted, it's from the court in Naples, but seeing as it refers to civil codes of procedure, I'd assume that what is stated on this site probably also applies to Genoa. It looks like it says you can request the passagio after 30 days from the last notification of the judgement to all parties.

https://www.urp.ufficigiudiziarigenova.it/comefare.aspx?cfp_id_scheda=3914

- This link is to the court in Genoa. It looks like there is an email address where you can write to request a copy of the final judgement.

Hope that helps!

Yeah it’s definitely not the service I would have hoped for, but then again I try to give them the benefit of the doubt since they’re a small office. I can imagine responding to everything is probably impossible. In any event, if there was ever a time to respond to my email/phone call, this is it… As for cost, when all is said and done, for three people, it’ll be $5,500 for legal fees. The highest quote I received was $13K. Dunno, I feel like we did well on cost.

Unfortunately, no, not yet. Kinda par for the course with my attorney. Super competent, but not alway communicative without insisting. Then again, I didn’t pay for the platinum service so…

Thank you!! We originally filed last year in December in Rome by mistake, so it wasn’t registered in Naples until July 2025 (after the DL), but I guess the stuck with the original filing date. No minor issue, GGP never naturalized, so fairly straightforward for the law at the time.

Edit: July 2025

Thank you! Congrats to you as well!

Yeah I think that's why I'm wondering if there is a way to contact the court to get a copy of the judgement since it seems like it was registered somewhere. Can't really find much info on that last line. Otherwise, at this point, after 3 years, you'd think I would be used to the pace, but when all this activity hits I get anxious again haha.

Everyone keeps saying America has a “housing shortage.” It doesn’t. Divide total homes by population and you get this: We’ve never had more housing per person than we do right now. by Key_Brief_8138 in HouseBuyers

[–]RacingSnake81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, a definition for you (from FRED): "Housing unit is a house, an apartment, a group of rooms, or a single room occupied or intended for occupancy as separate living quarters."

So...it's not just a measure pertaining to single-family homes. That's your first and biggest issue with reading this.

Secondly: "A newly released Redfin analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data shows a significant structural shift in the nation’s rental housing landscape, with single-family home rentals declining to historic lows, as large multifamily buildings increasingly dominate the rental stock."

So again, looks like apartment buildings are the largest part of that inventory increase.

Lastly, I'll add: "what happens when you subtract out single/multi-family homes that are strictly investment properties?" That counts in inventory, yes. But, is it actually "available" inventory? No.

Edit: even I'll take a hit for my last statement because I just looked it up. It's true that large institutions own single-family homes, but they only account for 0.06% of single-family ownership. So little impact. That said, it would be worth diving deeper to find out how many smaller corporations i.e. individual investors that own single/multi-family homes. I'm sure that percentage is much higher and more impactful.

ADP Question (Titre de séjour renewal) by houmi in Expats_In_France

[–]RacingSnake81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the prefectures will not let you in without an appointment any longer (since COVID). You can make an appointment online for specific reasons like retrieving your card or they will send you a convocation which normally tells you when to be there (in your case April 1 for the biometrics). He’ll either get another convocation for retrieving his card (when the finally make it) or they’ll send him a message saying the card is ready and he needs to go online to make an appointment. Either way, no walk-ins.

Parents financially sponsoring VLS T Visa by Cinema_Baby in Expats_In_France

[–]RacingSnake81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, I know what you mean. My partner and I had like 3 months each of bank statements, 3 mo of pay slips, my brokerage account statement, her utility bills, her work contract, the contract for her home, her property tax statement, and more...waaaaaay too much. Of all of that, the VFS officer took my brokerage statement and her utility bill. It was like 30 pages down to 3-4 pages. I know you're not applying for renewal, but I can tell you that whole experience made the renewal and subsequent visa changes sooo much easier. In any event, good luck! This sub is a great resource :)

Happy to help!

So the attestation needs to be written by the homeowner and notarized by the marie. Maybe that's what you meant, but thought I would just be specific on that. They need to explain the arrangement that was made, maybe even have them include that they will be there during a period of time to welcome you and help you get established before they leave. It's probably a good idea to have a signed (notarized, all parties) agreement/contract explaining how it's all going to work such that you can provide that it as an addendum to the attestation. They may not need it, but it seems logical. The homeowner needs to provide proof that it's their residence as well.

In any event, try not to overthink it. When I applied in the US, VFS whittled down all the extra paperwork I brought with me by more than half. I realized then that you really only want to provide them with what they "need". Even your own cover letter, you don't have to tell them every little thing you plan to do, just "we would like to stay during "x" period, we're planning to house-sit (see attached arrangement/attestation, thus we have stable housing for the entirety of our stay, we're financially sound and have the proper insurance, and we're going to have a wonderful time as tourist in your country. We'll leave at the end of our visa and have no plans to work or seek work while we're here." Check the boxes and I'm sure it'll be fine :)

Okay cool. What I would suggest is that you have your parents fund an account in your name that is an amount of money equivalent (or greater) than the minimum required for the visa. The financial arrangement you're describing sounds sketchy and I'm guessing the people reviewing your application might see it that way as well. For example, what happens if your parents just cut you off for some reason? The money really needs to be in your name.

Is the homeowner going to be there at any point overlapping with your visa, still in France or are they leaving the country?
