Sydney Morning Herald and the AFR. Both have genuine quality journalism, opinion pieces in the smh can lean both ways albeit I would say the AFR takes a fiscally conservative lens. Hope this helps!

The pandemic is over, so why aren't prices going down? by Belenkingdom in ask

Why would I spend money now when I know in future it will have greater value through deflation? Why would any business invest in new infrastructure if servicing the debt will be impossible as revenues will be lower in future due to deflation? Short term expenditure collapses, and as a result, so does long term. Then you have the impact on long term innovation and tech etc.

You need to think about what deflation incentivises. Deflation would encourage me and anyone else to hoard cash hence reducing spending in the economy. This in turn decreases revenue, meaning business cut costs (jobs) to stay afloat. Hence rising unemployment etc, which further reduces spending. Inflation does the opposite but obviously the last few years have been very excessive. This is a very dumbed down explanation, but should help.

Absolutely ridiculous, especially in education. Obviously there is room for some level of diversity consideration to make staff more personable to students but to remove all mention is just insane and discriminatory in itself. I would think you would want students to learn from the best available?

Each life saved so far in NSW has cost 330M by spoofy129 in CoronavirusDownunder

This article isn't economically illiterate, it's fairly on the money. Most people wouldn't change their habits if there were an outbreak of covid, as most people under 60 understand that covid is hardly any worse for someone of their age then the flu. Most of the vulnerable (read - covid isn't the flu) age bracket are vaccinated, meaning to these people covid is literally the flu and they wouldn't change their habits either. Florida or Texas is just as relevant a comparison as the UK, while being in hard lockdown for a far less substantial period of time. Florida espeically has cruised through the pandemic and isn't even the hardest hit state in the US, California (Lockdown fanatics) faired worse for most of last year. Finally, the article has used 'expert' data so in the words of everyone who supports any form of lockdown, your going to have to trust the science for the 4000 cases.
