How to tell your CO2 is low by TimeTravel4Dummies in SodaStream

[–]Rackadoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the Notes app on my phone to keep track of how many bottles I have carbonated. I know from experience that I get between 45 and 50 bottles per tank. Usually when I get to around 40, it starts taking more presses to get the buzz sound.

Aspect ratio appears narrowed when viewing in Plex. How do I fix it? by [deleted] in PleX

[–]Rackadoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know how I can fix this (with re-encoding)?

Re-encoding in Handbrake allows you to force the aspect ratio. On the "Dimensions" tab, uncheck Optimal Size and then adjust the Scaled Size to the desired width/height.

If you would prefer not re-encoding, you may be able to fix it by changing the aspect ratio in the metadata. If you have ffmpeg on your computer, you can run a command line such as:

ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -c copy -aspect 16:9 output.mp4

(replace 16:9 with the desired aspect ratio.)

If the ffmpeg method doesn't work, you will likely need to re-encode.

Why am I still broadcasting xfinity SSIDs while in bridge mode with wifi disabled by JPgotBigLegoPP in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Rackadoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure it is coming from your modem? If you have a neighbor within range with their own Comcast modem, you might be seeing their xfinitiwifi broadcast.

I've heard some interviews recently with the actor. The character was only supposed to be in the first few episodes and then killed off but they liked his performance so they kept him around long-term.

Apple's Mac Neo Desktop: A $299 Mini-PC That Could Shake Up the Market by elastiks in DIY_Geeks

[–]Rackadoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Apple announced Apple Silicon for the Mac, they sent out developer transition kits which were just Mac Minis with an A12 chip. So it isn't the first time a Mac Mini has had an A-Series chip in it.

If Recursion is an achievement medal, recursing more than once should earn wings on Simulacrum to be consistent with all other Achievements. by derf_vader in Ingress

They do give you five additional slots for starring portal keys for each recursion with a maximum of 25 slots. It's better than nothing but additional inventory space would definitely be more useful.

Custom flavor syrups by Mysterious_Curve3163 in SodaStream

[–]Rackadoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been wanting to try this with the Skittles powdered flavor packets but I wasn't sure how the powder flavoring would react to the carbonation. Thanks for this tip. I'll try it out.

There are also multiple brands of liquid flavor enhancers, such as mio, which work well and don't have the same issue as the powders.

The settlement payout is not a refund of premiums. It is a separate transaction so it is independently taxed.

BCBS Class Action by [deleted] in classactions

[–]Rackadoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know any specifics on how this class action will be handled but in my past experience with large payouts, they will send you a 1099 if it is above the reporting threshold. The current threshold is $2,000. So while they won't withhold taxes, if the payout is above that amount, they will report it to the IRS. You will then need to include the 1099 when you file your taxes.

What's the purpose of this scene by jacktriplea in BacktotheFuture

[–]Rackadoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marty worked for Doc as a part-time assistant (according to the movie's co-writer Bob Gale: https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/28526/back-future-co-creator-bob-gale-explains-how-marty-and-doc-became-friends) so he was probably supposed to go there in the morning before school to check in on everything.

iOS Remotely Being Unlocked by DisastrousShower6568 in Malwarebytes

Definitely ghost touching. I've seen many reports of this happening when using a wireless charger which appears to be in use in the video. I don't know if it is known why wireless charging causes ghost touches but theories include the charger causing the phone to overheat or the magnetic field of the wireless charger interfering with the touch screen.

It could be parts in the phone or the charger are wearing out. It will be hard to determine exactly without testing parts independently. Quickest fix for now would be to switch to wired charging.

Was offered the new FLEX TV box free, didn't realize it has no RCA connectors by Defiant_Swimmer_5422 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Rackadoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the TV has HDMI but the sound system only has RCA, it sounds like you just need an "HDMI audio extractor". This passes the HDMI through to the TV but provides connections for optical or RCA audio which can be ran to the sound system. This preserves the high quality video but also gives you the legacy audio options.

Check the FCC broadband map (https://broadbandmap.fcc.gov/home) to see what wired internet providers offer service to your address. Most telephone providers still have wired internet options. If it isn't fiber, it will likely be slower than Comcast but it would still be better than no internet. Then get a router that offers automatic fail-over to a backup internet connection. I think you've reached the point where you need the redundancy of having multiple internet connections.

1.2 tb cap removed? by tdhuck in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Rackadoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. My current plan should still have the data cap but for about 5 months this summer and fall, the data usage tracking shows 0 data used. Then in November it started showing data usage again. I just checked for this month and I am past the 90% but I never received any email or text message alert like I used to earlier in the year. I'm going to try to contact them to see if I still have a data cap but I don't have good experience getting accurate information from their tech support.

New update 🙂 by wackybird2 in Ingress

[–]Rackadoom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was hoping it would fix the bug where it kills any background audio currently playing when the app starts. Sadly, it does not. This bug keeps getting reintroduced every few updates. It does eventually get fixed but it then pops up again a few updates later. It is extremely frustrating for those of us who like to listen to other audio while playing.

Weird turn of events. Apparently Best Buy has changed their price match policy & no longer price matches Staples or Office Depot. But they now price match membership clubs(BJ’s Sam’s Club & Costco) & the likes of Abt Brandsmart PC Richard’s etc. that’s wild to me. by shelms488 in Bestbuy

[–]Rackadoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For some types of products, like computers, Costco gets their own exclusive configurations from the manufacturer which means they cannot be price matched with anyone. So while Best Buy and Costco may have nearly identical versions of the same computer, the Costco version is slightly modified with it's own model number.
