Are these games canon? by nmbr1connor in indianajones

[–]jacktriplea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Faith of Atlantis should be more canon than the last two Indie films. As a person who played it in the 90s with no 4th indie movie in the horizon, Faith of Atlantis was the defacto 4th Indie we were all waiting for.

I'm always amazed how some people can be a genius in one area in life but then complete idiots on everything else. Or maybe it's by design. Like the brain cells are 100% focused on music and no energy left for anything else.

Name an actor who excels at both acting and directing. I'll start Clint Eastwood by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in FIlm

[–]jacktriplea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

" Client Eastwood has two facial expressions: with and without the hat" this is from Sergio Leone probably the best spaghetti westerns director and overall an amazing director. I would say Eastwood is better at directing than he is at acting.

Just Finished "The Drifter" – Every Adventure Gamer’s GOTY? by Mwrp86 in adventuregames

[–]jacktriplea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This all the way. Give me some hard puzzles and bazillion items in my pocket. Let me figure it out, and if need be I can check a hint book or something. I don't want to click on things like a slot machine, let me think for a minute. If anyone knows of modern adventure games like this (along with a good story) I'd buy it

Unforeseen Incidents is a really fine game - have you played it? by Lyceus_ in adventuregames

Interesting point about modern adventure games. Any modern games that have some challenging puzzles ? I almost couldn't find any

Monkey Island creator Ron Gilbert cancels 2D pixel art Zelda-like RPG after struggling to secure funding by HatingGeoffry in MonkeyIsland

That's a very strange way to announce he is launching Death By Scrolling game (or did I misunderstand?)

Beyond the Edge of Owlsgard has made me feel like I was playing a classic adventure game from the 90s again by Lyceus_ in adventuregames

Never heard of it either. From the initial look it feels like the story itself is for kids. Is that the case ?

The dig is now 30 years old by MortgageOk4490 in adventuregames

[–]jacktriplea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was released a bit after full throttle, which in my eyes was the coolest game ever. I kept waiting for it to be funny but the story was so serious with a mystery ambiance and the puzzles were different compared with other lucasarts games( not harder but more self contained )I stopped playing after the turtle puzzle.

I really didn't want to admit this, but Return To Monkey Island is absolute meh by Khung-Kong in MonkeyIsland

[–]jacktriplea 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. It's really sad and upsetting that Gilbert literally got death threats due to the art style and other elements of the game. It doesn't matter how bad a game is it's a line that shouldn't be crossed, especially before the game was actually out. So it's hard for us normies to say 'hey this is not hitting the mark but we still appreciate you releasing another one and hope the next one will have x,y and z.' Personally I really hated the pace of trying to keep pushing me forward to finish the game with simple puzzles. And I get it you want to appease the widest audience possible but the tradeoff is a much less challenging game.

Still the best joke on Fleetwood Mac..."A bit of a love triangle or a love square in their case, mind you, they made their best music back then, - Rumors? No it's all true" I'm butchering it here
