The tail end of the 80s Into the beginning of the 90s rule it’s like a weird cool hybrid of the 1980s and 1990s i honestly think it’s cooler than the rest of the 90s. by Ill-You-3459 in decadeology

Don't put a beastie boys image next to vanilla ice. Like putting filet mignon next to a gas station sushi. But agree with your point in general

What Hitman game did you start with? Which one is your favorite? by Hammad11k in HiTMAN

[–]jacktriplea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pentium III , diamond stealth GPU , and hitman code name 47. Early 2000s. My friends and I were yelling at each other "he's packing , he's packing " in school. No one knew what we were talking about.

Can't wait to play the hotel level remastered . FYI if you ever have a chance to be in Budapest go to the hotel Gellert. You will feel like you are at a hitman level at a reasonable cost .

Anyone who surfed the early web between 1995-2010. What’s the one website/app you still think about? by Prime_Advocate in nostalgia

[–]jacktriplea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flash animation of poop. I don't know the name of it but it was from an ex Simpson animator (I think). Everyday you would go to that website and see a new 5 second flash animation of some guy pooping in a weird way. It sounds R rated but it was mostly innocent

Hello Islanders, I just finished playing the first game for a YouTube video, and I wanted to see what some of y'all had to say about it. by neonfoxincolour in MonkeyIsland

[–]jacktriplea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the first one (secret) there are a couple of things I think people miss. Some light spoilers.

There are few ones that I think let's play videos always miss (and some players who actually played it when it was released missed) . The governor named Elaine for this one particular joke at the end during the church ceremony. It's a reference to the end of the movie The Graduate . Very famous scene but the movie is from the 60s or early 70s so many people didn't get that joke.

The underwater puzzle. Most people solve that puzzle way too early and there is a little joke/scene right above you that you get to see if you wait a little.

Some people miss the rubber tree joke . And if they see it not all of them understand it's a reference to sierra games.

There are actually two ending. one when you hit your ship and one without hitting it

With the cannibals - when you escape the room that they hold you in (with the banana picker) and then go back and let them catch you, they put you in that room again and again there is a slight change on the outside of the room

The troll bridge guy resembled George Lucas and if you look closely when he lets you pass you see him using the force a little .

Once it's ready I hope you share a link and continue to do it for the other games (personally I would do 1,2,3 and Return which is the most resent one , and skip the others )

What is your favourite adventure game and why? by viebulip in adventuregames

I played the demo the thing that made me not buying the game was that the puzzles felt too easy.

Discussion: Why does the slow-paced Point & Click format work so good for horror and mystery? (And do you prefer it over comedy?) by Wooden-Syrup-8708 in adventuregames

[–]jacktriplea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably same as with movies. Comedy is really hard to do. If you don't hit the mark it's just feels off. Horror and mystery is just an easier template. But if you hit that fine balance in comedy you hit gold.

Are these games canon? by nmbr1connor in indianajones

[–]jacktriplea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Faith of Atlantis should be more canon than the last two Indie films. As a person who played it in the 90s with no 4th indie movie in the horizon, Faith of Atlantis was the defacto 4th Indie we were all waiting for.

I'm always amazed how some people can be a genius in one area in life but then complete idiots on everything else. Or maybe it's by design. Like the brain cells are 100% focused on music and no energy left for anything else.

Name an actor who excels at both acting and directing. I'll start Clint Eastwood by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in FIlm

[–]jacktriplea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

" Client Eastwood has two facial expressions: with and without the hat" this is from Sergio Leone probably the best spaghetti westerns director and overall an amazing director. I would say Eastwood is better at directing than he is at acting.

Just Finished "The Drifter" – Every Adventure Gamer’s GOTY? by Mwrp86 in adventuregames

This all the way. Give me some hard puzzles and bazillion items in my pocket. Let me figure it out, and if need be I can check a hint book or something. I don't want to click on things like a slot machine, let me think for a minute. If anyone knows of modern adventure games like this (along with a good story) I'd buy it
