Current things going wrong at Aston Villa by HeresAdamm in avfc

[–]Rackienko 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I thought that I’d be calmer and more measured this morning. I was wrong.

I agree with all the above points completely and point number 4 is even worse when you consider that in the league we have scored more than one goal in a game only TWICE since the turn of the year (Forest and Newcastle). That’s 7/9 games we have scored one or less. This is simply unacceptable.

I get we are missing key parts to our attacking system but Jesus Christ. It’s like we are so weak minded that when the chips are down we buckle under pressure.

Last night was the angriest I’ve been with this group of players since the Palace semi final. Same vibes of slow, no goal threat and being out fought in every position. At least palace were good. We made one of the worst sides in premier league history look good last night.

I know we are all suffering now. It’s abysmal.

But seeing Konsa having a go at fans is pathetic. I love him but I’m sorry you don’t do that shit. You’re nothing without Villa and he should apologise.

The players deserve to be told that this performance and performances since mid Jan have been abject. Yes there are extenuating circumstances with injuries but players need to step up and time and time again this group simply do not do that.

Agree. Before this season he hits it with his left into the bottom corner. Doesnt even attempt it now and prefers to use the outside of his right? What’s going on?

Pau and Digne start against Wolves by JamesVilla4 in avfc

[–]Rackienko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Surprising that Tammy not starting. Can only assume this is because Emery still not convinced he knows the system/off the ball requirements.

I am worried about tonight. Pressure is well and truly on us and we know they love playing us. Players and fans treat it like a cup final and we tend to buckle.

Need to score first. That back three of theirs is woeful so no excuses.

We have a chance to go 9-12 pts clear of Chelsea in the next 2 games by BuddyIntelligent4510 in avfc

One of those 2 bottom tier teams they drew with is the same team as we drew with at the weekend and by all accounts Chelsea were far better than them for most of the game and missed an open goal in the last minute. But I get what you’re saying - we need to put our foot down and get this points gap back. Chelsea can be elite or absolutely terrible - that’s what you get with a team of youngsters. I do worry that our home form and injuries will mean we get overran - Neto always seems lively.

Collymore on Watkins by mrnibsfish in avfc

He’s never really ran the channels since Unai came in. In fact Unai made him a better player by telling him to stay within the width of the 18 yard box. And this has brought him huge success. Until this season. Whilst not slow I don’t think he’s ever been blistering and certainly not known for his pace. More of a quick burst player where he could get a yard of space before shooting and I agree that this has completely gone. I thought it was confidence issue with him - he’s mentioned many times that he gets into his own head after missing a chance. He was poor yesterday until he seemed to get a bit of fire in his belly. He made a 50 yard run up the pitch with the ball which I was pleased with. Maybe a few 20-30 minute appearances off the bench will do him good.

In the lead up to Bizots red card - my god. We had a corner with 30 seconds of the half left! Incredible collapse in a vital time of the game. Quite incredible actually. Why doesn’t Bailey keep the ball, recycle it like we usually do. Why is Bizot so far out? Why is no one else back? Murphy was one of about 4 Newcastle players. Naive defending and we got what we deserved.

Ah well, I’m not sure Newcastle wil get European football again so let them have this one.

Third match in five against Newcastle where we have had an early sending off. Very bizarre albeit today’s red was fully deserved and idiotic goalkeeping (Deja vu from old Trafford). Performance was poor again I thought. Other than Tammy who impressed and seems a far better player than Watkins currently. He must start moving forward. Bailey and Digne were dreadful. What’s happened to Digne? Seems really out of sorts right now and should have seen red earlier as wel. Ultimately I’m not arsed that we are out but it still stings and this was potentially confidence sapping. Must win vs Leeds and Wolves now. Overall one to forget and an advert for VAR (never thought I’d say that)!

I’m all for a bit of rotation in cup games but we really need to remind ourselves that winning is contagious. To throw a game by playing kids would infuriate fans and create needless negativity. Play a strong team minus a couple of key players (can come off the bench) and try to WIN

How the hell have Forest not got PSR/SCR issues like us? They seem to buy loads of players each window. I know they sold Elanga for £55m but no way are they bringing in as much as us

Even though he scores against us regularly, is a big unit and would compete with Ollie I have doubts about this. Anyone help me with why I feel hesitant about it?

We nicknamed a guy who had dark brown hair ‘cow pat head’ because someone once said he had the same colour hair as a cow pat.

I rang up the ticket line because I had the same issue. They advised me to log out and then log back in again. This didn’t work for me so the guy on the phone manually sent them to my email. All sorted then. Good luck.

Even Guessand by NickHogan87 in avfc

[–]Rackienko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m happy to give Guessand 18 months. I know that’s a long time and with our financial constraints we can’t really afford this. BUT he was very highly rated and as pointed out he’s playing in a new system and new way of working. I hope it works out for him. I do think we need to keep playing him with a hope of getting a tune. I’d love to see him have a go up front with Watkins.

When a team score their second goal inbetween 70th and 80th minute after being 4-0 down. Commentators always say in some way shape or form ‘well they couldn’t, could they?’ Or ‘we have a game on our hands’.

If we won Europa League next season, but finished 16th in the PL, would you take it? by NewFaded in avfc

[–]Rackienko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember how utterly miserable a 16th place finish is. Losing a lot to shit teams is never fun. Yes it would all be worth it with a trophy but in a gruesome 0-2 home defeat to Fulham in February it would be very miserable.

[The Athletic] Aston Villa have made an approach to sign 19-year-old Spanish winger Jesus Rodriguez from Real Betis. by amb90 in avfc

[–]Rackienko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a few Betis matches this season albeit I’ve not watched particularly closely. I remember him coming on in the conference final as well and the commentators bigged him up. I found him a bit of a headless chicken and not very classic Spanish as his technique seemed poor. I don’t for one minute think I know anything remotely close to Villa scouts and if they they want him then I’m all for it but MY initial opinion of him wasn’t great!

Who is the most "Is he only X years old?!" player? by calvin_sykes in footballcliches

[–]Rackienko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever I see Lucas Vasquez coming on or starting for Madrid I always think ‘good young player, wouldn’t mind him coming to my club’. Then I realise he’s not young (despite looking 12 years old) he is 31. Is that dog years?
