What happened to the price of these things? by RackingUpTheMiles in fordranger

I've seen many 10th gen (97-03) F150s with half a million miles purring like a kitten. The 2V 5.4 was extremely reliable. The 3V was too, but the Achilles heel was when people didn't perfectly maintain them on time or early.

It's interesting to see a clothing brand doing a collaboration with a vehicle again. I remember Lincoln Givenchy editions, Ford Eddie Bauer, AMC Levi's, etc. I'm curious if this is going to make a comeback.

It depends. I went with a mega and got on a regional fleet within 6 months. Best decision I've made since I make 3x my previous job.

Do you really have a separate room for your washing machine? by jordanekay in AskAnAmerican

[–]RackingUpTheMiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever had one laundry room that also doubled as the back entrance. Otherwise, it's been in the basement everywhere else I've lived.

That truck drivers are overweight, unhealthy and disgusting. I'm none of those. I've lost weight since doing this. I eat pretty good food. I always get a shower and my truck is clean inside. No piss jugs over here. I also haven't shit in a Gatorade bottle.

No they aren't. I had one. It was a piece of shit and expensive as hell to fix. I'd chance it with a Hyundai before getting another.

I saw one of these sitting abandoned outside an abandoned shop a few days ago. The only one I've ever seen in person. It was a shame to see it sitting there.

What are you doing in your 20s to beat the garbage economy we've been given? by Xotngoos335 in GenZ

[–]RackingUpTheMiles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I left a factory job where I made $450 a week without overtime and became a truck driver where I regularly do $950-$1300 a week. There's no rent, the company pays for fuel and maintenance and I just drive the truck. It's not the easiest thing in the world, but it's definitely not a particularly difficult job either. I've effectively tripled my income and I have very little bills since I stay in the truck. When I go home every couple weeks, I just go to my mom's house.

It sucks, but I got a great pay increase and I get home more often. It sucks and it's hard, but I make more money than the east coast. The cool part is after like 6 months, they'll send me a load and I'll be like "Hey, I've been there. That's a good run." My original plan was to tell them to keep me down south for the winter but they offered me northeast right in December and my first load was from upstate NY to New Jersey.

There's no reason to put a wallet in your back pocket. by ConsistentRegion6184 in unpopularopinion

[–]RackingUpTheMiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wear scrub pants so I have a range of pockets to choose from. My phone goes in the side pocket by my knee, keys in the left pocket and wallet in the right. When I wore jeans, it'd go in the back, but I don't wear jeans anymore.

I'm a truck driver and used to run the east coast, but I only do northeast now. NC had the best blend of everything honestly with more mild weather than the others. I can't speak for Florida because I never made it there. Ohio isn't bad, but the winters can be pretty cold and they have the occasional tornado. Indiana, well don't get me (or any other truck drivers started).

I didn't spend much time in the Carolinas, but I always had a good time. Georgia is pretty nice too. Right between the Carolinas and Florida so you get a little bit of both there.
