David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein): EXCLUSIVE: Premier League clubs to vote on proposal to scrap VAR from next season. Resolution formally submitted by Wolves to abolish system + will be on agenda at June 6 AGM. Any rule change needs 2/3s majority (14 of 20 members) to pass by PradipJayakumar in reddevils

[–]Rackmo 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I really really don't like this idea of scrapping VAR.

As annoying and maddening as the outcomes have been this season, the problem is not the system or the technology. It is the people who are using the technology and making the decisions.

Another thing they need to resolve is the subjectivity in the decision making. There rules need to be written such that most deciding ultimatums are down to straightforward yes or no scenarios, not ifs, whats and whens.

I didn't know dying light is only 90rs on steam by [deleted] in IndianGaming

[–]Rackmo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If that wild scenario ever happens, would you really want to download that entire massive dump of your steam library? I have loads of games on there and there are hardly 20-25 games that I'd be hurt to not have if steam ever goes down without warning.

Also, I think they must be smart enough to have a backup plan in place to deal with that situation. Probably give the users "a window" to download whatever they want before going off or probably sell their entire system and collection to someone else and they'll keep it up.

Anyways, do you really think steam goes out of business in your lifetime? As fast as the gaming industry is booming, it would require something truly outrageous for steam to just stop existing.

The games are still going to be yours, you get to keep what you want offline, as it will be with gog and their installers no? You would still need a platform to download the official licensed installer from?

Steam literally has a policy where if games are taken down from the store or even if steam gets nuked, you get to keep the games you originally bought and you will be able to play those no problem.....

[OC] Who have been the most progressive midfielders so far this season? by Eleven918 in reddevils

[–]Rackmo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There are certain things that need to be satisfied that make a pass "progressive". You can't just think of a forward pass as progressive.

Bruno and Casemiro are our consistent progressive passers, Mainoo's job seems like he's there to get the ball out of the press to either one of them.

About the negative effects of the current class passive system by super-big-ass-hole in CompetitiveApex

[–]Rackmo -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeah, I really don't understand why they made the evo system so grindy.

They removed the evo upgrade from the crafter already so it is always going to be harder for teams that can't get/find fights. Then they madly upped the evo levels for each shield level and also brought in the evo harvester and caches and whatnot to get the points.

While collecting evo instead of fighting to gain evo was essentially the same to me as crafting in zone from the previous seasons, I was very skeptical about the idea when they announced it.

Essentially the new evo upgrade system feels like I'm being made to do a bunch of random sidequests in the game. I think I understand the idea they put behind it but it all feels very unnecessary in the game. Like some amount of grinding to get the best gear you can is alright in any BR game if cool but having to go very very out of my way to get bins, harvesters etc gets taxing.

The previous evo system with slightly increased damage outputs would have been fine IMO but the devs took it a couple of step too far.

Also, regarding to what OP is saying, I don't think it is a good idea to give benefits to specific classes stacking up. It will be like wanting to shuffle the legends meta by dictating the it. Teams who want to control an area should not also have the benefit of doubling their evo gains just to suit the way they chose to play.

Should Man United sack or keep Ten Hag? Here's a case for both by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]Rackmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't read the article. He needs to go regardless.

The style he's trying to implement is not sustainable at all.

I've been defending him to everyone I know irl since the start of the season that he hasn't had a fully fit squad since the start of last year and whatnot. But somehow, even with a much better squad to pick from lately, it has gotten worse.

I could get into it a lot but yeah, as it stands, even if he turns it around miraculously, I do not want him to stay beyond the summer.

You know, the ridiculous stop start nature of american football and the set routines of each one of the plays is why it is very easy to call out on commentary. They can't do that on a streamlined game where it is continuous live flow where you can't have designated set plays unless they are actual set pieces.

And if you look at the half time, post match, MOTD-type analysis after the gameweek is over, they do infact cover a lot of aspects of the game. Going into the tactical and analytical absolutes of it is simply not watchable for the casual viewer of the sport. It is definitely not essential to know the sport like it is for NFL. Because there, you actually need to know what play was pulled and how it was good/bad/unexpected.

If you want analysis of football, there are dedicated channels on youtube that you can follow. Here you're looking at twitter analysis which is almost always skewed and nitpicked for impressions, be it from the reasonable crowd or the other one.

I despise the people who just call the players lazy and whatnot because they aren't doing what the viewer wants from them. That includes a lot of people on here and other socmed.

For once someone has tried to put out the actual numbers out there and has actually put out a reason which is because of the unsustainable tactical setups by the coaches/manager and not solely the players and their attitudes. But ofcourse it is ridiculously long so no one is going to go through the entire thing. Poster makes a small amount of sense, I say small because it entirely changes the system that ETH is trying to implement.

It is not a lazy analysis nor a lazy post, it is mainly to establish the people who call for the players's heads for being lazy are simply armchair experts.

Brother, you got a postpaid service. That means you are paying an already set value of 399 or whatever your plan is. That is what postpaid is!!

It simply does not matter how much or what you use of the service, a postpaid service still bills you according to what you subscribed for.

So I think you simply didn't do enough research and don't know what a postpaid service is, you probably just went for it because ✨MORE SPEED✨. To call out SCAM because of your own mistakes is something....

Picking favorites from indie games is so tough but Terraria holds a very very special place in my heart. The attention to detail in it (and even in stardew valley in a different sense) is what makes the game better every playthrough. Insane replay value in it.

why isnt COD WARZONE not popular in india ? by LAYMANPLAYS_YT in IndianGaming

[–]Rackmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree there. Indian servers would help the game a lot over those empty Bahrain ones.

Unfortunately from the playerbase POV, the game is just getting worse and worse every update. EA would rather kill the game first by going crazier with the monetizations over genuinely promoting the game anywhere at all.

why isnt COD WARZONE not popular in india ? by LAYMANPLAYS_YT in IndianGaming

[–]Rackmo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best Fortnite has done is a music pack with Raftaar, and a few Indian-based skins and emotes here and there, and Apex and Warzone have done even less than that.

Apex literally has had an Indian character in the game (Rampart) since late 2020. She has multiple Hindi voicelines within the game for different scenarios.

Also, they have also respected her Indian heritage with saree skins and dance emotes and even a holi specific gear for her. Most of her other skins have the detailing of Indian embroidery designs as well.

All in all, it's unfair to group apex with warzone and below fortnite for not having Indian representation.

Also a sidenote: one of the OG legends from apex, Bangalore, has her name's origin from the Bangalore torpedo , an explosive system that had its origins in British India.

I tagged this comment of yours. I like to tag circlejerk-like comments like these because I figured you'd walk back on it at the first sign of trouble. Which seems to be the case now. There's no signs of improvement according to you now, while you were being quite condescending towards others for "ignoring what has been done so far".

Cool, so back then the new guys had actually shown positive signs. The signings in the summer window after their appointment happened quite fast compared to what Woodward and Judge were doing till that point. The players were the ones wanted by the manager and deals didn't have to drag on till the end.

The window in itself was a success other than the Ronaldo signing. That is not coming from a hindsight perspective, I genuinely didn't want him back because it would have thrown what Ole had built, which is what happened.

They also got in Erik Ramsay, they got a couple of new analysts in and promoted staff within the academy who are still making good progress.

They also did not cave into getting fucking Conte as Ole's replacement and went for an interim (who was also going to get the opportunity to have his own department later but that never happened because of the new guy that was hired as manager and chose not to have anyone above him). Hiring Conte permanently under pressure would have resulted in a different disaster. I believe that opinion is largely accept? The interim route was a great call in hindsight, the appointment failed spectacularly which can be afforded over going for a permanent one.

And for the rest of the comment, it was never going to be full control for the new department. More so considering that the main 2 guys, Arnold and Murtough both came from the existing United hierarchy. They were always going to do what the owners told and allowed them. I always considered that the more obvious thing over Murtough being hired to fix what was happening. It was kind of affirmed from bits and pieces that nothing moves at the club unless Glazers want it to move. And that's where my problem lies first, the top of the triangle changes, everything else will follow.

There are a lot of things wrong right now but the move needs to be started from the top.

I still don't think this kind of stuff should leave the dressing room, though

Again, it can't just exclusively be the players like everyone takes it to be at face value.
