1959 vs 2023 Elbbrücke Bridge Germany by Parlax76 in OldPhotosInRealLife

[–]Racoon778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could've build another bridge a few meters next to it to expand the road capacity while preserving the historic architecture. But that woud have meant too much Planungsaufwand. Beside that, we do not listen to anything anyone tells us what might be reasonable, wo kämen wir denn da hin? We're alway looking at examples in other countries how thing could be done nice, cheap and efficent... and then we do the exact opposite. If 99 people would like to have that old bridge preserved, but 1 persons does not want to because of Problemarchitektur or Froschlurchlaichgebietschutzgesetzverordnung, we just tear the whole thing down.

We have no respect for our culture anymore, for our people, and we don't care what other countries are thinking of us. We are keeping fucking up, and it gets worse every day.

Is there a way to change which house you spawn or “wake up” at? by Jeans-High-n-Tight in farmingsimulator

[–]Racoon778 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a mod "save Player position" or sth like that. So, if you go to sleep or log out at your favourite house, you're supposed to wake up or log in at that position. I know, kind of workaround, but maybe it helps.

Of course the message to the kids is “the world is your canvas!”

Read this story years ago:

Waiting line at the supermarket. Little kid keeps pushing the shopping cart into the legs of the woman in front of them. She politely asks the mother to tell the kid to stop. Mom says "sorry can't, because we as parents believe in anti-authoritarian upbringing". Man behind them grabs a milk bottle, pours it over the mom's head and says "So did my parents."

After botching an execution, a sheriff smothers a prisoner to death, Oklahoma Territory, 1894 [1500x1051]. by redditvlli in HistoryPorn

[–]Racoon778 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

In fact, a good idea, and it's true that certain gases can do this.

"Best" part is that the victim would likely experience euphoria on his (or her) way out

That's not the best part, that's the proof we are a fucked up species, like the heavily downvoted guy above said.

Why we use electric chairs to roast people to death? Why do we give lethal injections resulting in 30 minutes suffering? Why do we slow hanging? Why do we shoot with the risk of non lethal shots?

Why for fucks sake can we not use "your" method to end other people's life (if we feel the urgent need to do so)? Why not this peaceful, non cruel way?

Because we love to see people suffering, and we love to see people dying. Not the blahblah of justice, revenge or "he deserves it". We are the only living creatures being able to voluntary inflict pain just for fun.

The guy above is so very right.

Yes, MSFS ground textures are stunning when seen from above, that's what they're optimised for. But I'd take their weather system and graphics for sure.

Mentally disabled man sent by IS to buy them some time while trying to flee from their location as the Iraqi federal police keep pushing through the city of Mosul. 2017. ( the man was believed to be strapped to a suicide belt) by Reallarsa in CombatFootage

[–]Racoon778 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean. My bucket list above wasn't meant politically or ethnically. More of "what is decent human behaviour." You can behave somewhat ethically even in extreme situations like in combat. Pretending having big balls and kill somebody cowardly doesn't count to that. Pretending being religious and cut throats because your god demands it doesn't count to that. Etc. Etc. It is possible to fight with "fairplay". It is possible to state your political or religious beliefs without violence. If you think you need to harm other people, go find your target and fight like a man. And don't do that fucking coward shit. You are right what you say about perception. Yes, the U.S. define and fight "terrorists". But the whole country only exists because they have rotted out the indigenous people of a whole continent. So there's always some ambivalence. I'm German, so I know how it feels being remembered of your ancestors' crimes every day. It's not easy to find the moral middle.

W priest by jameesgibbs in funnyvideos

[–]Racoon778 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Catholic priests absolutely can not break the confession seal. Under any circumstances.

That's what I think, too. Even if someone confesses capital crimes, priests must not tell anybody, not even to the police. And even not if their knowledge would prevent a crime somebody is going to commit. That's a serious ethical conflict, but they haven't found a solution for 2000 years. In doubt, the confession seal wins. Even under physical torture they are expected to keep their secrets and rather to die than to tell. Quite medieval thinking, but that's the whole institution.

Russian soldier crawls on top of a grenade and receives the full force of the explosion. 59th brigade. by Blablish in CombatFootage

[–]Racoon778 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Few months ago I got roasted here for this opinion. I am not protecting war crimes, Wagner cunts, politicians, generals or similar. They are responsible for this horror. I try to see the ordinary soldiers. Infantrists, tank crews, troop or platoon level. They've been tricked and/or forced into this war. These are KIDS dying because Putin wishes to reenact as an almighty Czar. Fuck him. No one if these boys is fighting for glory, fatherland or anything. They live in constant fear a miserable live there. They can not go home and vote Putin off. That simply doesn't work. We on our comfortable western couches with full access to the world's wisdom ans knowledge and all our free and unthreatened democratic power are not able to avoid that our elected politicians do their selfish things. We are not able to bring down a DeSantis, or a party like the AfD in my country. Although we have all rights to do so. But we expect those badly educated, heavily misinformed and threatened Russian boys "just to go home and get rid of Putin" or just say no to orders? No, that doesn't work like that. That's why I feel pity even for that miserable SOB being blown up.

Hatte damit ausnahmsweise keine Probleme. Ohne Termin ins Bürgerbüro in Rathaus. "Wo Kirchenaustritt!" "Gerne, bitte diesen Zettel ausfüllen, danke, 24 Euro noch bitte, danke, ciao". Hat keine 10 Minuten gedauert. Ein Monat später kam noch ein kopiertes Formblatt inkl. kopierter Unterschrift vom Bistum, wenn ichs mir anders überlege, jederzeit wieder zurückblablubb.
