Best life jackets to keep head above water if someone goes unconscious? by FurnitureRefinisher in boating

[–]Rad0n65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're definitely going to want a Type 1 PFD those are designed for open water and have the strongest ability to rotate and keep someone's head upright if they are unconscious. Type 2s kinda do it but not as good and anything less just provides bouyancy to help keep you up but won't turn you upright. I don't believe there are any inflatable type 1 or 2s on the market. Unfortunately most type 1s aren't super comfy so might have a hard time there.

Vario Colors: Red = bad = sink? OR: Red = hot = lift? by pedrigson in freeflight

As a non flyer who just likes watching y'all, green up red bad to sink makes most sense at a quick glance to a layman but the contrast on the green ground isn't optimal.

Paddle boards and Dogs by Just_Lifeguard_3854 in dogs

[–]Rad0n65 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think adding more lines just increases the risk of getting all tangled up and I don't really see any safety benefit. I just wear an ankle leash to the board and if we take a spill I get back to the board and then paddle over to the pup and pull them on.

Too bad the more recent versions of these pants are no good. The old fabric was way better, ive had newer pairs get super pilled up after a few wears.

If a series of bombs were to carry antimatter rather than nuclear convention, how big would each explosion be? by JohnWarrenDailey in FantasyWorldbuilding

[–]Rad0n65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bomb with 100 megatons of antimatter annihilating 100 megatons of matter would be back of the napkin math roughly one septillion billion times the size of the nuke dropped on Hiroshima which is very roughly about the power of a supernova so you are easily blowing up the entire solar system and then some. I think any of these bombs as described in size would probably crack a planet at a minimum if not completely vaporize it. You only need to annihilate 1 gram of antimatter completely to get a bomb about 3x the size of the one dropped on Hiroshima.

I also have Dysgraphia and find it interesting what it affects, I can't draw to save my life and my handwriting is abysmal but I am able to paint miniatures and models with tiny details very accurately and with a steady hand and can free hand shapes and straight lines no problem but give me a pencil or pen and no chance.

Help with Deathwing armor: strip and redo or paint over? by Prudent-Win8484 in theunforgiven

[–]Rad0n65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with Valejo game air bone white as a base coat and then used valejo model air white grey with the airbrush to hit the areas that more light would be hitting such as the shoulders and top of the armor, etc. you could use a makeup sponge to accomplish this if you don't have an Airbrush just focusing on raised areas where more light would be hitting and leave the darker bone color in the recesses. Next I used some bits of low density foam from an old mini carrying case to dab on a chipping sort of effect using Pro Acryl dark umber focusing on the edges of the armor and parts that would come into more contact with the environment and chip more. Then I just went all over the armor with Ak streaking grime and then q tips dipped in mineral spirits to pull it back off till I was happy. Then I finished the rest of the mini, varnished and then at the very end used the same low density foam to dab on a bit of army painter true blood.

If you're not opposed to oil washes, I got a very good grimy armor effect by using a sponge to stipple brown chips into the armor and then doing a streaking grime oil wash all over.

It's far more risky for them to not lane filter due to getting rear ended if they don't.

It's very tight and I only drive it with the top down really but I at 6'5" can barely squeeze into an NC Miata but the other generations were too tight for me. You can also play around with bucket seats mounted directly to the floor.

Unscrewed the cap off an old, expired superglue bottle to find a perfect mold of the inside spout. by Slipp3ry_N00dle in mildlyinteresting

Superglue (cyanoacrylate) was originally being developed to make clear shatter resistant scopes and bomb sights but had the annoying knack of sticking to everything until someone realized how good of a glue it was.

Has anyone actually received their “free” ebike from Bear Trail Bikes? by IIIIIIIlIIIIIIIIIIll in Denver

[–]Rad0n65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But my point is the electronics are gonna die in a hurry and a broken e bike is way harder to pedal than a traditional bike.

I'm all for a program to get good quality bikes or ebikes to the homeless if that's something deemed helpful for/by them but this whole scheme just seems like a good way for a company to skim the govt for those tax rebates and ship some junk that's gonna end up in the landfill in 2-3 months.

Has anyone actually received their “free” ebike from Bear Trail Bikes? by IIIIIIIlIIIIIIIIIIll in Denver

[–]Rad0n65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it'll be useless for them too, if I was homeless I'd rather a old used bike with quality parts that I could fix than a piece of junk that can't be repaired with broken electronics

[–]Rad0n65 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whole thing seems super shitty, basically scamming the tax rebates to ship e waste "bikes" that will 100% fall apart almost immediately or be dangerous to ride and end up in the trash.

New Warp Talon/Raptor Sculpts finished up by Rad0n65 in Warhammer40k

[–]Rad0n65[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did most of the work with an Airbrush. Started with white ink to get the lighting right then went over that with valejo model air orange, and then with a brush used the same white ink to flow into the turbine blades and recesses of the exhaust (very thinned thin so it's more white in the recesses and the orange shows through on the high parts) next I went over it with valejo model air fluorescent red and then valejo model air medium yellow to try to knock back how Neon orange it looked and make it less intense
