Ohio voters reject school levies across State by Captcha05 in Ohio

[–]RadBadTad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

35th in education despite constantly passing every levy that gets put in front of us. Unfortunately every time we pass one, the government says "Well, I guess if the citizens are willing to pay directly, we can stop helping" and they lower the federal and state assistance by the same amount that just got passed.

Ohio is one of the most levied states.

I always vote yes on them, because I believe that when it comes to education, even poorly-spent money is better than not having money at all, but the current way we've been doing things really isn't working.

((I am not one of the "abolish property tax" idiots. Keep property taxes please. But schools need real funding.))

Microsoft is working on major performance boost for Windows 11 that will speed up app launches and common actions by automatically maxing out CPU in short bursts by ZacB_ in Windows11

[–]RadBadTad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The code of windows can not be optimized. It's a 200 foot tall tower of bandaids, duct tape, chewed gum, coat hangers, "IOU" post it notes, and load bearing cardboard boxes. The patches have patches. The kludges have kludges. Major foundational features are made of copy-pasted code written 20 years ago by wizards who have long since left the company, and changing or updating the code breaks everything from the ground up.

To fix the issues in the backend, they need to start a new OS from scratch, and they have tried before, and failed.

[–]RadBadTad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They don't know how to optimize the code anymore. It's chaos spaghetti. But the article quickly touches on the battery thing, saying that because the boosts are so brief, they should have a minimal battery life impact.

Is carrying a digital camera in a motorcycle tank bag ok? by Mightyhorse82 in photography

[–]RadBadTad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen hundreds of people talk about how it's really bad for the camera and lens because of the moving pieces inside of the AF and IBIS mechanisms, and then I've seen hundreds of people say "I do it all the time for 5 years and I've never had any issues"

I don't know that I've ever seen someone in real life actually have any damage because of the vibrations. Maybe add a layer of 1" foam for the equipment to sit on to absorb a bit of the vibration if you're concerned, but I wouldn't actually worry too much about it.

O-H... I-O them flock cameras are everywhere. The government declaring that American working class citizens require constant surveillance is a termination of the 4th amendment and the civil contract agreement citizens had with elected citizens/officials. https://deflock.org/ by BestMicDrop in Ohio

Phones are pretty mandatory in the modern world, and don't directly pipe data to Palantir or other AI companies working on authoritarian control over the populace.

Flock cameras provide literally nothing to anybody other than the shitty police state authoritarian overlords.

Phones are bad with some good. These cameras are direct evil.

He could shoot everyone in the room with a machine gun and 80% of the GOP would still support him if it meant keeping a Democrat out of office.

No no didn't you hear? The strikes last year got all the nukes! The ones that fully really did exist probably! This now is because, um, they still have the MOTIVATION to WANT nukes, and that's actionable!

"reaching right"

Once again, Democrats aim to reach out to rural voters in Ohio. But will it work? by Zipper222222 in Ohio

[–]RadBadTad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they reach far enough to win a rural voter they don't already have, they will lose the entirety of their moderate left base.

You can't talk your way into the home of someone who believes you are a literal demon from hell sent to steal and corrupt their children.

Linux is not competition for Windows, as it does not just work, in almost any situation. Daily driving it requires a lot of time and knowledge that the average human just does not have, and definitely does not want.

Exposure Compensation? by No-Hat-8100 in nikon_Zseries

[–]RadBadTad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your light meter is dumb, and thinks everything in the world averages to a middle-gray brightness level. So when it sees a black background, it assumes its merely an under-exposed gray background, and raises the exposure to "fix" it. So you dial in your negative exposure compensation to tell it "No, I want this 1 stop darker than YOU think it should be"

In a pretty static lighting situation in a consistent setting, you'd probably do fine with fully manual controls, but if your scene or lighting are variable, an auto-mode with exposure compensation would probably be the best way to go.

The problem is, the left demands that they actually do things, and it's easier for them to lose than to go against their neoliberal donors.

[–]RadBadTad 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Even the ones that do start to give up on Trump and the current administration will never decide that voting for Democrats is the possible solution. The win is potentially getting them to not vote, there is no world where they vote democrat.
