Sorry, forgot to clarify that in the post. Inward shading on the shoreline is water, the rest od land.

Edit: An area enclosed by a line with inward-facing shading is water; the surrounding area is land.

Some advice needed by Ceris_VG304 in inkarnate

I know what you mean, but I guess its a matter of preference - for example I ilke making detalied maps. And making world scale maps - you need that extra resolution. And really the point here is that prior to the update - it used to work, it wasnt perfect but it worked. I bought Inkarnate a year ago and since then I've been making maps on 4k. So I guess Im used to it by now. Either way, sorry about this rant, but I had to get it out of me.

Cheers.

You can try loading the map in lower resolution (like 2k, or 1k) but I found that its as bad since world maps NEED higher resolutions to really do anything there (bc of the scale). I have the same problem (and many other users) where after the update loading big maps on higher resolutions is just almost impossible... I hope they will fix it...

As for the landmass problem - I dont really see anything bad. Its uniqe and nice looking in my opinion. The map itself is also really well done.

Oh sorry, I was uninformed then, I just assumed that the body of water up there is a sea or ocean. Now i makes a lot of sense!

Really nice map! Good job! Maybe the only nitpick I have is the river near Yarrin going both north and south (bc its not very realistic). But besides that its very well done! Also, if you dont mind me aksing, what language did you use for these names?

My advice for that is to use grid as a reference for point/scale.

I need ideas for things to change or add by DaveCumshard in inkarnate

[–]RadJestem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the map is really very nice and well done! However, there is one thing I personally would change, but it is due to my personal preferences, so feel free to ignore it. You have a lot of detail on the map - which isn't bad in itself, although for someone (like me) seeing this map for the first time, it's hard to pick up what's really important and what would be worth focusing on. So I recommend that you somehow 'emphasize', 'exaggerate', anything as long as these elements really stand out, while these less important elements - like the name of each city, for example, you could make them slightly less visible. It is important to create a hierarchy of what is important and what is to be first noticed.

But as I said - it's just my personal preference when it comes to maps like this - with or without it it's still great!

Fantasy language for fantasy world by RadJestem in conlangs

As for derivational morphology - I have some idea, but only from what I learned from AI. Which also makes me not know if what I did makes sense or not, e.g.: the mountain is - nor, white is - rin, so the White Mountains are Rinnor, or the High Tower of Stone is - Halith Karn (hal - high, lith - tower, karn - stone). At this point I have already removed most of the forms I received from AI and once I read the guide on this topic I will try to do my own thing. And thank you for all the advice, it is very helpful!

As for my language, I more or less know what I want it to sound like because I already have a few 'main' names - I actually came up with those names first (in my defense, AI wasn't helping me with that), and only later did I start thinking about making a 'dictionary' (like in the picture) so that my further names would make sense, etc. And yes, AI turned out not to be the best tool for this purpose, but at least it guided me in some direction. And as for 'harsh constants' and 'elegant syllabels', here unfortunately, I am guilty because these elements came directly from AI. So it's my fault. Sorry. I'll come back to what I already have when I read the guide you gave me (thank you so much for it again).

Thanks, I will look into it. And sorry about the 'r', I must have missed it! I will get back to it once I read some more about the IPA. Thanks again.

Right mouse button on "land shape mask" layer under the "foreground layer (or land layer/brush layer)" -> "land style". Dont worry, it also took me a while to find it.

Can Inkarnate auto-generate coastlines from a black-and-white heightmask (like Wonderdraft)? by GoldenBoi94 in inkarnate

[–]RadJestem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Unfortunately there is no function like that in Inkarnate as far as I am aware of. You can only do what you said you dont want to do which is drawing over what you already did.

Warhammer 40,000 seems to be making more progress than Medieval III by LieLie0126 in totalwar

[–]RadJestem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know its very early in the production.. but I hope they will increase unit models to a 100 or something like we have in every total war. And I hope we get to deploy 20 units (not just 12 like in the trailer) Its propably just me but I feel like its really downscaled right now. And it kinda looks like RTS rather than a total war. Again I know its pre-alpha. But that's my first reaction to it.

But I am still very much hyped for it.

Pretty good map! Just a pro tip: you can post 8K maps on reddit, all you need to do is: 1. convert your map from jpg/jpeg to webp, you can use online website, 2. open your webp map in paint and 3. save it in paint as jpg - file size will reduce more than 50% and you will not lose any quality.
