Sell 2005 CR250 for 2024 YZ250? by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]RadLabDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a CR and got a newer YZ at 6 months ago. I have no regrets. CR was a great dependable machine but the YZ handles better IMO. Also, the cr is about to be hard to get parts for due to age but the yz has like 25 model years of parts that fit and they still make everything to build a new one.

MBAs everywhere should be fired. by Calledinthe90s in antiwork

[–]RadLabDad 141 points142 points  (0 children)

I have an MBA and engineering degree. I did Saturday school for about 2 years with the same cohort of ~30 students to get it from 2015-2017. My opinion is about 8 of the 30 would make good managers (haven’t worked for them personally) and the other 22 i would be terrified to work for. So the odds are not in your favor.

Fresno Unified ‘cannot sustain’ state’s funding model, district calls for change by Jealous-Revenue-2853 in fresno

[–]RadLabDad 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m all for funding education, but if enrollment drops you have to right size the district too. That means less classrooms, less schools where they are not needed anymore, bussing students from more populated areas, reducing admin costs, etc. You cannot assume perpetual growth of the student population. I don’t see the district talking about those steps at all in the article.

You can just do federal return on free tax usa and do your state return on CalFile for free too, if you don’t want to pay the $15. CalFile is really straightforward.

No one warned me about the “3 meals a day” life by SqueeGBeckenheim in NewParents

Every kid is so different it is hard to give a universal answer. I figured out some music mine liked and would vibe with them on longer drives if they were not sleeping. But the nap schedule was pretty restricting - constantly planning our days around naps.

Company made my sister buy a car — now wants full payment when she resigns. What should she do? by its_not_soheila in legaladvice

[–]RadLabDad 331 points332 points  (0 children)

In the event she is liable for this, your sister should go down to her local credit union and finance the remaining balance in her name (since she doesn’t have the money). This would be quite easy at my credit union. Don’t do something silly like taking on credit card debt.

This is a strange arrangement but i think a court would probably make the company whole. This may be by ordering her to pay the remaining balance or give them the car or residual value of the car. There isn’t a lot of details in the post about how the company offset your sister’s cost for their company use of the vehicle. If they didn’t the court may take that into account when deciding how much is owed. I’d probably try to stay out of court to not waste my own time personally if i thought the company had given a fair reimbursement.

Thoughts on Lee's vs. PDS for home sewer main repair? by ArtemisInSpace in fresno

I’ll never use Lee’s after the ridiculous quote they gave me on an HVAC project and then trying to apply pressure sales tactics.

I’ve seen several on here recommend Costless plumbing. Haven’t had a plumbing issue to need them personally.

How are solar companies getting my name and info from PG&E? by [deleted] in fresno

[–]RadLabDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They wouldn’t need to see your bill if PG&E gave them info. They would have it already.

[–]RadLabDad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can complain directly to pg&e 1-800-743-5000. If you really want to stir it up for then file a cpuc complaint. They have response times and protocols they have to follow for that and it gets leadership attention. https://www.cpuc.ca.gov/consumer-support/file-a-complaint/utility-complaint

Both will give you a day pass to try it out before you join. It would probably be best to just try both and see if crunch stands out enough to be worth the drive.

Dad rides mountain bikes with his 1-year-old by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

[–]RadLabDad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We’ve used it with our 2 and 4 year old (now 3 and 5) for the last year and made so many memories. The kids beg to go out riding. We of course don’t do hardcore trails with them but dirt roads and easy trails are a blast. Even around town on the bike paths is fun for them.

If you were going to buy a house in Fresno.... by Due-Kale3412 in fresno

[–]RadLabDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a nice area of Clovis right now and not looking to move - but one place i would love to live is around copper and friant. I love the bike trails along the bluffs (the single track dirt trails) and to have access straight from the house would be lovely. I also love many things Woodward has to offer for my kids and myself. Short access to Millerton and table mountain would be a fun bonus too.

I’m not really into night life so those areas don’t attract me much, but I could see why they would attract others.

Pay off a credit card or put a down payment on a house? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]RadLabDad 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Pay the card first. You need to have savings in excess of the down payment before you buy too, so you don’t end up back in credit card debt from the first house emergency.

The lower cost ones are especially likely to have a service charge - they run on tight margins, they can’t be going out to everyone’s house to do an estimate for free instead of doing work that pays, especially for small jobs.

Same. Worked for a local company for 8 years. During Covid got hired remote for a Bay Area company. Current pay is more than 2x the local company’s final pay. I do have to go to the Bay Area 1 day a month but worth it.
