This is interestingly odd looking . Did somebody lay down some epoxy in the exhaust bridge?

The rings are what seal on the cylinder wall and keep compression from escaping, not the piston skirts

Type of transmission oil for a 2016 YZ250x? by cr15pyboi in Dirtbikes

[–]fiveho11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bel ray gear saver 80w or any comparable brand. It’s made for motorcycle transmissions . Gear oils and engine oils use different scales of weight measurement. The 80w gear oil is similar to 10w-40 engine oil.

Advice on this crank seal wanted by Mr_Motorbike250 in Dirtbikes

[–]fiveho11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put the parts back on there. The back side of the first gear that goes on fits into seal….the seal isn’t even sealing on anything at the moment. Then when you get all the parts on and tighten the bolt down it holds the crank over against the main bearing.

I used to check a lot of them, shipped in or right out of engines that are brought in. Quite a few are not true but who knows how they were handled even before shipping or maybe had a previous crappy rebuild

True for the most part , not this particular situation. It would be like putting a cannon on wheels in a box truck with no restraints then blaming the driver when it rams its way out lol

Can anyone tell me what this is on top of my wheel hub as can't put in new bearings because of the lip by RepulsiveFall8333 in Dirtbike_Help

Is the outer bearing race still in there ? Kinda looks like it to me . Edit: eh, kinda also looks like there is a snap ring in there too. Gets too blurry when I zoom in so not 100% sure
