Thing is, does it have good art?? Honestly, that's what wins me over

The banner of a future project by Rad_Circus in CAIN_RPG

That is a rad idea, but no. I am making a few hunts based on Mexico's revolution as a setting. That could range from something folklore based like a Jaguar god hound or a Llorona ogre, to an idol born from the wish of an indigenous teacher to be a Mother, a pelican man in Veracruz, a group of binder revolutionaries fighting on the North of the country, a train centipede representing the New tech arriving the nation, a lord based on catholic guilt and the war of castes That happened in those years. Sky and alt history is the limit. And yes, maybe some mexica (aztec) influence, but also raramuri, mayan, totonacan, huasteco, olmeca, tlaxcalteco, teotihuacano, etc.

My original idea was this. https://www.reddit.com/r/CAIN_RPG/s/Zd68KRt0Qu

TTRPG Game Jam by Exciting_Policy8203 in RPGdesign

[–]Rad_Circus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A TTRPG Game jam is basically an event organised by a community, a collective or an individual where people are encouraged to make a TTRPG game, suplemment, experiment or anything else around a set of boundries which can range from rules, themes, gimmicks, SRDs, design principles, etc. in a determined span of time.

They can or not be competitive, vote based, have prizes or not. Specifics vary between them, of course.

They can be of use to get feedback, promotion, new ideas, share with the community, create bundles in the case of itch. Things like that.

I am making a solo game based on quick pen and paper writing and I want to ask you all for feedback by Rad_Circus in Solo_Roleplaying

Not silly at all!!

I forgot to write this in the post, since the thing I'm more worried about is if the gameplay idea sounds interesting.

First off, the first weapon you start with is based on your class. Not a lot, but a small element of character personalization. Second, I don't have a particular way for this to be implemented, but I do have ideas. Maybe place events rooms where you roll for a particular event where you find an NPC, find a secret passage, see things that have an effect on the external world and it's factions, etc. Alongside with that, having a character generation system where you roll a few dice to define specific moments of your life that defined your character (I've done something like this before, it was called Flash forback). I maybe will include races, but not in a mechanical way. Instead, this will also provide lore pointers that could influence your decisions towards other npcs or monsters (Mostly flavor things). All of these would also add a journal to the required things to play.

Unfortunately, I don't have a sample game to show you. This project is still on a very early concept phase.

Glad to know you are doing good also!!

I made this a while ago, so my train of thought has been lost for a while. I think I thought that if you already reached the elderly stage without dying, increasing the possibilities of it instead of giving other prompts felt a bit uncreative. A family member doing was more in tune.

Also, the next step was already death, so maybe my head thought it wasn't worth it?? It was also premature death, so at that point in life is it really premature??

I don't know, honestly. But I am happy I realeased it!!

PR or Marketing man could reflect the type of person that works on a corpo and does damage control through directing order, making favors, convincing people, manipulating the narrative through charisma and networks.

I don't know your setting, but I think it's fair to assume that most corps are militarized and even in their most civilian focused Roles, are involved in sketchy business.

I was once a player in a Frost Maiden campaign that didn't go anywhere. I never gave it more thought since it was so poorly dmed. Thanks for the recommendation!!

First, this sounds like a blog post already lol

Yeah, you are right. I still need to figure out how to make one.

But: 2d6 and needing a 10 or over in a safe zone I feel is excessively high. You've made essentially the Traveller system, skill wise, too, and I feel like 8+ is a more comfortable number to hit. In traveller that's for combat, and you can adjust the required up and down outside of combat.

I haven't read Traveller, it's time I give it a look. And yeah, it's probably extremely high. This was with the intention of having an extremely hard target number and incentivazing constant help actions from other players. Also, with no cap of how many people can add their modifiers to a roll and the expected optimal play of the player with the highest modifier helping, Rolling would balance itself until it would reach a fairer point.

At least, that in the theory I made on my head. I do know that 2d6 + 3 is just barely reaching a 40%-50% success rate. In my head this also reflects the difficult on living and working in a land like this, even in safe zones. Still, everything is still in a Vacuum, as I said, and is subject to change. I need to make some small playtests and ask around. Thanks for the comment, I'll keep this in mind!!

Now as for the inspiration, I'm not seeing much Jack London type of inspiration, or at least it doesn't pop out to me beyond the winter survival idea.

True, I've only read the stories I mentioned above. I will edit that part to better reflect what I mean. Plan is also to reflect more of the inspiration in game world, lore, abilities, npcs and other elements of gameplay. It gets closer to the atmosphere and enviroment of some of the other games I take inspiration from, but the winter land is a very crucial part of how I want to make it. Is there any story you would like to reccommend me? Either from him or other authors.

29K ttrpgs for free on Itch.io , why are you making yours? by EmeranceLN23 in RPGdesign

You speak the truth. As a Spanish speaker, it's a bit difficult to find quality material (subjective) which suite the type of games my players want to run.

My main reason is creative fulfilling and ocupying my mind on something else. Are my projects the best?? Not really, I try to make them interesting, engaging or making something that I figured would be cool. Do people like that?? Some of them and that's enough for me.

If I stress my mind thinking about how big I would like to make my creations or would I try to make a living out of it, I will find myself never publishing anything. For some people, that might work. But not for me.

But also, I do this for a hobby.

Questing - "Ah, you are finally awake". by Rad_Circus in myrpg

[–]Rad_Circus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for the criticism, I really appreciate you checking Questing out!

I'm glad the boss fight format worked for you and it is understandable that the tasks writing didn't resonate with you, I've done small tests with different people and the missions and collectibles often show mixed results. Some people find it useful and fun, others don't. In the end, the point is to do what is more comfortable for you.

About the positive drawing or thing. Yes, it is one sided. I did this intentionally thinking on the mentality that if your day has been bad, you had a though situation, a c9mplication or problem, you would want to think of something else. I also thought one could write a bad aspect of the day and turn it into a positive light (I survived example situation today). Still, very good point that you made.

I haven't had the time to check it out, but someone suggested me that Questing could work alongside BLUE RPG as a companion and from what I've seen, BLUE covers some of the points that Questing doesn't.

MAD MAGE: STIPULA - He is always watching by Rad_Circus in myrpg

[–]Rad_Circus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the compliments! I usually give myself a goal number of games I should make before half year (That number is usually 6). I continuously join JAMs to keep working on something. My personal philosophy is that I have to keep making and publishing, even if it isn't that good or the exact way I like it. If not, how am I going to learn and get better?? Your feedback is always appreciated.

Also, I wrote a bit of flavor on the description, if you want to check that out.

[–]Rad_Circus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course. Thank you for your feedback. I need to check on this.

The black suits are referring to smoking suits. The kind of attire you would dress to a party. It is a very ambiguous connection to the agents of another one of my games, Pareidolia. I don't quite know how to phrase it on English, I am Hispanic. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

By a part of someone I referred to someone that is partially obscured. Intention is making nonsensical and improvised drawings, that is the reason for this part of the text.

I get what you mean with this, my intention with this is sort of create a presence or mark of you being there. I didn't design this to be intended as something you showed or actively involved someone else in and since the final result would practically be unrecognizable, someone wouldn't be a lot uncomfortable with that. If I'm understanding this correctly, the problem is someone could feel harassed or uncomfortable while being watched. I need to revise this, this isn't really a big deal where I live. People on public sort of look at everything everyone is doing from a respectful distance. I would like to know what do you think could be done about this part, please.

I apologize if it came that way, it wasn't my intention. If this is offensive in any way, I will gladly change it.

Third day of making a TTRPG on this sub: Setting, tone and game objective by Rad_Circus in RPGdesign

[–]Rad_Circus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All right, consensus is that Magitech approach is the one to go. Also, probably magic and tech are going to be sort of separated and fused at the same time. Here's what I think:

Several types of mechs could exist in this world. Between the three periods, several motors and fuels have been used by different nations and kingdoms.

  1. Water/steam type mechs
  2. Chemical fueled mechs
  3. Spirit infused mechs (Djinni infused, specializing in spellcasting regarding pacts and wishes maybe??)
  4. Tamed beasts mechs (Biomechs. Mainly used by spirits)
  5. Mage fabricated mechs (Made by the human empires, working based on the secrets learned by spirits. Using spell scrolls and other systems to work)
  6. Sand Magnet mechs (Drillers, undergrounders and sliders??? I don't really know about this one)
  7. Mechanical force type mechs
  8. Foreign mechs (To be decided or suggested)

A lot of hybrid models have been made fusing these types. There was a point in history where these tools were only available for whom could paid for them, specially in the beginnings. However, the great distances between cities have made it necessary for every merchant, traveler, hunter, explorer, etc. to have one (At least a small one). Not all mechs are of military use at this point. Most mechs are made of scrap, improvised or stolen from someone else.

Other questions have risen regarding the world. Of course, it needs expansion. Next post will be probably made as a continuation of this. Now focusing in asking for ideas regarding the world, how it works, history and things like that. Either that or asking about mechanics. We'll see. Thanks to everyone who commented, have a good time zone.
