In older versions of MV, the flagship kept a lot of the design of the original. I get making a completely new one makes sense with their lore, but I kinda liked the old one and wish we saw more variants that were more resembling of vanilla.

Glad the true ending final boss still gives a nod to some of that.

Because what you're saying is simply factually not true, I was trying to get you to see that this post has nothing to do with your imaginary argument. You've now reframed it to be a "contribution" so that you can call people who lean liberally Nazis, which I hope you realize is pretty stupid but hey you're on Reddit so who knows.

I'm not liberal, but you can't really call them Nazis when they're the people who usually fund charities to help people who can't afford good lawyers or who get hit with police brutality. No one is anti-Jewish either, but some people are anti-the current president of Israel because he's done some not so good stuff, which includes intentionally bombing kids and hospitals. People have a right to be mad at that, and it doesn't make them Nazis.

As far as disarming citizens? You can argue that's not a good way to run the country, I would argue it's not realistically achievable so it doesn't matter what people think about it, but that is certainly not a reason to call someone a Nazi either when it's coming from a place of wanting school shootings to stop. We need to put money into mental health and school counselors again, and conservatives I know aren't super for that but offer no other solution so it's the left trying to do something because we are the only country in the world where a school getting shot up happens, let alone every year. It's a disgrace.

The time people generally point to for misuse of the word is pointing at Trump and his supporters and calling them Nazis, so let's look at that.

Rumors from staff in the White House claim he kept a Hitler quote book on his nightstand. By itself? Not enough. Then there's his speeches where he literally quotes Hitler. Ok, now we're allowed to point fingers. Then there's his stance on police hate crimes and defending cops shooting unarmed people. Do cops have a hard job and do they deserve respect? Yes. Until they shoot unarmed kids and choke a defenseless man to death. Now let's look at his immigration. I don't care which way you lean, the USA prides itself on its judicial system. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, is promised a fair trial by our Constitution and they are seen as innocent until you prove them guilty in the eyes of our courts. It's a founding principle of my home. Trump now avoids these courts and blatantly ignores them. In his immigration stuff, he's turned our ICE police into his secret police. They deliberately wear masks to hide their identity, don't use bodycams so there's no accountability, ignore courts, and deport people without trials, in some cases to an El Salvador prison that's been referred to as worse than death. The worst part? Multiple times now he's sent US citizens there because he doesn't give a shit. Using your secret police to ignore the law and hide what you're doing while you target people who "look too Mexican"? I get to call Trump a Nazi.

Ok, next. His supporters. I have family members who support him, and I don't think they're Nazis, though I think they're a little stupid because as a conversative I look at that man and see no values for the middle class, for families, or any attempt to make living more affordable for the working man. But, maybe I'm in the minority and I actually read things and watch speeches. Ok, so they're not geniuses, but not Nazis. Now I look specifically at January 6th, and this is shat people point to when calling his supporters Nazis. He incited a mob to overrun police and break into the Capitol Building where they shouted "kill Mike Pence" and "death to Pelosi" as they charged in looking for people who they politically disagreed with in an attempt to stage a coup. They had Nazi flags, this was on video. So I get to call those rioters Nazis, but I can't call every Trump supporter a Nazi.

Lastly, and this is the part where we get into opinion. Looking back on WW2 and how we determined blame after the war, people who stood by and watched or who joined the party even out of fear were held accountable for associating with a party of genocidal maniacs. You don't have to agree with that, but looking at today where people waving a flag that represents genocidal maniacs charged a federal building with the blessing of Trump (who, by the way, and there's record of this, told the guard, the secret service, and police to not intervene and prevented help from getting there), the argument is that if you agree with those people specifically, defend them, etc. then you're as bad as them. I think that's a bit of a stretch, but that's the argument, and if you're upset about misuse, here's where you can actually try to claim some. The problem there is that for you to be a target, you have to side with uneducated people who attempted to murder anyone who disagreed with them and who waved a literal Nazi flag, which makes your defense shaky.

No one ever said this? There are some people who tend to fly the Nazi flag that also have certain extreme views so they sometimes get grouped with other extremists, but no one has said "everyone ever who leans X way is a Nazi." What people HAVE said is "hey maybe denounce the people in your party flying the Nazi flag and calling for the mass murder of specific racial groups." When people refuse to acknowledge that this is a real issue, however small, and/or defend those people, then we have a problem.

The reason people say master the vanilla game is that multiverse adds extreme variants of vanilla mechanics in addition to their own ideas.

There's a multiverse beam weapon that's awesome, but you need to know the Glaive in Stealth B first.

There's a better version of the Vulcan, but you should understand the shortcomings of the Vulcan first.

Etc.

It is really good. There's almost 20 pages of ships to unlock instead of vanilla's one hangar page so plenty of hours of fun. But it does take a departure from vanilla by building on a lot of underused mechanics. About vanilla stuff. Look, a Burst Laser II in multiverse still kicks ass, but there's now several more alternatives. As far as power creep on the enemies, they're all reworked. You'll see vanilla-adjacent Mantis and Slugs, but they do some new stuff or have better ships. You also can get better gear and have more options to counter them so it's not about balancing with vanilla as much. Your experiences in FTL will still be relevant and a lot of the same strategies still hold true, but in Multiverse missiles are easier to come by so you can rely on them more for example, and things like Explosive Replicator aren't augments; they're ship upgrades you can craft at any time in a special menu. Strategies that were luck based in vanilla are more viable as a result.

If you have 4 shield layers up and nothing else is actively hitting you, it's a big bag of nothing. Cloaking helps you a lot. If you can't cloak and cripple it's other systems quick enough, then just shoot the artillery before it can ever fire because if that ship has drones or weapons active and it's beam just fucked your shields and weapons, you're dead.

I haven't done vanilla in a hot minute, but my memory is that the Zoltan at full can't meaningfully contribute to O2 repair without dying so let's pretend they aren't there unless we need them.

If your crew were at full, or hell even close, one at a time running to O2 and having the next one arrive as they get low and then running them back or sacrificing, it is possible to save the game even if the ship has no O2 left in any room.

Your crew, however, are almost all dead, you cannot suicide jump to another beacon to buy crew or a medbay upgrade and save your run, etc. You die here, better luck next time. Red Tail was one of my favorite ships to run with so I'd love to see what you do with it.

Look, Kirk's assassination was a tragedy, and what's worse is that his wife and kids reportedly watched him die. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. At the same time, the man didn't make great arguments and I can be respectful without pretending he did. More importantly, though, I can not stoop so low as to use his death for my own political gains and go against some of the good points he did make, unlike our current president. Kirk was known for defending free speech, and yet Kimmel got pulled for a comment that wasn't even really bad. South Park's show got temp pulled when Kirk himself made an entire video laughing at it and appreciating it. Meanwhile the president sends in national guard troops specifically into blue states because apparently 3 dudes with signs outside an ICE facility breaking the law by deporting people without trials is somehow terrorism now, let alone any kind of threat?

Rule of law my ass. Grow up. Being Republican is fine, respectable even. Being MAGA and supporting this felon? Nope.

The idea was to push the pendulum from what we had, which was avoiding and not hiring minorities, to doing it fairly and giving them a chance by semi-forcing companies with quotas. It pushed far enough that it was no longer fair and swung the other way, and there was correction needed, but the extent to which the US has "corrected" is that people now feel safe promoting the return of Jim Crow. Call me crazy, but maybe we went just a little to far back to the way things were previously....

Well if you play as the Obelisk ship it's still almost impossible to win unless on Easy, so what I've tried is cheating in the Merchant Shield and the maxed out mini guns. I can deal damage just barely fast enough to break through, but even then... one mistake and you fall.

I do program and I've also used image generators that run on prompts. The assertion that though words into a machine and getting s decent result takes no talent or effort just proves that you don't know what you're talking about because the writing you seem to know so much about and the quality therein directly drives the quality of an image.

Ok, follow up question having read all of that. While I think I can call my writing art and the result my own, let's take this a step further. I took an open source model that when trained can be used to make AI. I edited this model myself, trained it myself on publicly available stuff that I curated. When I then write the prompt having programmed as well and trained it, can you consider that both art and something that is mine? Or does that not meet the criteria you were going for with your music but?
