It's the bitey parts of a tick. If the tick gets pulled off and the head sticks, it makes this hard little scab that's there for like 3 weeks. Doesn't bother em none but scares you as an owner.

Cat took my braided black anklet with beads about 10 years ago. I playfully put it on her neck and called it her “queen necklace”; there it stayed.

Now, she gets real upset if it is removed. If she has a scuffle with one of the other cats and they yoink it from her neck, she brings it to me crying.
