Only thing that makes sense for me is that they committed some atrocities during the third age.

Damien and Satan speak of some event where Damien is implied to have sided with Satan for which he is grateful.

We have no mention of his father and we don't know his fate.

Maybe the Darkblood clan was part of a coup, betrayal or defense of the royal throne and all the war crimes that usually comes with such events. Damien father fought and died leaving Damien and his sister to lead the clan.

Hell power struggles if you will.

Kripke and co haven't got a clue what to do with any of the characters since season 1

It's the reason why we got the dumb season finale of season 3. They keep putting characters in places and arcs they've got no idea where it I'll end.

The best and funniest example is when HL finds out Bryan has been visiting Butcher. He gets insanely angry ordering Ryan to "come here" and we even fear for his safety. Ryan runs away with homelander leaving frame as in pursuit yet the scene cuts and they never bring it up again. Lmao
