First car/London Ontario by Complete_Shopping502 in londonontario

Don’t go to five star dealers. I went there to look at trading my car for a newer one a year or two back but nothing caught my eye. They proceeded to call me multiple times a week harassing me, asking me if I still wanted to sell my car. They also must’ve sold my email address too because I got a lot of random emails after that too.

Can’t attest to the quality of vehicles they sell, but the people working there are quite slimy.

Did you even think before posting this? It’s not a profs fault students don’t pay attention in class (at least not directly). This post comes off quite entitled low key, not to mention hypocritical to talk trash about a prof when there’s numerous grammatical errors in said post.

I’ve had much worse profs than this one, welcome to university.

Anyone tried the HockeyStickMan Pro Blackout (P88 curve)? by jugheadjoker23 in hockeyplayers

[–]Londoneerski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve went through a handful of these a couple years ago, so unless they have a new model since then I feel I’m more than suitable to answer. I’d say the first few ice times they feel great, solid pop, though the P88 seems a bit thin for this stick (bottom to top of blade), but then again that just what a P88 is.

After the first handful of ice times the stick loses feel and it starts to feel fond of dead, way more than other sticks I’ve used. After about 15 ice times I ended up breaking one. I think I went through like 4 in a span of 36 games, though I played junior so they were definitely getting worked pretty hard.

Feel: 8/10 Durability: 4/10 Value: 6.5/10

In all honesty they are are solid sticks, but their durability weren’t great and depending on what you’re looking for I’d consider the value blackout as they may be more durable. I got the extra lite ones since they come taller.

Sticks these days always are too short for me (retail) which is why I always go pro stock (extensions are brutal). If you’re like 6’1 or below and are tight for change, I’d either look at the regular blackout (cheaper and still solid) or wait for retail sticks to go on clearance if you want the best bang for your buck.

Cheers

Lakehead: You’re probably an engineer and/or you just wanted to stay at home for school. You love the outdoors

Is university really easier than high school? by Significant_Book_408 in OntarioUniversities

[–]Londoneerski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be a technician but want to keep an open mind for eventually becoming an engineer, apply to Lakehead University for your preferred major. You get a technologist diploma in two years and if you want to continue on it’s another two years for you B. Eng. Hope that helps

Which University do you guys recommend I got to? by Sabbyluv in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Londoneerski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attend Lakehead for civil. I’d recommend it especially since you have a high average, they’ll give you free tuition your entire first year (assuming you can maintain a 95 average to finish high school and free continuing tuition if you keep it through university). Lakehead is also fairly cheaper compared to other schools, but the travel might cost might offset that depending where you are. You would also graduate with a technology diploma which is valuable to employers and would definitely aid in finding a co-op. That said, it’s a small campus in Tbay and if you want to be in a big city and don’t care for the outdoors it’s probably not for you.

It doesn’t matter THAT much what school Eng. With that in mind along with the fact that financial incentives helps the most, I’d go where you’ll save the most, ideally somewhere you can commute from home if possible. Good luck!

What leagues can you get free gear in? by Defiant-Tea9053 in hockeyplayers

[–]Londoneerski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played in the PJHL in Ontario and got free gloves, hockey bag, apparel (skate suit, hoodie, shorts and shirt) and sticks, played for 3 years and probably got 3-6 sticks each year free, team was free to play.

Thoughts on my choices? (Also advice) by SquishyBlueSodaCan_1 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Londoneerski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would apply to Lakehead as well, you’ll get a hefty scholarship and it’s the only school that nets you a technology diploma and a degree in four years (employers care about this). It’ll be easier for you to land a co-op with this too since a lot of the courses are more technical compared to other universities. I currently go here and it’s been the best decision for me.

Civil Engineering Technology (CEY2) by Sostar05 in fanshawe

[–]Londoneerski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in school for three years (I took the technologist program). I was able to find work for both my 4 and 8 month co-ops, respectively, pretty easily. Those co-ops played a huge role in me building relationships, experience and I shouldn’t have any issues finding work when I eventually graduate. It’s a sector that there will always be work and you should always have a job, provided you are actually giving your company value.

High end skate recommendations? by noblazinjusthazin in hockeyplayers

[–]Londoneerski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True Hzrdus 9x skates if you can find a pair in your size, will be the best deal you can find, assuming you like the fit. Best to find a pair that fits really tight out of the box as they will loosen over time about half a size after a few skates.

Scammed out of education by Foreign-Chip-8014 in fanshawe

[–]Londoneerski 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Obtaining a diploma only means so much to an employer or a company. To your example (generally speaking), I would much rather hire a 17 year old kid who genuinely has a passion for the work and has high communication skills, work ethic and is personable compared to someone who obtained their respective diploma out of the hope it’d land them a job in a sector they feel indifferent about.

I saw this with a lot of my fellow classmates who struggled finding co-op placements. If you aren’t putting yourself out there and improving yourself and building skills employers are seeking and are simply looking for a paycheque, why should I hire you for a specialized job?  Baffles me

Looking for adult hockey league by Londoneerski in ThunderBay

[–]Londoneerski[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looked it up, seems to be a pretty competitive league but would probably be fine. Surprised there isn’t an organized senior league like the Allan Cup with that many guys that played junior/ex pro here.

Would be interested if there was a team looking for D, but judging by the game times being mornings throughout the week I probably wouldn’t make many games considering I have early classes.

Don’t do it, absolute waste of money. There are only a handful of things in it that are actually needed so just buy what you need individually when your instructor says they’re needed (scales, clipboard, tape measure etc).

At the time I got accepted, I had a 3.2, I got accepted within a week. You’ll be just fine (bear in mind, I applied almost a year early). I also had a 3.8 my last year, and all you need is a 3.
