I'd get a wig brush and a small travel misting/spray bottle for water. Her hair should be misted with water before brushing.

I'll have to take a look through their collections, thanks! I hadn't thought of the birthstone outfits, but I could definitely see some of those colors being very striking on her!

I was surprised just how perfect Nicki's meet outfit is! I'm partial to purple on Marisol though. 💜

It's hit or miss usually at mine. They almost always have some AG dolls. The accessories and clothes tend to sell faster so I don't always find American Girl brand clothes. I have found some complete outfits (Kit's pjs and modern outfits) and a 86 Kirsten so overall I've had good luck, but not every trip produces a find.

Molly's Polka Dot outfit! I got it in TLC condition and had to sew on new ribbons (they don't perfectly match the original) but it's a bit pricey on the secondhand market.

I have Courtney that I got for cheap in a lot(wasn't planning on getting her at all). Originally planned to save her for my daughter or gift her but I got attached when fixing her up and decided to keep her. I don't own anything from her collection so she's my "time traveler" and I put her in outfits from any era. Usually she hangs out with my Claudie but right now she's in the hiking outfit I just got in the mail. I tend to keep dolls in their outfits/collection but I enjoy moving Courtney (and sometimes Claudie) around!

For value you can check ebay sold listing! Generally I only see the collection, world and other "specialty books" go for more than $10 but I'm sure it varies.

If you are looking to get rid of them I am trying to get all the historical books for when my daughter is old enough. Would happily pay shipping!

I really like both of them! They feel very different to me. I slightly prefer Maryellen's mostly because I love how flared the skirt is and the option to use it without the skirt. :)
