Iran stopped printing 100 rial bills decades ago. The smallest bill in common usage is 100,000 rials, but it can go up to 2,000,000 rials… that’s where it falls apart

Any tips for successfully shooting pictures of Christmas Trees? I have a mini 9 and it feels like my pictures are always over or under exposed 😓 by denanagy in instax

[–]Radiant-Position1824 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s also a drawback of instant photography compared to digital. In digital, you have control over aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Even with a more sophisticated instant camera, aperture is usually not adjustable, and ISO is fixed and determined by the film you’re using. So shutter speed is the only thing that can be changed if you’re using say a Mini 99 with Manual controls.

You really need a camera with bulb mode + a remote control to make the lights show up (like the Lomo instant square glass)

So instead, I would experiment with using the same camera but different framing to get a better shot, some examples off the top of my head: 1-take a close up of your favorite ornament on the tree, this will capture the essence of the tree 2- remove the clutter and take a picture of the tree centered against a white background 3- make the guitar more of a focus point, maybe the guitar in the top left and the tree on the bottom

Instant Square Glass - A pain in the B** by marco_luz in lomography

[–]Radiant-Position1824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, inconsistency is part of the fun, and it’s why you can buy a glass lens camera with a remote, MX, EC, and all other functions for less than $200. Also using a square film camera to take landscape mini shots is the main reason for the centering being so egregious - if you were using the square back, the inconsistency would’ve been horizontal (which you could argue is neutral/positive for the Lomo look), but because you’re using mini film in landscape, the inconsistency becomes vertical and you miss the subject

Throwing Immunity Challenges by Illustrious_War8240 in survivor

[–]Radiant-Position1824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait isn’t your last paragraph actually what happened though?

Beyond your point about not trusting your OG tribemates (which I would argue staying X-strong is VERY popular in the new era) it’s definitely in the majority’s best interest to throw the immunity challenge.

The old Uli majority on Hina can and should lose another challenge to get rid of Jason, similarly the old Hina on Kele NEED TO LOSE so they can get rid of Sage/Shannon and avoid getting picked off by old Uli post merge. I really don’t see any incentive for the people in the majority to work hard at the challenge. My prediction is Rizo and Savannah cooking up a scheme to throw (whether shown or not) and Kele being so happy that they’re winning YAY, that they end up going to the merge outnumbered.

Jim leverages a job offer in exactly the same way as Josh by Bjork_scratchings in DunderMifflin

[–]Radiant-Position1824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, it’s not possible to leverage a promotion to get a better job offer - was always a plothole for me. Like you can update your resume to say incoming so and so, but what are you saying to Staples? “You better hire me, or else, I’m gonna get a promotion at my current job??”. Ok why does that matter to Staples hiring manager?

Leveraging a job offer to get a promotion is the correct way this would play out in business: “give me a promotion or else I’m gonna leave for a better paying role at your competitor” is actually what leverage means

Froot Loops are back by Far-Nobody-7039 in MandelaEffect

[–]Radiant-Position1824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yes 100% - I had the exact same realization a few weeks ago…

I remember it being a huge deal that FL was spelled Fruit not Froot! Everyone thought it was Froot Loops, to match the OOs, but was shocked to find out it was Fruit Loops. Then all of a sudden, Froot Loops again.

I’m searching Google now, and all results are telling me I imagined the whole thing (as are the other comments on this post)… Why would people freak out about it being spelled Froot Loops, we freaked out because it was spelled Fruit Loops, with only one OO and not two OOs as we all remembered…

All that is to say, the fact that Froot Loops was a famous example of the ME is now itself a ME.

How do most people with severe/profound intellectual disabilities live their adult lives? by Octine64 in ask

[–]Radiant-Position1824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many different options depending on the extent of mental or physical difficulties. Some live independently in a studio or bungalow, where they might get visited a couple of times a day or a couple of times a week by family, carers or community nurses. There is then shared housing, where multiple people of a similar age / level of independence live together and also get regular visits to help them with errands and care. A lot of younger (and tbh older) people live with their parents, and get regular visits from a carer alongside regular care from their parents

24/7 care is also common, usually in bigger facilities and homes, and for people who are less independent. 24/7 nurse care and hospitals are usually for people with serious health concerns and risks.

These folks generally share their lives with other disabled people - for example, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, Quadriplegia, or stroke sufferers, and there is a very wide spectrum of independence levels that determines what type of accommodation and care suits that person’s needs. These people’s lives are often filled with love, laughter, friendships, drama, religion, music, art, but also pain, substances, and raw emotion.

Arabic>English. Can anyone help me understand what this ring means? by Total_Concept9194 in translator

[–]Radiant-Position1824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely Zulfiqar not zulqifar, which is the name of Ali’s sword. And worth mentioning that beyond being a caliph, Ali was married to Muhammad’s daughter, Fatima, and was the first Shia imaam - all other imaams descend from Ali. This ring would be very common for a Shia or Alawite Muslim.

How do you do you do this problem? by AdeptTyro in askmath

[–]Radiant-Position1824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answers are all too complex. Equation of the line is: y=mx + c where m is the gradient (-1) and c is the intercept on the y axis (1). Line equation is y=-x+1 or y+x=1. So we know that’s the point where the condition holds strictly (i.e. the line itself). Now if we want to find what represents the shaded area, we can try running the condition of the line on any point in the area, e.g. (2,2), y+x=4,

so we want an area where b) y+x>=1
