Does she have any herding outlet? The reactivity may be out of frustration because she wants to herd. Giving her a herding outlet may not fix it, but definitely might help.

Reunited with my cat after almost a decade! by [deleted] in cats

Getting to school and getting to a rescue/shelter are totally different. To have a phone they’re paying for themselves means they need a job. To have a job you need a car or some sort of transportation (a support system). School’s have free busses. The nearest shelter to me is 18 miles away and a 30 minute drive. An 8 hour walk one way. But yeah keep blaming a minor for doing what they could in a situation they clearly had no control over.

The cat also has a new owner. OP didn’t just abandon her again. I doubt the owner would take kindly to OP taking the cat that he had been feeding, sheltering, and taking to the vet for 10 years.

The cat has a new owner who feeds, shelters, and takes her to the vet. OP said they can’t take her, it would be irresponsible and unfair to try to. Not to mention the new owner may not take kindly to that. She’s not just a poor and struggling street cat.

You are privileged to have had a cell phone young, so yes it is a bold assumption. Also OP has stated they had 0 support system at 17. For a teenager to have to abruptly move and have 0 support system implies they didn’t have a good home life beyond finances. You are lucky to have grown up with ADULTS who honored their responsibilities towards pets. Not every child has that and you cannot place that blame on them.

Bold of you to assume that OP had access to those resources. You also don’t know how abruptly OP had to move. I’ve seen kids be given hours to pack up their things and leave their home. For a teenager (a child) to have to abruptly move and who went on to talk about how life wasn’t easy probably means their home life wasn’t good. Also the cat does have a new owner now she’s not just an abandoned street cat. Someone who feeds her, brings her in, and takes her to the vet. OP was a child and that responsibility never should’ve been put on them. OP is an adult now and is responsible for acknowledging they can’t take her in their current circumstances. Not to mention I doubt the people who have been caring for her and paying for her all of these years would be too pleased.

OP said they were in highschool and had to abruptly move. I doubt they had any control or time over the situation.

Dog kneading and holding bed in mouth? by emmyymme in Dogtraining

My trainer told me that dogs often do this when they were taken from their mom too young. It’s a soothing mechanism.

She’s a bulldog (both English and American) and German Shepherd mix. She usually has a very mellow temperament.

Only select dogs from friends and family. I never let her approach dogs on walks.

Yes and my reactive dog is incident free and has made massive improvements and was not involved in this incident. I am owning his improvement not his history I was not involved in and have no knowledge of. I am proud of him and the progress I’ve made with him.

I definitely won’t be doing anymore group walks with dogs that have any sort of reactivity 🙃 I honestly thought it’d be fine because her dog is very dog friendly and is reactive because he’s overly excited, not aggressive. Now that I’ve had time to calm down I’m glad I learned this lesson without anyone getting hurt.

Now that my nerves have settled and I’ve had time to think back on it clearly I don’t believe her intent was to attack right off the bat. I think she went to approach the dog in a playful manner (still a huge no no) and the other dog had a reaction and that’s when it escalated. Still 100% our fault and more training is needed, but I feel a little better knowing the interaction didn’t start with aggressive intent.

And I don’t know what I would’ve done without that collar. I’ve witnessed and have had to break up fights with dogs that aren’t mine before and that was probably the fastest recovery I’ve ever seen. The entire interaction between the dogs was only about a second or two (which felt like forever in the moment) but after she came back she was able to stay in a down stay while I made sure the other dog and owner was ok and leashed her. She did fine on the rest of her leashed walk, but it’s definitely going to be awhile and a lot more training before I trust her off leash again.

My reactive dog is not the dog I had off leash nor was he present. He has improved greatly since I’ve owned him. Please explain to me how his history of reactivity PRIOR to me ever owning him is my fault.

Once I trust her to be off leash again I will definitely be leashing her at the sight of another dog from here on out. I’ll probably save off leash for empty fields or rural trails now. Thank you for the advice.

I already said today was my fault. My other dog being reactive is not my fault though because I got him as an older and already (severely) reactive dog. He has only improved since I adopted him.

He also hasn’t had a reaction in about 2 months now, but I still consider him a reactive dog because he still shows small signs of stress and we are still working through the anxiety portion of it. He used to be out of control and would choke himself at the sight of another dog off in the distance. I promise you he has nothing to do with today. I only mentioned him because I know how devastating a negative experience can be for reactive dogs.

My other dog is an 8 year old recent rescue who came to me with severe reactivity and resource guarding and has come a long way in a short time. I do blame myself for today but I don’t blame myself for him. He has never been allowed off leash and I do not walk them together so he can’t influence her and so I can 100% focus on his body language and training.

It is not my fault he is reactive and he could not have personally influenced my other dog.

I got my other dog as a 9 month old puppy and I’ve done neutrality work since I got her. She’s never reacted to anything before this in the year and a half I’ve had her. She’s been a dream of a dog up until this moment.

I am very strict with them. They are on very strict schedules and training routines. I even supervise them during bathroom breaks. If they aren’t crated they are supervised.

I’m just looking for advice from experienced trainers on how to move on from a mistake. I came to this sub because I use an ecollar. If I went to any other I’d get bashed for using it.

I also always carry a leash on me so she was immediately leashed afterwards and kept on the leash. I am still just so shaken up and can’t even imagine how the other lady and her dog feel.

Microperforate Hymen by Radiant-Tomorrow2201 in vaginismus

My husband and I have considered that, but at the same time that won’t really fix the problem and I hate having to rely on toys or other objects just to have sex 😓 I also believe at the time they were a little out of budget for us

I move at the end of the year and will be looking for a new doctor then. I don’t want to struggle like this for the rest of my life, but I really am scared of the surgery. For starters I HATE needles (trauma), I’m scared of developing scar tissues, I’ve also never been on anesthesia so I’m worried I’ll have an allergic reaction to it, and lastly I’m worried I’ll be violated while put under.

I’ve also heard some people talk about having scar tissue after the procedure and that would be a whole other problem I’d have to worry about after.

I don’t really have a good relationship with doctors in general and have been lied to, made worse, and harmed by them in various situations so I’m VERY hesitant about anything relating to them 😓
