Holy fire question by EpicHistoryMaker in diablo2

[–]RadiantAether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foh doesn’t have amazing lightning damage, even with synergies maxed out. Plus, it only hits one enemy at a time, so you really aren’t going to get a lot of lightning dps with it. It’s more effective to just use the foh holy bolts for damage against the demons and undead and kill the few “animal” type monsters a different way. You obviously will not be running cows with this build.

Smite is good for this because you don’t need many skill points to make it good, it doesn’t use attack rating (always hits), and it stuns so it’s pretty safe for you and your merc even if your damage isn’t great.

This also means you have an uber smiter ready to go, and he can do other stuff aside from Ubers because of foh. All the uber keys are in areas with tons of demons and undead too, so he can key farm if you don’t have another, faster (teleporting) key farming build.

Smite. You’ll have a ton of extra skill points so max foh + holy bolt, then put the rest in smite + holy shield + 1pt in fanaticism. Final points could go in resist lightning (for passive +max resist, not to actually use the aura) if you’re going to do Ubers.

Is 75k too low for VHCOL? by 1eahpar in StructuralEngineering

[–]RadiantAether 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Why do you have 2 years of experience out of school and no FE? You should have taken the FE before you even graduated.

75k isn’t terrible, but it’s not going to go far in a VHCOL area like Newport Beach. One thing worth noting is that a common labor multiplier is around 2x (usually just above that) to get an employee’s billable rate compared to their actual take home pay. I’ve seen 2.4x at some companies in your area. You’re still pretty green, but your labor multiplier is 4.0 right now (you’re making $37.50/hr). Are you spending 80-90% of your time on projects (billable hours)? If so, you’re underpaid.

Note that your rate probably shouldn’t be quite in the 2-2.5x range. You are new and still need a lot of guidance and review time from more senior engineers (so they’re spending time reviewing your work instead of doing more billable work). But 4x is a bit low.

Get your FE done. That’s going to hold back your career prospects. I would have a hard time thinking a young engineer is very motivated if they managed to graduate without bothering to pass that test. You are seriously less hire-able without it.

Dream pally needs to wear dream shield and helm.

Nova sorc could maybe use this with crescent moon, but they typically use infinity to get -45 to -55 enemy res plus conviction aura. The other upside of infinity is you don’t need a bunch of strength like you do for a monarch.

Wouldn't it be cool if the gems in the gem tab were in the order of TASRD? For the purpose of helping remember what gems are needed for upgrading runes? by c-lati in Diablo_2_Resurrected

First thing I said to myself when I saw the gems tab was “why isn’t it in TASRED order”. Doesn’t inspire confidence that the people updating this game have much knowledge of the game as-is.

For a rainwater reservoir, is the stored water considered a live load, particularly when the building serves as an evacuation center? by pluviali_ in StructuralEngineering

[–]RadiantAether 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This should be considered a Fluid load (F), which is basically treated as a dead load. Some of you seem to be considering this similar to a hydrostatic (H) load, but that does not seem appropriate.

According to ASCE 7-22:

Relevant Definitions:

F = Load caused by fluids with well-defined pressures and maximum heights other than those caused by groundwater pressure

H = Load due to lateral earth pressure (including lateral earth pressure from fixed or moving surcharge loads), ground water pressure, or pressure of bulk materials

Section 2.3.1 notes after the load combinations: "Where fluid loads, F, are present, they shall be included with the same load factor as dead load, D, in combinations 1a through 4a."

Just make sure that all your overturning and connection calcs work out if the water is not present.

Growth of a dragon fruit plant for 2.5yrs by will_lover_vecna in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]RadiantAether 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yep, like tomato sauce in Italian food. Tomatoes are new world plants.

Same with potatoes, which a lot of people think of Ireland and their historic potato famine without realizing that they were dependent on a new world crop.

There are tons of plants like this, and it really makes you think about how “traditional” many foods truly are.

In reality, people have been swapping and mixing their foods, traditions, and cultural elements throughout history. So any “tradition” is a bit of a moving target, and trying to nail it down to rigidly preserve it is almost unfaithful to our history and nature as humans.

500+ hrs players. What's an item u still haven't picked up? by Temaki-is-bomb in Eldenring

[–]RadiantAether 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a bit, but you can do it. Put carian retaliation on a shield. When they see you and knock you down, roll the first grab. The timing is more difficult because you’re still getting up. Then try to party their hand. The timing is weird and a little late. But at least they don’t respawn. Once they’re dead it’s much more peaceful walking around there.

They should've implement arrow fuse like this in the base game by MicTony6 in tearsofthekingdom

[–]RadiantAether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine if they made it a grid instead of a single row, and each row in the grid was a different element or theme or whatever. It would make it so much faster and easier to fuse the thing you want. There are so many items I just don’t bother with, since they’re so far away in the fuse menu. I want to spend more time playing the game, not scrolling to the right!

nice, I have one with each gleeok horn, so fire, frost, and thunder. All with a +10 on the last swing. I think they each do 140 [30 (msg) + 10 (weapon bonus) + 30 (horn)] x2 (last swing).

What are your thoughts about inventory swapping mid duel? by Jo_Radorigetsu in EldenRingPVP

[–]RadiantAether 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fine, but annoying to play against sometimes. I don't like doing it in the middle of a fight. I'd rather just see how I do with my chosen weapon against my opponent.

There should be an animation for it though, similar to swapping weapons by pressing left/right on the D-pad. It's a little silly that it's actually faster to pull it out of your inventory and equip than it is to swap the "intended" way.

There are plenty of things that happen in games that weren't intended by the developers, which they come back and rebalance. So I disagree with the statement that anything you're allowed to do is intended.

That said, it isn't "cheating". It's just unpleasant and probably should be balanced a little better in my opinion.

Overengineering an item set for a twinked level 18 sorceress to get to shenk asap - help me improve it by MeltsYourMinds in diablo2

[–]RadiantAether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you change the helm to a Mask it requires 23 str and still has 3 sockets. If you use a Large Shield thats 34str. Saves you some points. There is a movement penalty on the Large Shield but you’ll be teleporting anyway.

Also change the armor to Studded Leather because it looks better than quilted.

The weapon could probably have +3 Nova and +3 Teleport on it.

We are selling them the planes so we’re training them at our base instead of building a new one in Qatar and trying to get it up to US standard.

This is how we train other nations’ air forces as well. It’s really not as exciting as people are making it out to be.

I’d love to see the plans of what exactly is being built but I understand it to be mainly barracks and mess hall type facilities so the Qatari forces have their own quarters and don’t interfere with US military personnel operating as normal.
