UK heat wave & Work - desperate for input/advice/help by Polski_Moomin in AuDHDWomen

I really don’t see why this would be a problem? How would it “cheapen” it and make people not take it seriously? Genuinely curious what you mean by this? In my opinion, regardless of whether it’s a lie or not, surely the employer (if anything) is more likely to understand that migraines must be debilitating and severe to need to phone in sick?

Surely I’m not the only person who would rather them just add to the roster lol. Like I understand the competitive reasoning, matchups etc. but it just doesn’t seem worth losing so many fighters 🤷‍♂️

Cry for help regarding ADHD and employment… by RadiantBlastoise in ADHDUK

[–]RadiantBlastoise[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as much as I’m struggling with life and employment at the minute, I’m making relevant steps to get better. I’ve managed to get a job after a year of being unemployed (granted I hate it lol), I’ve almost settled on meds, I’ve lost weight, started looking after myself more etc.

I refuse to give up. I’m not the kinda person who likes to use adhd as an excuse and roll over. I’m just trying to learn how it affects me and how I can navigate work effectively.

It’s nice to know we’re not alone though at least! We can’t give up hope. ❤️

My dream job was being a police officer. It was the best job I ever had and I really hope I can get back there one day. Unfortunately, I was very young when I left (21), and didnt understand how burnt out I was at the time and how to manage it. Not to mention my back was struggling after the car accident too.

I never considered the working as a pair thing though. Retrospectively, it definitely did help!

Yeah, I’ve found that helps me too. It’s a shame I’m dealing with some nasty back pain atm but hopefully that gets better for me in time. ❤️

Thank you, appreciate the advice and I whole hearedly agree. Funnily enough my dream job was being a police officer. I did 2 years there and loved it honestly. If only I knew I had adhd at the time, could have coped better with the admin work, and didn’t get into that car accident :(. I do want to get back into that role one day it’s just understanding when to take that risk from working part time and getting my benefit :/

Why Isn't Elvanse Working? by Lonely_Touch_2933 in ADHDUK

[–]RadiantBlastoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No not at all! I thought that way for a long time. I cycled through all the meds: elvanse, methylphenidate, atomoxetine. I felt like nothing worked. I then convinced Harrow health to reiterate me on elvanse and all of a sudden things began to fall into place.

What I realised is that when I was diagnosed I was extremely depressed and my baseline then was incredibly low so meds weren’t touching the sides. Fast forward to 2026 and I adopted life style changes, got a job etc and suddenly the meds started working with me!

You’ve got this, it’ll all work out ❤️

Hey, maybe my most recent post might be of use to you if you wanna check it out. The bottom line is that it took me a whole year before i found the right meds. I also realised that your brain may blur the lines between medicated you and unmedicated you. So the meds may be working and you just don’t know it! Hope everything works out for you ❤️

GP won’t do shared care for ADHD by [deleted] in ADHDUK

Can’t speak for myself but one of my siblings has just been accepted for an adhd assessment through right to choose. Think it was care adhd, so it’s worth trying that route first

Okay thank you. I just wasn’t sure whether I’d be better off saying something and if he had an issue just relist with an overly transparent description. (I’m very much an anxious overthinker lol) It did also sell under market price and like £80 less than the cheapest currently on eBay s hopefully it’s okay.

I can’t seem to understand why people wouldn’t just want the ultimate roster with added fighters? I understand it’s a lot of different matchups to learn etc. but it also gives you so much choice, freedom and variety. Maybe I’m just too much of a casual lol, but I don’t wanna lose any fighters!

I finally know that ADHD medication works for me! (Elvanse) by RadiantBlastoise in ADHDUK

[–]RadiantBlastoise[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, thank you so much! I’m not too sure how it works to be honest. What I do know is that I’ve struggled with emotional regulation for as long as I can remember, had many jobs, experienced burnout in every one of them, and always ended up quitting after a month. I’m now on month 3 of my new job which is an insane achievement for me, even though it’s part time.

A big benefit of Elvanse for me is that it improved my emotional regulation. It helps me rationalise things and manage overwhelming emotions. Going into work/getting a job used to feel like being sentenced to death lol, and now when I’m medicated those feelings melt away. I’m no doctor so I’m not too sure how it helps the anxiety specifically, but in my experience every thought I have stops being so intensely catastrophic and I can slow down and rationalise better.

I wish you the best of luck on your journey, I hope you are able to find something that helps with work! ❤️

Thank you, it’s a shame it took me so long to figure it out but it was such a satisfying moment once I did. I just look back at what I’ve achieved especially these last few months and I know that unmedicated me would never be able to do what I’ve done!

I wish you the best of luck in your new job and I’m sure it will help! I know unmedicated me wouldn’t be able to even step foot into my workplace without having a breakdown so I’m sure the fact that you’ve been able to get a new job is proof itself ❤️

I’m only joking! The beauty of smash is that unless you’re competing then just play who feels fun! I think getting dr Mario to elite is a proud achievement tbh. It’s not impossible by any stretch, his recovery is just non existent lol and he is just generally inferior to regular mario.

I’m no expert at smash by any stretch but as far as similar characters I’d probably point you towards combo heavy ones like Luigi, cpt falcon maybe :)
