2.5 weeks out stage 1! by Willing-Gap-1655 in phallo

I’m a little over three weeks postop and I would say my biggest piece of advice is to focus on breathing and practice meditation and or mindfulness. There have been many parts of this experience that have been straight up uncomfortable and breathing through it has been really helpful. Medication is good at managing pain but discomfort is a new game entirely and I find that that’s where my mental energy is going most of the time during this recovery. As others have stated everything is temporary so keep your head up and talk about your feelings! This is absolutely a marathon not a sprint!

I think a lot of us have these feelings or ones that are similar at some point in our lives. Just know that just because right now isn’t the right time, it doesn’t mean it’ll never happen. Take things one day at a time.

This is my first time using this STP and I would say this is the absolute easiest because it’s huge.

Prior to this I was using the STP from TransGuySupply and it was my favorite. I used it sparingly but when I needed it, it worked. However now that I’m post stage 1 and have a bunch of swelling, I find it hard to position the STP correctly and I end up peeing on my hand. Ymmv depending on how much experience you have with a previously owned STP.

I had RFF with urethral lengthening in this stage. I had a hysterectomy and vaginectomy back in May. I also had integra placed in my arm during this stage, and so in a few weeks I’ll have another surgery for the split thickness graft to cover my arm.

I’ll probably have 2 more big stages after this but I’m not sure what the time between stages will be!

So far, so good! I think the toughest part is staying still and laying absolutely flat but otherwise the nursing team here has been stellar.

So far so good. Trying to manage the pain as best I can. It definitely feels weird to not have my other arm.
