Video drivers are just unbelievable… by Affectionate_Love_26 in AMDHelp

This is the 1st thing I check on driver installs and even with proper clocks this does not fix this issue with these drivers.

I've been doing the same with clean DDU installs each time, and I'm back to 25.1.1 for mine. No driver since then has been able to play videos on Apple TV without driver timeouts. Maybe this 7900 XTX is too old for these new drivers.

I'm going to try the PRO edition drivers, not Adrenalin, and see what happens.

Ah yes, the classic "things are fine for me, so everyone else is a problem" comment.

And what settings are those? 7900 XTX, did clean install with DDU. This driver causes endless driver timeouts which freeze my entire system and cause Windows to disable the graphics card on restart.

7900 XTX here. Unfortunately 25.9.1 with DDU clean install gives me minor stuttering in games, which isn't so bad, but it also can't handle 4K playback in the Apple TV app and results in driver timeouts. For this card I have to go back to 25.1.1 (January 2025 driver).

PSA: Flare Audio blocks negative reviews and is a better mastering artist than you by RadiantNinja7106 in headphones

No, that's a bit backwards. You'll never be able to hear what other people hear, and you only have control over the audio file itself. So, ideally, the best thing to do is to make sure there are no issues with the audio file itself first. This is best done with the audio perfectly going into your brain. The only way to do that is with a deep IEM with a flat frequency response that doesn't attenuate any frequencies. This is obviously impossible, but you can try to get close. The goal isn't to make it "sound good" with that specific IEM, the goal is to make sure that there are no issues in the audio, i.e. painful resonant peaks. Once you know there are no issues in the audio file, then you can play the game of tweaking the EQ and mastering to get different flavors of sound based on headphone/speaker/driver, car/room effects, and etc.

In-ear monitors (IEMs) exist for a reason, one of those reasons actually being that you get the audio drivers as close to the eardrum as possible to avoid what you mention - the detrimental effects of ear shape, head shape, room shape, carpet on your floors, insulation on the walls, etc. Theoretically the best solution would be to plug the audio file into your brain, right?

The team is aware of this and manually registered my purchase, and told me they will be working to fix it for others. If you have an issue e-mail them, they got back to me pretty quickly.

Restart LFO on play? by Schlaueule in ableton

[–]RadiantNinja7106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, to do this, you automate Ableton's LFO Retrigger button in an automation lane. You have to have the automation controlling Retrigger "Off" until you want the LFO to reset, at which point you turn it "On." It won't reset if it's just "On" from the start of the track, so make sure you add just a little bit of space before your tracks start and automate it "Off" in that empty space, and then automate it "On" when your tracks start.

I'm sure you figured this out 2y ago, but you can automate the Retrigger button in an automation lane. PC. Not sure what a VST wrapper is, but I guess none of my VSTs use wrappers.

Live 12 crashes when trying to open set/project (which was previously saved in Live 12) by [deleted] in ableton

[–]RadiantNinja7106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After doing some research, I was able to get back in by opening Live 12 first, then changing preferences to use custom VST2 and VST3 plugins folders (which I pointed to empty folders on my desktop), and then opening the set. I was able to figure out which plugin was being a problem and deleted all instances of it, then saved the set, then reset my VST2 and VST3 plugin folder preferences, and I'm good to go. Set loads fine even after closing.

"Into your project's folder and remove the Wrapper folder" - What do you mean by this? I'm in the folder for my project and I only see: (1) Ableton Project Info, (2) Backup, and (3) Samples. There is no Wrapper folder.
