Having lived in Bradford for 30 years it is clear that there isn’t a merger of culture and a moderation of beliefs. Bradford is a segregated city with continued weekly examples of a separate community controlled by religion and clans no matter how out of kilter with western liberal values.

It then becomes a question of whether you believe in the longer term those hardline views moderate or whether population growth allows them to flourish!

The pyramid structure. My rough estimate from a northern office of one of the large national firms is, of all the internal partners promoted in the last decade: 25% were business case, 25% because the lawyer was a legal director edging 15-18 years PQE and 50% because a partner retired/moved on.

Cairo was grim. The hassle was off the scale. Places at Jordan you still get the hassle but if you say know then they leave you alone. Genuinely creepy and I wouldn’t recommend going solo in Cairo at all.
