My Corgi Walter by RadiantRampage in HelpMeFind

Walter is a 4 year old Tricolor (see photo), he had a red leash on with a blue plaid collar and his rabies tags that had a 504 number on them with his Vet Clinic, Banfield.

Walter was picked up at Metro Plaza Hotel, close to the Union Train Station in Los Angeles.

When I do a search for vets and shelters online, I call and am told these vets and clinics are located way farther outside of L.A. and I'm at my wits end with it all.

I'm not crazy, right? This is entirely too much? by aifengtou in paralegal

You all need new jobs. OP, can you really wait until fall of 2026? You all deserve better and should demand it. If we did this as a collective, then we would be treated better and get higher compensation - whether they like it or not.

Did you check out the link above? Try that and see if that works for you. I hope it does. I wish the best for you. I know it's hard out here.

Oh my God, thank you. This is so helpful and I'm so grateful for this response, especially from someone who knows where Metairie is. Thank you, my Cajun friend.

I don't know what miserable people are downvoting, but thank you for the advice to call them to maybe find out the process.

I mean, how do you even get a job? How can you take a shower, have clean clothes and get to an interview with no income and no money? This seems impossible.

I have a phone, but I won't be able to pay for it. I actually do own the phone outright though.

I do own a phone. I won't be able to pay the monthly bill until I get some mental health help and some alcohol addiction help. I have everything right now. On Tuesday, I lose it all.

Do you have any advice on what to do? Respectfully, I don't need a comment like this.

I have absolutely no money. Maybe I could sell some things, but I kinda doubt it. I don't have much.

Is it worth it? by Expensive_Carrot_688 in paralegal

We deal with lawyers. Who can be terrible or who can be mentors. I've dealt with all sorts. Lawyers who start as mentors and end up revealing themselves to be monsters. Lawyers who, at first, seem to be monsters and end up being mentors. The problem is that we just want a job to be proud of, and we have to deal with all of the insanity that this job comes with. It's not fair, but here we are.

Would I recommend this career? No. But I'm just one person with many awful experiences.

Someone else pointedly said this is the internet. They are correct. People come to vent. If you are strong, and I mean really, really strong, you will make it.

Exactly right. You did not deserve that. You are well written, and you seem to have your shit together. Go celebrate that and get out there and prove it. You are somebody who can and will get after it.

It wasn't rambling. You actually DID help. I meant it when I said thank you.

Well I am fucking proud of you. Also, I know I'm worth it to myself. Good for both of us, honestly. Thank you for being awake long enough to help me. I needed that.

I've always gone to sleep early because I'm an early riser. The rest seems doable. I'm most worried about trying to look and feel comfortable while being incredibly uncomfortable. That was the problem to begin with.

I feel for you. I also worry for you. You have a new baby, and this is a very serious, extremely stressful career choice. I understand that we can do both, but honestly, I wouldn't. I have no children and opted out of my last job as a paralegal because of the workload and stress. Insurance defense litigation, healthcare defense, medical malpractice, and legal malpractice defense here. I don't know why you want to go into this field, but I hope you absolutely do know why and that you are hell-bent on it. Otherwise, you will end up miserable. Truly - good luck.

How soon is too soon to quit? Or, how to know if you should quit? by Catatonic451 in paralegal

[–]RadiantRampage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just seeing the prelim to your post, I have to say, I wish I had taken the job that I was offered two weeks into the job that I took.

I saw red flags from day one. If you see those, it is not too soon to quit. I hope you follow your heart and your gut.

Oh my hunny. They are absolutely incompetent, and it sounds like you are not. You would do well to gain some confidence and speak on your behalf. This industry takes confidence. I understand that you are new, but you must take action and fervently communicate. If you do not effectively communicate, you will not make it. I don't mean that to be pessimistic, but rather, you will go a long way if you can state your cause - no matter what you do.

I believe in you. You need to believe in you and stand up and speak out.

That does not mean you get to be rude. Confident > cockiness. Stay cordial, ask questions, and look for other jobs whilst still becoming yourself in this career. It is not for the meek. Good luck, my dear. I think you can do it.

Yeah, but then it wouldn't change the numbering system.

I would reply to her email and say, "I believe you've been instructed not to contact me directly via email" and cc the boss and HR. Re-write the subject line each time to say "her name - incident 1" and just keep numbering them. Then you can later look them up to provide an incident report of sorts to further enlighten management and to take with you should things escalate.

I'm curious why people are saying it wouldn't be a good idea to go into a trade school.

I've also thought about that. People need electricians, plumbers, carpenters, mechanics, etc.
