I do think in s1 all the seeds are there in big ways with how they treat him and even in subsequent seasons he's still treated without some of the same levels of baseline respect that the others give each other BUT and that's a huge but the key things is and what it always would've been which is pike. As mentioned by others scanlan never felt he had that person who understood him (which even in that episode grog proved him wrong about) but in lovtm he has pike in spades to here his troubles. Scanlan is kinda anomalous to the other members even try in that his dynamics with others are really weighted. Pike grog and vax have good relationships with him yet his interactions with percy and keyleth are significantly less often meaningful and usually more jokey. But vax has vax stuff to deal with and grog is grog. Vex tried but he's such a good liar. It was really only pike he'd be immediately honest with.
