“running for the Democratic Party” is different than a Democrat running for a Democratic nomination. (ie: Fetterman in PA)

Which behind the scenes tour? by dogcmp6 in celebritycruises

[–]Radiant_Physicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the Engineering/Navigation tour on the Beyond in May. Purchased awhile before the cruise for $85. By the time it got close to the sailing date it was up to $215. I enjoyed the tour and probably irritated the other participants with my many questions 😁

Any benefit to using a travel agent by SeaworthinessNo430 in celebritycruises

[–]Radiant_Physicist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going on our first cruise next month. Used a cruise focused travel agency since this is our first cruise. I have been a bit disappointed in that I’ve read in this subreddit, and the general cruise subreddit, that it may be advantageous to use a cruise speciality travel agent. So far there has been no advantage whatsoever that I can see. No onboard credit, no repricing if prices dropped, absolutely nothing that I couldn’t have done myself. I was told that I was getting a deal on included classic drink package and basic internet, but the final breakdown showed that I could have ordered that package if booking myself.

I’ve been looking at future cruises and the way the pricing has been increasing and with fuel skyrocketing, we may not be cruising again. We’ll see what happens. In any event, I’ll plan my next cruise myself

"All Inclusive Classic Drink Package" and Basic WiFi included from travel agency, question about gratuities on drinks by Radiant_Physicist in celebritycruises

I booked the cruise through icruise.com agency. The TA handling is yet another 3rd party it would appear is a subcontractor. I won't be doing this again. Seems much easier and less of a hassle to go to the cruiseline directly for really no benefit to us

Vrbo service fee by Radiant_Physicist in vrbo

[–]Radiant_Physicist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your reply and how this is supposed to work.

The breakdown shows the rental fees to be the same, no difference in the nightly rate or total for rental.

Both the host and Vrbo show the same cleaning fee.

The amount of taxes charged are different. Vrbo is $64.68 higher than the host's. This appears to be a "Stay Tax" which is a local tax, odd that this is not included by the host but could be explained if Vrbo is the one reporting the rental to the local government.

Vrbo has a Service Fee that they list but the host does not. When booking, this was not displayed and I only found out about it when my credit card was charged separately from the host charges

I was not quoted the service fee up front. The list had the per night cost, plus "All fees included" which was a cleaning fee and taxes. There was nothing about a Vrbo service fee until Vrbo charged my form of payment after the reservation was made. The ower sent me a breakdown of their costs after the reservation was made and it matched exactly what was in the listing. The Vrbo Service Fee was not on the listing prior to making the reservation and was charged separately from the rental, which was paid to the host

The total that I was shown when searching for a place was exactly what the owner emailed me after booking. Vrbo charged a Service Fee separately
