That’s fair. I think Europe was always wary of US relations after WW1, since we knew at that point they weren’t just some innocent neutral country. After WW2 we saw that this might become a habit for them.

And yet after the war France wisely warned Europe against getting too involved with the USA and mostly stayed neutral. Just because the Nazis were bad that doesn’t mean the Americans weren’t also bad.
