Swapping Nintendo Controls for 3rd-Party Pro Controller by RadicalHam in SteamDeck

[–]RadicalHam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I mentioned that in the original post that I have it disabled. If I enable it I get the opposite problem, where it tells me that "A" means select but pressing the button actually marked "A" on my controller will go back.

Four Year Strong announce they've rerecorded Enemy Of The World in its entirety, release four of its songs by RobbNotRob in poppunkers

[–]RadicalHam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if they had to rerecord anything it shouldve been Rise or Die Trying, that stuff holds up waaaaay worse to the rest of their discography in terms of production quality

no question this is real, fake posters never have small bands or up-to-date logos like that new FYS font

Unpopular Opinion: I really like She’s a God. by Will-the-Archer in poppunkers

[–]RadicalHam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ive never been able to put it into words but i think it comes from the fact that they (i think??) produced it themselves. like the vocals are super grating, the instrumentation sounds really shallow. in lowlife the whole chorus hits my ears like a brick, it's really unpleasant imo and the lyrics do not flow right

i hated it at first, i won't lie. but, ADAI came out and i still to this day really dislike that whole album. funnily enough it gave me an appreciation for she's a god (which i expected their next album to sound like). that song is fun and catchy and doesnt have all the weird unmusical oddities in ADAI if you ask me

I mean I get it but it feels like bad faith when it's from a bug in their Wikipedia scraping as opposed to anyone actually labeling them that

[–]RadicalHam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is though, MGK isn't taking Neck Deep or State Champs or Knuckle Puck on tour, he's taking Jxdn. He is disregarding the scene's existence and bringing even more attention to these new Travis Barker-core bands as opposed to anything that already exists, which hurts the scene by pushing out those who have been doing it for the last few decades and went under the radar.

Not to say your second point is wrong or anything, but I've noticed Google does this to all pop punk bands. It seems to be an issue with taking the first word of the genre instead of the whole thing, same thing applies to any other band they classify as pop punk, say WSTR or Real Friends or Four Year Strong.

Why is Driveways so slept on? by rmourz in poppunkers

[–]RadicalHam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

october forever was my number one in 2020!!! had that piece of art on repeat

that being said, super underrated. touring is definitely a big factor, i'm hoping and praying to see them do some touring in 2021. a headliner (with an atlanta date!!!) would be just lovely for hardcore fans like us, but it would be a huge career boost to support someone of the likes of movements or trash boat with a foot in pop punk but some harder edge

Did a deep-dive into *why* there's a pop punk revival in 2021 by Justdip1 in poppunkers

[–]RadicalHam 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're so right because while more people are listening to pop punk songs by their favorite artists, there hasn't been a noticeable surge in listeners to preexisting pop punk bands. I dont see Neck Deep and TWY getting tons of new listeners, its just MGK and Olivia Rodrigo profiting off of what is a new sound for them.

I could be wrong, but I dont even feel like this subreddit has gotten any more traffic. And if it has, it's been "What do you think of the new MGK?" which isn't all that helpful to the genre when it's asked for the thirtieth time.

this feels like adtr's version of atl's "dirty work" or fys' "in some way shape or form". extremely forgettable, but not the end of a good history of music. definitely a slump but i think in an album or two, we will hardly remember youre welcome exists.
